Asked for--and received--a room with a view of the falls. This hotel is pure pleasure. Amenities include an iced towel while alongside the pool in the heat of the afternoon, complimentary hors d'oevres, spectacular service by all staff, and (read all the other reviews!). Go up into the tower for sunset over the falls. You won't forget it. The tariff is steep, but you DO get very high value...and then some.

From the moment we arrived at the hotel we were struck by the fantastic service, amenities and wonderful atmosphere. The hotel is obviously in an incredible location in the heart of the Iguazu national park, and this allows guests to visit the falls when the tour buses have left - a great bonus. But the quality of the rooms, pool area, bars and restaurants match what you will see when you walk down the steps to see the falls.

Yes it is a luxurious hotel in the middle of the rain forest. As a result they can charge what they like. I'm happy to pay the big bucks for accommodation, food, wine etc. But when I was charged $R22 for ordinary ice to but on a rash, I really felt like I was being price gouged.... better bring your Black Amex. The Sheraton was across the river and had a better view of the falls...... just saying..

Lovely hotel located within the National Park with close proximity to the falls. Able to visit the falls before the park opens to the public which is a big plus. Rooms comfortable and elegant. Staff very professional and friendly. They have a lovely public area with an open fireplace which gives terrific ambiance. Many species of birds can also be found in the trees within the grounds. As it was Autumn didnt use pool area but it looked lovely.

The main advantage is that the hotel is less than 100 meter from the trail, and the view of the falls. Early in the morning, one can have the view to himself/herself before the busloads of people start arriving. This alone makes the extra expense worth it. In addition, the hotel itself is excellent. Room, premises, services, are of very high quality. I was particularly impressed by the Itaipu restaurant, where the food is absolutely delicious!

We really enjoyed our stay at the Belmond, which is perfectly positioned for an early morning trip to the falls. The room was lovely and the staff really helpful and friendly. The only problem we had was that it is not prepared for the cold. We couldn't get our room warm and it looked really strange to see people eating in their outdoor clothes in the restaurant! Having said that the barbecue was very good and we would recommend it. Just make sure you either don't go in the cold season or you ta... Read more

This hotel is worth the splurge - it's the only hotel inside the national park so you can walk out the front door and be on the path along the waterfalls in 2 minutes. We stumbled on this through a promo that brought the price down a bit cheaper than the other hotel we were considering. What a find! A super property that is in the park so when the park closes, you still have free run of it. Does what it says on tin. Excellent hotel with excellent staff, lovely rooms, but carries a price tag to match. After review of the available hotels we selected Belmon Hotel das Cataratas as our luxury treat in our South American holiday. It did not disappoint. The location is great. We saw beautiful sunsets over the falls and it was great being able to wander along the paths after the majority of tourists had left the park. The hotel itself was beautiful. The room was comfortable and had a nice view into the garden. The pool area was very nice and very relaxing especially after walking around the fal... Read more

After the Olympics my wife and I decided to take a side trip to Iguacu Falls. It turned out to be as exciting as any event at the Olympics except it wasn't athletic. The hotel was a experience in itself. The view of the falls from the terrace was worth the somewhat high cost. If you are going to see the falls once in your life you must stay at this hotel. In addition the staff was outstanding. They anticipated are every need.

Belmond Hotel das Cataratas is an amazing property inside The National Park of Iguazu. It gives you a unique access to the park early in the morning and late in the evening, outside of the hours when general public is admitted. It probably costs 5 times more than the hotel in 25km radius but it is so worth it. You are there for a few days only, hey, and need to take a full advantage of this time. The location, the scenery and the pool and outstanding. So is the food in both hotel's restaurants, ... Read more

First of all; you want luxury, you pay for it. That said, this is an amazing hotel with dito staff. The beds are comfy, the food is great (incl the breakfast buffet), and the hotel has a lot of facilities to entertain you when you're not visiting the falls. It was raining a lot during our stay, so we played table tennis and relaxed in the piano bar. Staff speaks perfect english, is really friendly and kind. If I had to give some critique its that they could loosen up a bit. Sometimes they ar... Read more

We loved the Belmond, we we offered an upgrade to a suite for a good price when we arrived as there was three of us in one room. Beautiful spacious room with a view and very comfortable bed. We loved all the dining options, Brazilian bbq, A la Carte and bar with snacks. Breakfast was wonderful, we loved the champagne with all the delicious options. Wonderful pool area and the spa experience was exceptional. Staff were courteous and friendly. We loved being able to visit the falls at anytime we w... Read more

