We visit Courtenay/Comox a couple of times each year to visit our Mom and we tend to stay here. We have always found the staff to be friendly and helpful. The rooms are typical Holiday Inn quality but always clean. The morning breakfast bar is perfectly adequate with a mixture of protein, carbs and fruit. They do their best to make your stay as comfortable as possible.

This is a perfectly fine hotel. The room was fine - the food (breakfast) was fine - the staff were fine - everything was fine. Nothing was great but nothing was bad (although the coffee was awfully close to bad) - what more can you hope for in a small town in the interior?

The rooms were nice and clean with comfortable beds and soft sheets. A selection of soft and firm pillows were available. Nice location by a walking trail. Breakfast was consistent and the coffee was good. There are guest laundry facilities ($2 wash $2 dry) that really came in handy. Staff was friendly and helpful. The water pressure of the showers was somewhat lacking.

This hotel is great- central, lots of free parking, free wi-fi, nice clean rooms with lots of towels, shampoo AND conditioner (not the combo stuff!), mini-fridge and desk. Just missing a safe (or maybe I couldn't find it?). Friendly staff on check in and check out, got two bottles of water and a chocolate for being a member of the points club. Pool with hot tub and waterslide (my kids' favorite part!) No lifeguard on duty. Large breakfast with tons of options like yogurt, pancakes, eggs, saus... Read more

This hotel is one of my favourites. Stayed here for a week. May 15-22, 2016. Check in was a breeze. Front dest staff were awesome and Alice (I think that is her name) went above and beyond telling us where to go, printing maps and even giving us discounts of some of the restaurants around town. She was so friendly and she's someone who you would want to meet. Rooms were super clean and our view was in the back so it over looked the water. An excellent hotel, conveniently located on the highway and close to the downtown area. Spotlessly clean and well maintained. The staff were all friendly and helpful with directions and recommendations. Very good linens and amenities and the microwave and fridge came in handy. The complimentary breakfast included continental items as well as meats, eggs and pancakes. A great choice while in Courtney.

This Holiday Inn Express is one of the newer hotels in Courtenay. We booked a family-suite with 2 beds in the main area and 1 bed in a seperate bedroom. The room was ready when we arrived around 2pm and was actually pretty cold (airco on high!), but that could be adjusted easily. Modern decor and 2 flatscreen tv's. Only 1 bathroom, but it was larger than average. Not very much storage space and with large suitcases the room was quite 'full' but as it was only for 1 night that was not a problem. ... Read more

The location of this place is excellent - the only time we had use for a vehicle was going to and from the airport! Had no idea about the airpark just behind the hotel, and it was fun to watch the ultra lite planes fly around. The Courtenay Riverway is just behind the hotel and it will take you anywhere you need to go! Right for the price, and was very happy to have breakfast included. Used the hot tub a couple times during my stay as well, it was clean and not overly busy. Would stay here again... Read more

A BIG THANK you to Angela Karangwa and the terrific team at the Holiday Inn Express at Courtenay on Vancouver Island, BC. This is one great hotel in an exceptionally beautiful part of Canada. The rooms are great, breakfasts excellent, and the staff incredibly friendly and helpful. The swimming pool and spa were also greatly appreciated. Thanks for four great days and nights. A fairly new hotel right on the main drag through Courtenay. King rooms are large with a seating area, sink, microwave and fridge as well as a separate sleeping area. At the front of the hotel we were afraid there may to too much traffic noise from Cliffe Avenue but there was no issue at all. The hotel is pet friendly and there are always a few dogs around but there was no noise from any of the animals. This is a popular place for hockey teams to stay in the winter months. Great location and facilities for accessing all local areas. We stayed here for a visit to Mount Washington and used the two room suite as we were a party of family plus solo traveller and it worked really well. Great small pool, hot tub and slide facilities kept all of us happy including the kids, and the breakfast facilities were great,,, plenty of choice to eat and drink plus a 'to go' facility. This was our first choice of hotel when planning the up-island part of our trip, and the hotel and its staff did not disappoint. The hotel itself is lovely and appears to be relatively new. The outside of the hotel suits the area well, with its stone details and warm, wooden porte cochere. There is plenty of parking out front and back as well. The hotel??s interior is warm and cozy and features the same local colour scheme. Other than the inconsistent use of warm and cool florescent light bulbs... Read more

I've been up to Courtney multiple times now, and stayed in all of the hotels in the area! And this hotel by far offers the best price for what you get. My boyfriend and I have stayed here twice now, the rooms are clean, and quiet, and you get free breakfast. The only thing that would be nice is having a stove top and an oven, for cooking during our stay but we make due.

We stayed for 3 nights mid-week in July 2016 and found the hotel to be very clean, beds were comfortable and the staff very friendly. We didn't use the pool area, but it looked OK. The hotel is situated on a main road, so is close to everything. Behind the hotel is a walking trail. The included breakfast had lots of choices and the food was refreshed when needed. We stayed on the ground floor and only had a bit of noise from upstairs (perhaps children), but it didn't affect sleep.

We decided to stay late on Vancouver island visiting friends and not take the late ferry across so our options were somewhat limited. We stopped at the Best Western first, but when we pulled in the loud and rowdy crowd from the hopping bar across the parking lot deterred us and we drove to the Holiday Inn. We had the pleasure of booking into this motel for our stay. The Manageress was extremely friendly and the front office staff made sure everything went like clockwork. If we needed something it was there and was no trouble. We organised for the restaurant to be used for a private catering function and this was provided at no cost. It was like we had not left home. Very friendly and with a hotel within short walking distance was the ideal venue for a team such as ours. Highly recommended.

The hotel pleased us a lot. Friendly staff, very nice room, good breakfast. I was happy to see that they did not use disposables at breakfast, except for juice (room for improvement there!). It seems to me that here is a contradiction in saying'save on towels' and then use diposable plates and cutlery. It makes me think that it is all and alone about saving money for the hotel.

Normally when we stay at hotels the pet friendly rooms are pretty ruff (pun intended ) with smells, stains, scratch marks on doors or flea issues, so we are always initially anxious when staying at a place that is new to us.
