We have stayed at this hotel a number of times we love our kids love it, this time was our last.. They took a hold on our C? the day before we arrived as a gauruntee we show up, then when we got there the girl took $335 on top of the day before hold so $485 in hold for incidentals for a $150.00 room, that is outrageous and when se questioned it she told "thats our policy" well I'm sorry but I am not staying at a holiday in express for $485.00 a night for incidentals when I can stay at a high en... Difficult place to get to. The only reason we stayed here because it was close to where we were meeting family for a 90th birthday party. We arrived and tried to check in at 1:30 p.m. and were unable to do so as the policy of the hotel is that check in is at 3 p.m. We were told to come back then, which was understandable. When we arrived back, our rooms were not ready. We were told that the cleaning staff was not informed that these rooms would be needed today so they did not clean them in time.... Read more

The rooms are lovely and clean. The air conditioner worked perfectly. The staff are friendly and helpful. My dog is always welcome. The breakfast is amazing. Unbelievable how they have all those different items all self-serve. The beds are a dream but the pillows are exceptional! Love it.

We were very pleased in every detail of our stay. The location makes it so easy when passing through North to South. The hotel is very modern, clean, and has everything you could possibly need. Breakfast 630-930 was your average on the go hotel breakfast with yogurt, eggs, sausage, cereal, hot oatmeal, toast and bagels, etc. The bed was very comfy and pillows were wonderful. I really would have liked to stay longer.

We recently stayed in a beautiful suite - it was very spacious and bright. Air conditioning worked wonderful. Front desk staff were so friendly and helpful and great to recommend things to do in the area. I wish the selection of TV channels was better but it's not a deal breaker. Although the room was extremely clean, my daughter sat down on one of the chairs and found a pile of change in between the cushions (we left it on the desk) so perhaps a more thorough cleaning of this type of furnit... Stayed for two nights the weekend of June 3rd, 2016. Our room with 2 queens and a sofa bed was great! Almost felt like a two bedroom because we were able to put the kids to bed in the room with the beds and then close the doors and hang out in the room with the sofa bed. The continental breakfast was a great way to start the day. The pool was nice, with kids we were up early and hit the pool at opening, had to ask for towels which they brought. Right before we left another family came in and th... Read more

Had the pleasure to stay at the Holiday Inn Express South. Our king suite was perfect for us - nice decor, super clean and spacious. The staff were super friendly and Gaby at reception did an amazing job. Even the manager greated us upon arrival. You can tell that this proprerty is well run, meticulous right to the flower garden outside the lobby. I spend a lot of time in hotels and this is one I will definitely stay time and time again.

No in-room wifi, and no working phone in the room to call the front desk (or any phone calls - the phone wasn't working) I attempted to call the hotel from my cel phone but could only reach their centralized reservations line. Who also could not reach the hotel desk. Waste of money I would have picked a better hotel for the money we spent. I would choose zero stars if I could.

My two children & I arrived on June 29, 2016. Beautiful, Clean & Large room! They absolutely loved the waterslide & I really loved the warmest pool ever! We had a fantastic sleep in the cosiest beds, fantastic breakfast, and super friendly staff! I stayed a second night on my own so I could attend a wedding and really enjoyed the stay. Excellent group rate discount for all of my extended family too! Will definitely choose this hotel next time I come to Calgary!

Stayed here while on business in Calgary for a week and had a great stay. The staff were friendly and attentive, while the hotel provided a quiet place to come after a long day. Ammenities were good though didn't try out the fitness area, internet was great. One of the best south Calgary hotels.

The hotel was located conveniently for us while visiting family. We checked in on a Sunday evening after flying into Calgary from London and we were shattered. We got to our room and found there were no towels (this was to be repeated a few days later when the cleaner decided to take all our towels away again without replacing them). There was no safe in the room so we had to use the tiny safe behind reception. When I came to empty the safe I was not given the opportunity to retrieve my valuab... Read more

Hotel room was clean and comfortable. Front desk staff was very friendly and accommodating to anything we needed. Hotel accommodates those who do not have a credit card by taking a safety deposit charge on top of the room rate. Kids had fun in the pool. Nice hotel.

