It located along the Banff Ave, the center of Banff which you can walk to the shops, restaurants in a couple of minutes. The room itself is ok, big enough, the breakfast is good. However, the soundproof isn't very good, could be distributing if you are sensitive to noise.

I stayed for two nights in this hotel and can't praise it highly enough. Although there were a couple of downsides, the elevator was very slow getting people to the third floor, once there my room was right at the end of the long corridor, it was quite a hike and the last thing I can say in the negative was the porterage. We had booked our group in to have their bags taken down, but something happened with our request and the porter did not turn up until just before we were to leave. On a posit... Read more

The hotel is perfectly located in the middle of town. Close to shops and snow gear hire places. We had a hire car, but there was a bus that left every morning to go to the ski slopes. Laundry onsite. Snow gear storage facility onsite. Our heating wasn't working when we arrived, but this was fixed shortly after. We were offered free breakfast as reimbursement on our last day, however left early and could not make use of the vouchers. No fridge or kettle or anything. Just a room with 2 beds ... Read more

Historic hotel in the center of town (but the town is not that big!). A short walk out the door leads to to any number of places to eat, and to the start of a number of walking trails, etc. Rooms are located above a number of shops (on street level) off a long corridor that, with some twists, follows the street line. The problem is that I found myself over the top of a sports bar on the night of a competition where voices carried up until nearly 3AM in the morning (the night before it was absolu... Read more

What a great place to visit. The hotel was great, very clean. The staff would go out of thier way for you. The small town offers many shops and restaurants. The Sulphur mountain cable car to the top is awesome. The scenery is out of this world. If you want first nation Indian stuff to buy there are the shops for it. The Indian museum is great and offers free coffee. Banff is very clean and a pleasure to visit.

We arrived in Banff with no hotel reservations, and stopped at this hotel to book a room. They gave us a good discount on a king suite, which is a beautiful room with a living room, fireplace ,bar, spa tub and dining area. We would rate this room a five except the furniture is very old and worn, scratches on the tables, and the shower is very small for such a nice room. They only left us two bath towels, along with three bathmats. Go figure. Not really worth the price.

The location of this hotel is really good but it could be a lot cleaner, the red covers on the bed were stained and the bathroom was dirty. The owners really should put some money into the upkeep of the hotel. We weren't very impressed with the paper cups for coffee and plastic cups instead of glasses. It's also a very busy hotel for tour groups, avoid the lobby in the afternoons.

It took 20 minuets for the coffee to boil ,2 sachets were not replaced, To me this was an expensive stay in a ONE star backpackers unit

The hotel is conveniently located at the center of town, close to the main street (Banff Ave) as well as the coach station. However, interior decor is somewhat dated so if you are after the newest furnishings, this is not for you. The only other comment is that some of the rooms are not universally accessible, so will be somewhat problematic if you have mobility problems. Overall, a great place to stay!

Great location in downtown Banff. You can walk to all kinds of restaurants. Nice exterior. But the rooms are in drastic need of renovation. Uncomfortable beds, small and STINKY bathrooms, and poor cleanliness make this a very poor choice. Hotel is owned by a tour operator who appears uninterested in keeping the place up.

Great location, some upgrades but can notice that they should have or could have done a bit more. Did accommodate us with our request for two beds but gave us the wrong room key. Called the front desk from our room, no answer and ended up getting the most help from a custodian who opened the door so we didn't have to traipse through the hotel again with our luggage.

While our room was clean and well maintained, we did expect more for our dollar! The beds were very comfortable but the rooms are small and somewhat dated. The rooms were nice, beautiful views, the location was excellent but it was the friendly and knowledgeable staff at front desk that made our stay at Mount Royal Hotel so great. Thomas helped us out with our booking so that we would not have to change rooms during our 4-night stay (it was a busy weekend and we booked somewhat late so rooms were limited). We ended up with a great room with a beautiful view! Sian was also very helpful with her suggestions on what we must see during our short stay a... Read more

I booked through a travel website, which might be why they gave me a room with absolutely no view. The room itself was quite dated; there were nail marks in the walls and the wallpaper was hideous. The toilet paper holder was *almost* falling out of the wall in the bathroom and the ice bucket was covered in dust. HOWEVER, the staff at the front desk were exceptionally friendly, the shower was clean and strong, and the bed was very comfortable. However, the room was dimly lit and poorly decorated... Read more

The best location in town, this could be a really great property. When we got to our rooms I put my purse on the floating night stand and it fell to the floor. We had one washcloth and one hand towel to share and there was no coffee. The room was, however, very roomy and the beds comfortable.

We arrived weary needing a place to rest, fortunately there were a few rooms still available. We had a room on the third floor facing the street, which turned out to be enjoyable not noisy, except for the loud group of girls screaming at 1am. The hotel is on the Main Street which is really handy, great to be able to park at the back and step out the front to all the restaurants and shops. A decent pleasant well equipped hotel which I wouldn't have any qualms in staying here again. Room a good size with all the usual equipment, bed comfy and not disturbed by noise despite overlooking the street. Complimentary car parking to the rear of the hotel. Two gripes to record the first being the temperature of the room was on the cool side which wouldn't suit everyone (heating not switched on until 4th Sept after our visit) and it was a good trek to our room from the lift.

Dust was piled up in the corners and under the bed. Thermostat did not work. No duvet cover on the bed.