If you're going to visit Iguacu Falls (and you really should), I can't imagine that there's a better place to stay. There's practically nothing wrong with this hotel ... except that it's first-world expensive. The location is ideal (our window looked out over the falls, and once you cross the road, you're on the main trail to see the Brazilian side). The staff is friendly, efficient, and speaks elaborately good English. The pool is large and well equipped with chairs, towels, and a bar. ... Read more

I had a fabulous stay at the Belmond Catataras Falls Hotel. A gem of a location as its right in the park and you can walk any time along the 2km falls trails before all the day tour crowds arrive and after they depart. I cannot fault the hotel in any way. its built in 1958 and USA$20 million was spent on a classy reburbishment in 2008. It was expensive but I got a winter deal of staying 4 nights and I received 25% off. It was still expensive with the discount but I would rate the friendl... Read more

We travelled to Foz de Iguazu for a weekend and wanted to take full advantage of our limited time there. The Hotel is located inside the National Park. As soon as you step out of the hotel's main entrance youc an see the falls. The view is spectacular. There are trails and many acitivities to do on the grounds. Security is excellent. The hotel itself is fabulous. I was a little annoyed that as a family of 4 we had to rent two rooms. Only one child is permitted to stay with parents. We d... Read more

Without a doubt the best decision you could make if you visit the Iguazu Falls - stay in the Belmond. The service, food quality and comfort is only surpassed by it's location - the only hotel in the National Park which means you can walk on the beautiful paths to view the falls either before or after all the crazy tourists have left.Worth every cent - indulge yourself!

This is really the only place to stay if you wish to visit the Iguassu Falls. Situated right inside the national Brazilian park, days can be spent doing various activities offered by the hotel including a boat trip along the river and being splashed by the falls. The hotel, although old, has all the amenities expected from a 5 star hotel.

This couldn't have been more perfect to start my vacation. After 4 months in Rio, coming here to Hotel das Cataratas was amazing. The staff is incredible. They are always making sure you have everything you need to make your trip enjoyable and most importantly comfortable. I only had 1 1/2 days here, so it was nice to be able to be inside the Foz do Igua├žu National Park. Start your morning with a hike down to Devils Throat, it's a nice walk down to where the falls converge. However, be prep... Read more

Being able to access the Brazilian catwalks before it opens up to the public is a real treat! The pool and service is amazing - a great way to wind down after a day of exploring the area! I liked Ipe more than Itaipu - more so because of the service (it's buffet vs "fine dining") I found Itaipu to be a bit leering in service when I wanted my space and not to be stared out for my plate to finish - the food was excellent - played around with molecular gastronomy. Ipe is more laidback because its b... Read more

When you are the Falls there are basically two places to stay, The Sheraton on the Argentinian side or the Belmond on the Brazilian side. We chose very well. Positioned high on the side of the Falls with a a terrific view & great walks. This is a colonial style building with lovely tropical grounds, with a large swimming pool, tennis courts. Plenty of places to sit & have a drink & very good restaurants available. We would have little our room to be a little larger, but it was very well appoint... Read more

Situated in the core of the Iguassu (Iguacu) Falls Park across the waterfalls, on the Brazilian side, this old colonial type hotel has been completely renovated under the management of Belmond Hotels making it one of the top destination hotels of the world. The services is exemplary, the food in the two restaurants (one is by the enormous pool and at night serves as a "rodisio" or "churascaria", barbecue with multiple add ons (salads, deserts, fish, pasta, something for everyone), the other bein... We stayed at both the Sheraton on the Argentina side and the Belmont, and the Belmont was vastly superior!! Everything was flawless, and the staff really treated us like royalty. This is one of the best hotels we have visited, and everyone went the extra mile to make us feel special. And the location is awesome.

One of the main reasons we booked the hotel was its location in the Iguacu Falls National Park, very close to the falls and walking path on the Brazilian side. To say they are close is a bit of an understatement as the view from the taxi on arrival was amazing. With the viewing platform being no more than a 150 metre from the hotel entrance, you could not ask for more. The hotel basically had everything you would want from the comfortable rooms, through to the public areas, bars, pool and pleas... Read more

I stayed there for two days, before going to Argentina. The rooms are so big, and you'll find the modern and the old in the same place. The breakfast is the best. You can go to the Igua├žu Falls walking under the trees. It'll be an amazing experience !

We arrived at this colonial style hotel and were greeted with enthusiasm and care. We arrived without our luggage and were immediate taken care of by Natasha. The service is 5 star! You have access to the national Park 24/7 and can view the falls after and before all the tourists are there. This is a bucket list destination!! Excursions are organised through the concierge. This was done very professionally. Food and drink is of a high standard. I would love to come back here!!!