The room was clean, comfortable, the staff were friendly, and welcoming. We wanted a King size bed, we were told there were none left, we were disappointed and wanted to know if there were any cancellations later in the day if we could have a King bed. About one hour later when we returned they had a King available. which we were happy to take.

Holiday Inn Express Hotels is often our "go to" when travelling. Up until this visit we found them consistently good. Our greeting during check-in did nothing to make us feel welcomed but the major disappointment was the bed, or more specifically, the sheets. Covered in pills, the sheet was annoying to sleep on. I contacted the front desk the next day and asked that our sheets be changed and why. Darn if they weren't much better! Really? If someone is asking to have their sheets changed after... Read more

We stayed in this hotel as our son was competing in soccer provincials in Calgary with his team and my husband is a coach. Although I felt the room was a bit high in price ($160 for queen suite) compared to other hotels with better amenities ($187 Hyatt Downtown with concierge room that includes breakfast and dinner as well as all day coffee/tea and cookies), it was clean and quiet. I'm not crazy about Holiday Inn's breakfast however, there are options for those who want to eat a bit better (i... Read more

We stayed for 1 night. The room had not been properly serviced before we checked in. There was only 1 bath sheet, the TV didn't work properly and the remote's battery was almost flat and there was a box with a quarter of a pizza on the top shelf of the closet. We complained about these things when we checked out. Then we drove straight home and unpacked our bags, only to realize we had left an e-reader on the bed in the hotel. We phoned the hotel and reported the lost and were promised a r... Read more

Won't be back. Arrived at 5:00 and told room wouldn't be ready for another hour. Room smelt like smoke but we were told they just cleaned the carpet because there was a service dog. Didn't have towels replaced one day and had to ask. Location was good but won't be back.

Stayed at this hotel for two nights in a queen room which was near to the lift. It was not a problem and didn't hear any noise from it. The desk manager was very good and did offer another room if we wanted to change. He even came into breakfast to see if our stay was ok. Nice pool and breakfast was also adequate but plastic cutlery and plates a put off. It's only a ten minute walk to the Canyon Meadows c train which gets you into the city in twenty minutes for $3.10.

Our entire experience with this hotel was absolutely terrible. From booking to stay to checking in to our rooms everything was bad. Without hesitation it was the worst hotel experience I have had in Canada in a very, very long time. Simple stuff that hotels like this just need to get right they could not. The booking which was done over the phone went terribly wrong. Over charged and US Dollars through some affiliate booking agency. Days and weeks later the issue remains outstanding and te... The hotel is conveniently placed near 2 transit stations making it cheap and easy to get into the city centre and the Holiday Inn provided us with a mostly quiet, pleasant stay. Room 431 was on the top floor, end of corridor and furthest away from highway, so was fairly peaceful. The room was of a good size, nice furniture and fittings, comfortable beds and included a sink/fridge/microwave/coffee maker. The bathroom was large with ample space for one's personal effects on and under the huge vani... Read more

I accidentally book my nights on the holiday inn hotel in downtown Calgary. On Sunday July 10th, I showed up on the Hotel at Lake Fraser Dr with my family for my stay. There, I was informed that my reservation was done at downtown hotel, my mistake. So I decide to call the reservation number to move my reservation from the downtown to the lake fraser hotel. The agent said that he will take care of this for me move my reservation to the new hotel and cancel the other one. He made the changes and... Read more

We are always pleased at this HIE. It is always clean, quiet and most of the staff is great. They do everything to make it a great stay. The only drawback this time was there was a wedding party and they took all the breakfast seats...we found two but there were many that were standing and trying to find a seat...not the hotel's problem...but some people took up 8 spots and never moved from the time we came in to when we left...felt sorry for those who couldn't sit.

Staff were friendly, although it often seemed there was only 1 person at the desk and so it didn't take much for the front desk to be very busy. Rooms were nice, all the staff were very helpful and friendly. Exercise room was good but missing a few items that would be helpful (large elastics, exercise ball, mats). Pool appeared to have a woman running private swimming lessons most afternoons/early eve so that put a damper on using the pool. Pool area and hot tub were nice otherwise. Breakfast wa... Read more
