I have been to this location one time before and really enjoyed it. In fact, I made a point of staying here this time before getting my flight at 5AM. The place is clean and was very accommodating in arranging a taxi for me at 4AM. I was also impressed that some breakfast items were placed out before that time for early travellers. Unfortunately, however, we had an extremely noisy hallway with kids and loud parents. This lasted from 6AM to 1AM. We didn't get any sleep at all. We turned our TV up... Read more

We stayed at the hotel during an Easter hockey tournament with 5 or 6 other teams. The hotel was full to capacity. Staff were obviously used to handling the large volume of customer requests. Rooms were well equipped with mini fridge and microwave. Everything went really smoothly. The breakfast area was spacious and well organized and they had a plan in place for controlling the number of kids using the pool. Overall - GREAT JOB !!!

I recently travelled to Deer Lake on business and stayed at the Holiday Inn Express. The hotel is very clean and well staffed. Rooms were huge and came supplied with all of the amenities needed for a business trip. Although I didn't avail of the pool or fitness centre, they are available for those interested. In addition, there is a complimentary breakfast consisting of some hot items, breads, cereals, coffee, tea and juices. Overall a great breakfast provided. I will definitely be staying h... Read more

The room was spacious, clean and well appointed. The fitness room was well equipped and everything worked. The breakfast was well presented and fresh. We did, however, find a suitable hotel in the town for a two-day stay a few days later, and saved $60 plus taxes.

Newfoundland is stunningly beautiful, however, once you are away from St. John??s, the hotel choices are quite limited. I am normally a Marriott man, but with none in the area, I selected this Holiday Inn Express. While the accommodations are pretty basic, it was clean, quiet and comfortable. The floors and walls are kind of on the thin side. There were quiet people staying there when I was there, but I could see how it could possibly get a little noisy with children around. The front desk... Read more

The accessible room met all our needs, it was large enough to easily move the wheelchair around. The roll in shower was truly a roll in shower. The room was clean and the bed was comfortable. The breakfast was fairly standard hotel fare, but the service was excellent, the woman working the breakfast area kept everything stocked, and clean. She was such a hard worker! This was a great jumping off point for our trip into Gros Morne Park. I would recommend this for disabled guests or anybody - than... Read more

This hotel was just perfect. From the friendly and helpful staff, to the clean large sized room, to the building looking brand new, to even a cold breakfast being available at 4 AM for early morning flights. Although we didn't use them they also have a very nice looking pool with a slide and an exercise room. An excellent choice for anyone going to Deer Lake.

Very nice room and a friendly welcoming staff. Pretty much as expected for Holiday Inn Express. These rooms are certainly built to last. We missed the breakfast due to an early flight but I'm sure it would have been good.

We stay at Holiday Inn Express hotels a few times a year, but was pretty annoyed and disappointed this time. First of all, our check in was fine, very friendly staff. Our room location seemed fine until found out later at night that the parking lights are so bright that we had to use the room darkening shades to sleep. We were on the parking lot side so we heard too much noise from people arriving. The annoying part were the people above us, beside us?? Not sure which direction it was coming f... Read more

This hotel is very comfortable with a fun slide for the kids, convenient pool side hot tub and a satisfying hot breakfast buffet with a very neat pancake making machine. The location in Deer Lake is perfect, just up the street from the beautiful lake, less than 10 minutes from the airport and close to restaurants and grocery store. If traveling with kids would definitely recommend upgrading to the family suite. Very spacious and the kids have bunk beds. Just ask for the higher level floors as... Read more

We were impressed by this reasonably priced new hotel with bright, clean lobby and rooms, just minutes from the airport. While breakfast was included, there were many other restaurants and gas stations and amenities close by. Corner Brook, 30 minutes south, is the commercial centre for this area and has the big box stores with better prices. Gros Morne Park gate is less than 30 minutes west and you can easily tour Woody Point / Trout River / The Table Lands on a day trip. Your can also do the Ba... Read more

Nice family spot to stay. The staff is curteous, the rooms are clean, the breakfast is great, and there is a hot tub which is great after a long day of hiking. Only problem was the excessively thin floors. We had a terribly noisy family above us and it was quite could hear every footstep! Ask for a top floor room!

