We travelled for a weekend hockey tournament. Reception at the front desk was excellent. The boys were even given mini sticks to play games in the conference rooms that they opened for the hockey teams to just hang out. A buffet breakfast was included in the room rate for the hockey teams. The hotel was very accommodating. The pool was warm and the kids loved it. The only negative is that the rooms are small but we did not spend a lot of time in the room with so much going on. M

Historic and quaint , the Rodd, has its charms. Is in need of some updates and touch ups. My own room was ok, bed comfortable, but unable to maintain a room temp of 20, hovered at 25-26, despite a repair attempt. Banquet facilities old world charm, but is now leaning toward the 'old'. Despite the needed updates, the stay was still average.

Our team booked at this hotel for the close proximity to the arena for the Spring 2-Line Hockey Showdown. The hotel placed all our team on the same level with side by side rooms in the same corridor which made it great for the kids and parents to socialize during our down times. The hotel staff and security was very tolerant of the rambunctious nature of a team of 8/9 year old hockey players. There were several teams in the hotel and all kids were provided a mini-stick on check in. There was... Read more

The staff were wonderful in the meeting setting. House keeping were on their game. However despite repeated calls to front desk on sat may 21 there were families in the hallways of the third floor. Drinking, all their chairs out and eating in the hallway. You actually had to push through them to get to your rooms. Three calls to front desk and nothing was done. My last call to security was at 11:00. The party went one. In the morning the hallway was covered in pizza boxes, popcorn and ... Read more

Had a good stay. The rooms are not really sound proof. We unfortunately had young hockey teams staying and the kids were playing tag, screaming and knocking on everyone's door at 7am. Service at the front desk was excellent. Didn't get to enjoy the pool as it had a lot of children in it. Great location. Parking wasn't a problem.

We stayed 2 nights during a large tournament in PEI. The hotel had a banquet room set aside for mini sticks (which stopped the kids from playing in the rooms and contained in one spot). The staff were extremely helpful and friendly. We would definitely stay there again! The only downside was the size of our room. The hotel is older and the room was on the smaller side (though we had a large group), BUT they were very accommodating with letting us put 2 roll-away cots in the room (which made movi... Read more

This is an amazing hotel. Beautiful architecture, well appointed rooms, and an exceptional staff. Want to sleep in the same room as the Queen did? Want to pose next to the same fireplace she did? You can. To really experience the Hotel you need to poke around. See the ball rooms (as the staff they will show you). Modern hotels are fine but are carbon copies of each other, this hotel still holds the atmosphere and sophistication of the hotels of old. Eat in the restaurant! Sit in the fron... Read more

Walkable location to all of downtown Charlottown and Victoria park. Very convenient location. Yes the rooms are a little bit smaller (honestly just a bit), but are spacious enough. Rooms are nice and have real hardwood doors. There are actual keys for the doors. Pool was warm, clean and large; very nice. Beds were compfortable just too soft for my liking.

Booked the Rodd Charlottown several weeks prior to our anniversary during a Special overnight rate. Online booking through the hotel was a breeze and the rate was great. We wanted a hotel that was central to downtown. This hotel is perfect location and within minutes to great bars and resturants . Easy walking to everything. Hotel staff were very friendly and accommodation. Room was as advertised, comfortable and well appointed. This is an old iconic hotel but is well maintained and upto date ... Read more

The Rodd is a beautiful throwback to yesteryear - the lobby is grandiose and transports you to an entirely different time. We explored around the hotel and were able to imagine the guests that would have once danced in the Rodd's beautiful ballroom. The rooms are tasteful and beautiful. They reflect the historic charm of the Rodd, and I particularly liked the style of the bathroom. I found the bed incredibly comfortable, but my partner complained of its extreme softness. :) Overall, I thorough... Read more

This hotel is definitely beautiful and clean. The people who work the front desk were all very friendly and helpful. I had supper at the restaurant one night and it was delicious. Sadly, the walls are so thin that you hear literally everything from the other rooms. When you have people who are being loud and disrespectful, it makes sleeping impossible. My last night there, I had to go to work and then drive for 4 hours home, exhausted because I was kept awake most of the night. This really isn't... Read more

Our family of four stayed at the Rodd Charlottown for four nights in June. In short we thought the hotel was great. We felt about the hotel the same way we feel about our century home: the very things that were "imperfect" about it were the things that made it charming and unique. The hotel is in an excellent location near to down town and a short walk to the waterfront in amongst charming old homes. The exterior looked like something out of an old movie with big pillars. The bedroom and ba... Read more

