Stayed with my young family. The hotel is showing lots of signs of wear and tear and to me doesn't justify being a 4 star. No iron, no kettle and a run down bathroom with hard beds. The location is a positive, being a block away from Copacabana and the reception team are friendly and helpful. The breakfast too was well stocked and of a good standard.

Overall we had an OK stay here, the first room we were out in was not good, the windows were covered in a a film, the bathroom wasn't clean and on our return from reception to move our bags we were greeted by a large cockroach walking around the floor. Location was good for the beach and there are some nice little eateries nearby, but it is a 5 minute walk to more central areas

We have just returned from a 12 night stay at this hotel. Staff were very friendly and spoke good English at reception. Breakfast was good and the restaurant was good to eat at in the evening. Room was clean and spacious. Bathroom was ok. We only used the pool area once as the weather wasn't the best but it has good views of the city. We also went on one of the tours arranged by the hotel. This included Christ the Redeemer, Sugar Loaf mountain, Maracena stadium and Metropolitan cathedral. I can ... Read more

Hotel is two blocks from copacabana beach. It's the opposite end than ipanema beach but right near sugarloaf (although you'd still need a taxi to get to the bottom of the cable car). The pool isn't huge but it's perfect for cooling off. Breakfast is crazy as it can't really cope with the volume of guests. For the price we paid, we were really happy with this hotel.

This hotel is in a great location for the beach and everything Rio has to offer. We stayed for three nights and found the room large and very clean. The pool was great and we enjoyed the sauna in our room. The staff were really helpful and allowed us to store our bags for a few days before us checking in whilst we went on a tour. Breakfast was plentiful with lots of options. I would definitely recommend this place.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here - the reception were very helpful and friendly and as a group of girls travelling alone they always called taxis for us and made sure it was safe. The room was spacious and very clean and we would definitely stay here again!

This hotel is within easy walking distance to many things-- the Metro, the beach, a nice variety of good restaurants and many bus lines. As with any hotel anywhere, there are always some positive and negative aspects. Positive>> great roof deck pool, magnificent breakfast buffet, comfortable beds, good air conditioning and cable TV, front desk staff helpful and accommodating. Rooms were very clean. Negatives>> all room floors and all halls are granite, so if someone closes their door har... Read more

Am staying for 3 nights at the RRP hotel in Copacabana, Rio de Janeiro. My room - decent size - decent furniture includes a bathroom with a jacuzzi and a sauna ! Not bad , right ? Right ! Except that the toilet flooded and there was no hot water in my shower . The maintenance man came by and said that I have to wait 20 -30 minutes to get the hot water to kick in . Really ? Is he serious ? Frankly I feel like the Australian athletes in their first day in the Olymoic villa . Such a shame because... Read more

Everything was a bit shabby, and our room was hands down the noisiest I have ever had - it was as though it had no door or windows as you could hear every footstep in the corridor and every shout from the street. This was paired with ongoing renovations in the hotel, green mould around the airconditioner, stains around the bathroom countertop wall, and a thick smell of something (maybe citronella?) throughout our floor. In fairness the hotel did some have desireable features such as good WiFi, ... Read more

The room was very nice, although you could hear a lot of noise from the corridor. The staff are lovely, mostly speak good English and are keen to help. One of the bar staff made the best caipirinhas we've had in Brazil (and we've had a few!). The restaurant was good if ordering from the menu, although the buffet was a bit random. Water pressure in the rooms was variable, but the shower was good.

Excellent hotel and very helpful staff that upgraded my room, assisted me with guided tours, visiting nearby attractions and safely enjoying my stay. My room was spacious and clean. The breakfast buffet was amazing. The location is excellent and safe - 2 min walk to the beach, 5 min walk to cardeal arcoverde metro station (20 min ride to santos dumont airport), plenty of restaurants/banks/groceries nearby (Mr. Fit, Amir, Pao de Acucar grocery, subway, azumi, etc. & plenty of restaurants on the b... I stayed here for over a month on a business trip. The hotel is in a good location with a few min walk to the metro station and a short stroll to the beach. Staff are very helpful, welcoming and help in any way they can. The hotel itself is noisy and echoes, I moved rooms 4 times!soundproofing in this hotel is bad. The noise from people above, next door, toilets flushing taps and Showers running doors slamming chairs being dragged along the floor believe me you might not get a good sleep. ... Read more

There was some confusion when we first checked in. Hotel staff was extremely rude the entire stay and wanted make a quick dollar off of anything and everything. I needed an ironing board and iron to iron some clothing and was told that the maid would do it for me and it would be an extra charge. As little as you already pay the staff, why would you outsource such a simple task to them and still require your guests to pay for it. Front staff always had an attitude when we wanted to convert US Dol... Read more

I moved from a supposedly 3 star hotel into this 4 star hotel. What a difference a star makes! Big room with 2 king sized beds, bathroom including a sauna and a nice rooftop pool with a great view. Morning breakfast was great! Staff were very friendly and at least one person manning the desk spoke English at all times. It was close to metro, easy to get a cab, and enough foot traffic I felt safe walking around later at night. It's only a few blocks off the beach. Very close to several res... Read more

It was interesting to read a very recent review and I apologise for taking the same title to emphasise the point . The irony is that the Hotel is in a perfect location for the Copocabana, the facilities at the Hotel are very good with nice clean and spacious rooms with a lovely roof terrace with a lovely view and a Pool. The Breakfasts were great and the staff in the Restaurant were very pleasant with us throughout. The Reception staff on the other hand were awful from the minute we arrived - ... Read more

I stayed here during the Olympic Games. It's a clean 3 star hotel - nothing special and some bits of the hotel could do with updating. What makes this hotel is the staff. They are on the whole very helpful and welcoming.

We enjoyed our stay at the Royal Rio Palace. It has a great location in Copacabana, with the beach 2 blocks in one direction, and the Metro 2 blocks in the other. Room was comfortable and quiet. Front desk staff were helpful, although at times they were clearly overwhelmed by the number of people seeking their attention. Breakfast buffet was quite extensive, and although very crowded on the weekend, was much calmer during the week.

I was here for Christmas/NY wth friends. Hotels in Rio are overpriced in general and this is my third time there so I knew that. But this hotel is shabby, dirty, noisy and hit and miss as to whether you get a rude Carioca on reception or a nice one. Wifi is intermittent and at breakfast you can see how overcrowded the hotel is. The staff at breakfast were excellent and I have to credit them. The reception staff were poor, the cleaners, some good some really really bad. Hot water sometimes 'ran o... Read more