Great stay!! And well worth the price, which was very reasonable. Clean rooms with high ceilings to let you feel a little less confined. Air conditioners are not too loud which is a plus. Washrooms are basic but again they are clean like the rest of hotel. Pool / slide and hot tub are a bonus for families ( open till 11pm). Gym is very small but has adequate cardio equipment (very good quality). Just a couple Dumbbells for weight training (up to 50lbs) no machines though???. Free hot breakfast... Read more

We stayed here twice during our visit to Newfoundland; the first visit was excellent - friendly staff, great room on the 3rd floor (spacious and clean) and great HIX breakfast. Our second stay was not so good; the room on the ground floor wasn't as clean as our previous visit and was noisier - we asked to move rooms but were refused as the hotel was apparently fully booked. Another issue was the lack of laundry facilities - which are advertised on the website! During our 2 stays, three days apar... Read more

The hotel is clean, modern, and welcoming. The location is excellent for access to the airport and to the park. The waterslide is, of course, a big hit with the kids, as were the bunk beds in our room. One of the very nice things they do at the HIX is to provide a very early (330AM!) breakfast for those of us with early flights the next day, which is certainly above and beyond brand standards. We spent two different nights in the family rooms, and I'd make two suggestions based on our time t... Read more

We stayed for our family vacation one night in the Holiday Inn Express arriving at 2 am. The hotel is very new, the rooms are nice and clean. Although the hotel is near by the TransCanada it is pretty quiet. Breakfast was free and really good (pancakes, cinnamon buns, omelette, sausages, cereals, juice etc). Staff is really nice and very, very helpful (eg we needed some help with a lost item and other stuff). Highly recommended! Very nice atmosphere on top. Don't miss it out.

This hotel was very clean and the beds were comfortable. I love that each bed had a selection of soft and firm pillows. The pool area was clean but we didn't use it. We used the laundry facilities though $6.00 to wash and dry a load seems rather expensive. Breakfast was warm and convenient but was not great. The omelette, sausage and pancake was all a little dry. The cinnamon bun was great. Staff was great. Check-in went very smoothly and was very quick. Wi-Fi was mostly reliable. I would not ... Read more

Unfortunately, was just a stopover for us on the way to St. Anthony so we had just one short night here. We couldn't have asked for a friendlier check-in. The lady at the desk was being pulled in several directions at once when we arrived and she never lost her patience or her cheerful demeanour. Nice new hotel near the airport right off the TCH. Did not have a free airport shuttle which was disappointing. Had to pay $12 for a taxi to the airport. Very quiet for being near the highway. No restaurant but there are delivery options. Pool and slide is good for kids.

The Holiday Inn was great a water slide in the pool. Free Wifi! Nice beds. And great food. One of the best hotels! I recommend it to anyone visiting Newfoundland. The location is great. Hotel is modern, rooms are nice, staff and service is very good. One significant problem due to poor building construction. You hear the people walking in the rooms above you, especially late at night when trying to sleep. Poor insulation or carpeting underpad used underneath the carpet in each room. This is easy to fix, but will cost the hotel some money so don't expect it to be fixed quickly. Otherwise a good option when staying in deer lake or visiting gros morne national park . Approximat... It was a great location, and short drive from the Deer Lake airport. The staff were friendly,. We had a quality new room, very clean and quiet. The beds were exceptionally comfortable. Breakfast was included and had a self-serve selection of hot and cold choices. Enjoyed the clean hot tub, pool and slide. The hotel is close to Deer Lake shores where you can enjoy a walk along the beach and an ice cream/food stand. Also a short drive to other restaurants, and the town amenities in the area.

Your typical Holiday Inn at Deer Lake is a surprise. Very nice hotel and we used it as a base to visit Gros Morne. Room was very clean and "roomy", the facilities were first class (Swimming pool and common areas) and the staff very nice and helpful. There are some problems with the insulation so sometimes you can hear the people walking above you but not next to you. Other than that our stay was extremely pleasant and will be back for sure.

Nice touch. The hot breakfast with 2 types of meat with ready-made omelets, a pancake maker, very nice cinnamon buns and much more, was much better than most hotel breakfasts we have endured. We loved this place, beds very comfortable, wi-fi was excellent, parking great. A little confusing to find but once you get your bearings no problem. VERY clean property, and breakfast includes hot and cold options. Also there is a HUGE plus in that their cold breakfast starts serving at something like 3:30 AM, perfect for those ridiculously early morning flights out! We actually stayed there our first night and our last night in Newfoundland, we liked it so much.

The Holiday Inn Express at Deer Lake is very new and typically nice. The only warning, though, is that you really need to be driving a car, as it is 1.3 km to the nearest restaurants. There is a reasonably priced taxi service, but if you like to be able to walk to the nearest eatery, you will need to be a hiker. If you don't have a car a better bet might be the Deer Lake Motel, which has a restaurant. It isn't far on the map, but there is no street access, and walking on the two-lane Trans-C... Read more

I have stayed numerous times in this hotel, and always return for any work on the west coast of Newfoundland. They are always friendly and helpful with anything I need assistance with. The few times I tried the breakfast, the area was busy, but food offerings were fresh and filled up, so no issues there. Any room I have had are always quiet, which is a must for me.