I was at the Rodd Charlottetown for a conference. The hotel is cozy and has an old world charm. The rooms are exceptionally clean and well appointed. I can't say enough about the staff. By the time the conference was over, the delegates knew the staff by name. The staff helped to make the conference a huge success. And the food! Amazing! The front veranda of the hotel is the perfect place to gather and enjoy the day. The hotel is a block from downtown, and close to many amenities. Definit... Read more

I was moved to the Rodd Charlottetown after there was some urgent reparation at the hotel I had initially booked. I had decided not to stay at the Rodd because of some of the reviews here. So just to be clear that the Rodd Charlottetown was not my first choice. Although the staff was friendly and helpful, I found that overall this hotel badly needs a renovation and seems to be living off its past glory. The carpet in my room seemed old and the faucets were leaking in the bathroom. But overall, w... Read more

Room reflects the vintage of the hotel, and takes care of some of the essentials- great shower, great bed and windows that open. The hotel was hosting a dinner theatre, and I signed up and had a great experience. In a great location- easy walk to the board walk along the water, lots of restaurants and entertainment within minutes of the hotel

The hotel is on the old side but super clean and the friendliest of staff. Breakfast better than I've ever had at any 4-5 star hotels; these people do it well. A few minutes' walk to everything but nice and quiet at night. Great beds.

Really cute hotel. I was not sure what to expect when my husband was given an actual key to the room when we checked in instead of a card that is read. But the place is really cute. Charming is probably how you can best describe the rooms. Really close walk to the center of town as well.

My son and I stayed here for two nights during our visit to Prince Edward Island. We were in search of regional history and the Rodd did not disappoint! The building is grand and charming, but the room decor is dated. We had a pretty view of the St. James church spires. The rooftop deck was a relaxing spot to have coffee or a glass of wine.

This hotel is old but clean and very friendly staff. You get a real key to the room instead of a plastic card. The room is small but decorated very nice. Only bad thing is a very tiny bathroom. The roof top deck is a great place to take pictures of the city. Only a short walk to many stores and a mall. Queen Elizabeth actually stayed here.

It's a picturesque hotel decked out opulently. The large front porch and shady side yard makes a restful place to relax. It's within walking distant to the wharf where the tours and great seafood restaurants are located. The hotel itself shows it's age with narrow halls, doorways and overfilled rooms. The bed was really soft and only had space for a night table on one side. Our room did have a small fridge which was a nice touch.

Just spent four nights at the Rodd Charlottetown. This is a well-run heritage property located mere steps from everything in the downtown area. Our room was nice and clean and had lots of character. On-site amenities such as the pool, hot tub and sauna we're also well-kept and clean. The front desk staff were excellent, helpful and very friendly. We arrived early and were greeted by a friendly young man at reception. We were able to leave our luggage as our room was not yet ready. Great location in downtown area and close to the waterfront.

Stayed at this hotel for a girls trip to the CBMF. Room was clean and the building had great charm. Parking was easy and hassle free. We at breakfast each morning at the hotel, food was great and the price was fantastic. Great location for exploring downtown Charlottetown. Our only 'complaint' (and we realize it is a historic building) was ventilation. The bathroom was very small and didn't have a fan. The Rodd Charlottetown Hotel in Charlottetown, PEI, Canada, was built in 1931 by Canadian National Railways, and retains its stylish period decor. The building is very well maintained, and the regular rooms are clean and comfortable, if a bit small (especially the bathrooms). However, spacious suites are also available at about double the size. The location is perfect, less than a five minute walk from a four-block boutique shopping area in restored buildings, and close to Confederation Centr... Read more

Unique hotel with great hospitality in downtown Charlottetown. Walking distance to great pubs and local shops. Requested to stay extra night and was accommodated. Desk staff very friendly and helpful, they truly seek to please. Old fashioned kindness goes a long way! Rooms are clean and comfortable however sofa beds are not so sleep friendly. I would definitely book here again!

Along with your room key (key, not card) there is a small book mark with your name on it saying that Queen Elizabeth also stayed here. Hotel is old and charming. Bathrooms are small without much space for your "stuff". Location is good, walking distance to town with a little lending library in the lobby (you have to ask the desk clerk to show you where). Right next door is the fire station and on the corner is a Little Free Library put up by the city (one of six around)
