A lovely hotel with great charm and character, built on the hillside at the top of a hill. Beautiful views across Rio with the Cristo Redentor in the distance lit up above the church roofs and spires. Santa Teresa is an edgy but up-and-coming neighbourhood, fairly central within Rio itself. It's pretty safe to walk around at night, so long as you 'normally cautious' ie don't wear obvious jewellery or carry expensive things. Away from the craziness of Rio, it is a little oasis with a nice restaurant a nice little pool and a beautiful view. The breakfast buffet is extremely varied and delicious with fresh pandequeso served straight from the oven (look out for the waiter with the basket and the little bread balls). The fruits are delicious and there was even Spanish ham (jamon iberico!!). The room is beautiful, rustic but very comfortable. The bar, descasados, I think was the name has very strong caipirinhas and a nic... Read more

This hotel was wonderful. It was cozy, personal and not by the beach (wasn't looking for the beach). The restaurant was lovely for dinner with excellent food and very affordable chilean and Argentinean wine. Breakfast comes with the booking and I enjoyed that too. I had a spa treatment and the massage was average. Take the time to walk around Santa Teresa in the morning, the town is lovely, I didn't feel unsafe.
