Away from the craziness of Rio, it is a little oasis with a nice restaurant a nice little pool and a beautiful view. The breakfast buffet is extremely varied and delicious with fresh pandequeso served straight from the oven (look out for the waiter with the basket and the little bread balls). The fruits are delicious and there was even Spanish ham (jamon iberico!!). The room is beautiful, rustic but very comfortable. The bar, descasados, I think was the name has very strong caipirinhas and a nic... Read more

This hotel was wonderful. It was cozy, personal and not by the beach (wasn't looking for the beach). The restaurant was lovely for dinner with excellent food and very affordable chilean and Argentinean wine. Breakfast comes with the booking and I enjoyed that too. I had a spa treatment and the massage was average. Take the time to walk around Santa Teresa in the morning, the town is lovely, I didn't feel unsafe.

The hotel is really exceptionally lovely. We did not stay here at the hotel but frequented it to use its facilities. Just sitting by the pool would be enough - its totally worth taking an afternoon out of your day to escape the hustle of the city in this lovely escape! - but then you have the impeccable decoration, the large, spacious rooms (we checked out a junior suite as a potential yoga space for yoga retreats), the amazing food at the restaurant (its a little pricey but still, really lovely... I was booked in to this hotel as surprise in March for my 30th birthday. I am usually a tad fussy when it comes to 5* hotels as I find they so often let me down. However, the design, staff and service here did not falter once. Champagne on arrival, more birthday cakes than I knew what to do with, excellent local knowledge and just simply beautiful service. I have literally recommended this hotel to everyone I know and if your considering it, please go ahead and do it. The hotel is beautif... Read more

Perfect end to South America tour. Relaxing hotel with great restaurant in interesting and convenient part of Rio. Hotel made everything work seamlessly from drivers to very good guide and late checkout.

Hotel Santa Teresa is our best option to stay in Rio. I do share the opinion with my wife that the neighbourhood has a special charm in town inspiring history, art and romance. This state is a pearl in excellent location (be aware that is not quite near the beach or regular nightclubs) and offers silence, comfort and entertainment. The pool and its bar is very relaxing although the prices of beer and water in the hotel are expensive, more than four times supermarketâ??s average. So be careful to... Read more

Landed here from the states. The place is a refuge. Great food, wonderful people, lovely view, sweet neighborhood. Room was excellent. Nothing but good things to day. Much preferred to Copa or Ipanema. Up a cobbly hill, so you will bounce a bit getting here, but worth it for us. Tip: Uber works fine in Rio, with cars that are better on average than taxis with shot suspensions. Prices are crazy cheap. Either take the hotel car ($$ but nice) or Uber. Taxi drivers we met were great, but the cars ... Read more

We stayed at this hip little hotel in February for five days. We initially had an issue with our room since we arrived late. We had requested a balcony and assumed this was going to be honored since we did not hear otherwise (booked through Mr and Mrs Smith so may have been an issue with the web site as opposed to the hotel itself). The initial room was fine but we upgraded to a suite since we needed the balcony and the space (we were going to entertain friends). The design of the hotel is ... Read more

Hotel is beautiful. Staff was very helpful and caring. Breakfast was served in a nice open restaurant. Lots of wooden art pieces. Memorable place to stay in Rio and great point to start the city tour (tram is located close by). Not cheap but worth it, especially for the couples

This was an interesting hotel with unique rooms that were not cookie cutter. Good alternative to staying in crowded beach area with nice bar and excellent restaurant on premises. Staff was very helpful even when my arrival was delayed. Very interesting area of town up on one of the small hill tops. Minor issue with internet connectivity but would stay again next trip to Rio

Hotel is nice, restaurant good, beautiful area of Rio. It could be perfect if it was not for the bathroom of the room. Door is broken, ventilation is broken, you have to run water for 15 minutes to have it lukewarm. But the best is the toilette which breaks. Very negative experience. Never again .

Actually visited the place to celebrate anniversary with my "better me". It was literally awesome. A nice suite with all it takes to be romantic. Great sun set terrace with best cocktails and great oversight on rio. The old tram a la Lisbon and very authentic neighborhood including small libraries (books souvenirs as well as local Samba CDs) are epic.. The team was pretty nice , prices not too bad and it really changes from Ipanema, Copa as well as the Red "Upper-class" hills. My wife loved it a... Read more

The Accor group have recently taken over this hotel from Relais & Chateaux and the latter normally has a very good reputation for service so Accor will have some work to do. Some comments for the management to consider: - Rubbish curtains! The room curtains do not pull back and forth easily. While good at blocking the light it's like trying to do a marathon! - Don't be fooled by the sitting room area described in the rooms. It's not worth it; over cluttered so it renders the space useless a... Read more

For ease of reading, I'll list the pros and cons for our three night stay. My sister's wedding took place at the hotel on day two. Santa Teresa Hotel Pros - We booked five rooms so the hotel was full and we were all upgraded - Our junior suite was superb - Breakfast was nice - Location was good - very close to a free tram and a couple of restaurants - My sister's wedding ran smoothly and staff were attentive - Our Al-a-Carte evening meal for my sister's wedding was excellent, however dinin... We were very excited to get to know santa Teresa we had many great reviews! The neighborhood is amazing very different fro the rio that we are used to. But the hotel was a huge disappointment! The hotel was not in a good shape specially for a 5 star hotel. There was a very bad smell of mold in the room and the walls had cracks and infiltration marks! Also the room was dirty and the towel were in a very bad shape, the phone was not working and after many requests to fix it nothing was done... The... Read more

I was disappointed with the service from the beginning to the end. On the top of it the air conditioner was making a loud noise. Horrible breakfast, not many to choose from, the omelette was really oily, it took a very long time to be prepared.

The Santa Teresa oozes style and serenity - perfectly situated, you feel totally cocooned when you are inside. Breakfast and sitting by the pool are especially memorable experiences. Any questions were quickly answered and getting us to the airport in the middle of the night was no problem.

We had the most wonderful stay at this hotel. A slice of pure paradise in Rio, tranquil, quiet and beautifully designed. Great food and the bar is brilliant. A spa, a pool with a killer view and elegant, understated chic throughout. We absolutely loved it. Very happy memories.

Let's start with the positive aspects of my stay: The staff was simply adorable and tried their very best to make my stay comfortable. Moreover, the food was delicious. This said, my experience at the Santa Teresa Hotel wasn't at all what I had expected... and what you can reasonably ask from a hotel of this standing and price: - The first room I was offered was really loud (the airport isn's far) and the second (I asked to change room) was smelly (mould, I guess); - There was no buffet for the ... I was disappointed by my stay at this hotel. Only one of the staff members spoke English. We tried to get a couples massage at the spa but could not because only one therapist worked there (then why advertise a couples massage?). "Optional" room tax I had to take off my bill. Light out in the room that was never replaced. Had to wait over 45 minutes at checkout for a taxi to the airport. Not a good value for the money. I expected more, especially for the price they charged. Would not sta... Read more

We stayed here for four nights of our honeymoon. The hotel is beautiful and the rooms very nice (although not as big as expected - not that this was a bad thing). The breakfast menu was amazing, consisting of fruits, bread, jams, cakes and a made to order menu of eggs/pancakes etc. The staff were brilliant and even arranged a surprise bottle of sparkles for us to celebrate. This place is perfect if you want to stay somewhere more luxury without the standardised feel of the chain hotels. We also... Read more
