In addition to a wonderful location, this hotel is standard according to the expectations of the Hilton brand, and specifically, the Hilton Garden Inns. We made plans to stay four days and three nights as we had some work to finish with a local client in addition to some vacation time, so we decided to merge our schedules and enjoy the downtime together which saved money in the short and long run. There are many business, factories and corporations that surround the hotel (for which Brampton is known) and of course, the Pearson Airport (YYZ) is a very short drive away. It is very easy to find, and Uber is readily accessible.
That being said, it is apparent that this location is accustomed to accommodating business travelers on a regular basis as all of the services are available around an office schedule. If you enjoy an extended breakfast, it serves your interest to get up early and have the breakfast at the start of the breakfast hours. Otherwise, you will encounter a colossal mass breakfast movement at the same time, with all of the people descending downstairs at the same time, using the same elevator, asking the same servers for the same things. The made to order breakfast is wonderful, but when everyone shows up at the same time for with specific tastes, it takes more time to prepare such orders, so it backs up the schedule for everyone who is ordering, which causes the breakfasts to delay, which cause the guests to become irritable as these delays cause the guests to subsequently become late for office. Typical of mobs of business travelers, they aren't thinking of anyone but themselves, so the breakfast experience can become stressful at the start of the day because of so many people wanting the same things in a very short period of time. Do one thing and wake up early, at the start of the breakfast hours, if you really are someone who enjoys your morning coffee and using the time to get organized to start your day. Be prepared to pay $12.95 CAD for breakfast, plus gratuity.
After breakfast concludes there is not another meal service until dinner, which begins at 5:00 PM. There isn't any bar service in the interim, so if you want to have some drinks during the interim, it is in your best interest to bring drinks with you and store them in the refrigerator in the room so that you can provide your own drinks until the bar opens at 5:00 PM.
The indoor pool is wonderfully maintained, but it appeared there wasn't a whirlpool/hot tub in the pool area.
There is a small patio area attached to the bar/lounge where smoking is welcome. So, one can enjoy a drink and smoke at the same time, which is getting harder and harder to find at these corporate brands. All rooms are smoke free.
Although we asked for Room Service during the breakfast hours, we were advised that this service is only available during the dinner hours and upon witnessing the breakfast mob our first morning, we could understand why. There isn't any lunch service, so if you want Room Service, you will have to wait until the 5:00 PM dinner service.
In our time, there was a wedding reception, so you may want to check when you schedule your reservation if there are any conferences or groups scheduled during the same time as your anticipated travel dates, because of course, this reduces the amount of staff and services available to the rest of the guests throughout the hotel. We didn't mind as much because we only planned for four days, but it is all a matter of expectations and preferences, so if you aren't into working around huge groups, such parties may affect the pleasure and comfort of your stay. Of course, this augments the noise level during the mornings and evening as these guests are preparing for their events and the children are also being dressed, so one can imagine the amount of space and consideration such groups require. It is obvious that the hotel staff is used to large groups of people.
All of our expectations were met. The days were busy and the nights were quiet. We did some international calling with work late at night and our floor was quiet during this time, which minimizes distractions that can be fatal to engaging in a quality, late night conference call. If you have any specific preferences (a room next to staircase/elevator, certain types of coffee/tea for Keurig, etc.) it serves you best to call the hotel and speak to the desk supervisor upon finalizing your reservation. Make your requests ahead of time because it will be a headache for you to request such things in real time given that there will be many other guests who will expect their levels of treatments. If you enjoy peace, try to communicate what you need in advance.
Finally, the housekeeping staff can't be tipped enough. They are exceptional in what they do given that there are so many people who leave so much trash behind without any consideration for anyone else.
