Resort Details

Dating to 1885, the hotel embodies Bermuda`s history as a vacation destination-all chronicled on a wall with photographs and notes-and continues to serve as the island`s `Grande Dame` social center, located on 400 yards of harborfront. The hotel`s storied history includes service during World War II as the Allies` Atlantic intelligence center, housing 1,200 agents known as the Princess Spies.

Harbor-side alfresco dining is featured at Harley`s Restaurant and Terrace, where prime aged beef and breakfast buffets are available. Afternoon tea is served at Heritage Court, while unique butler service is available for candlelight dinners on Guestroom terraces.

Although not on a beach, the Fairmont features 2 90-by-35-foot pools, 1 freshwater and the other saltwater, surrounded by terra-cotta sun-decks furnished with lounge chairs. The fitness center offers state of the art fitness equipment, and 2 saunas. The adjoining Inverurie Day Spa showcases such indulgences as the sun lover facial, an oxygenating treatment that uses handmade stone crop masques and licorice serum to tone and heal sun-damaged skin. The bed of roses facial melds hand-crushed petals from 2 dozen Bulgarian roses, rosehips and carrot vitamin treatments to exfoliate, treat and balance.

Entertainment & Activities

A lighted concrete path with teak deck chairs runs 400 yards along the harbor. From here, guests take a complimentary shuttle boat 25 minutes across the harbor to a companion resort, the Fairmont Southampton, where they enjoy access to a private beach; an 18-hole, par-3 executive golf course; a 30,000-square-foot health-and-beauty spa featuring a large indoor pool and spacious spa tubs on ocean-view sun-decks; and 9 restaurants, including 1 in a house dating from the mid-17th century.

The Fairmont Hamilton Princess brings the unique elegance of The Fairmont to a downtown location. There are 3 restaurants of which one is by Chef Marcus Samuelson. The bar is top notch and draws a crowd every night. The spa and fine shops are currently under construction but the rest of the hotel is wonderful. The rooms are spacious, the service with a smile is top notch. There's an awesome infinity pool with a beautiful deck. There's also a shuttle to the Princess Beach Club which is a priv... Read more

Great staff with a great in-town location. The two new restaurants (1609 and Marcus) are a nice addition. The new sleek contemporary Crown and Anchor lobby restaurant/bar area could be improved, it lacks personality. I miss the old lobby bar area, it was a perfect place for tea. Can't wait for the renovations to be finished.

Lovely club room, spacious and comfortable....and the "club" itself one of the best we've ever been to. Besutiful, elegant decor, delicious nibbles and afternoon tea. Breakfast selection daily just lovely. Staff a delight, every single one friendly and helpful and charming. A minor problem with out room was sorted out in minutes. I recently stayed at the Hamilton Princess Hotel. The room I had was a suite and had been recently renovated and was quite nice. The only issue with the hotel is the significant renovations currently underway. The staff is very friendly and accommodating. We also had a few meals at the hotel restaurants and was very pleased with both the food and service.

We are regular travellers to Bermuda, but this was our first stay at this property........it won't be the last. The location is excellent and the people are warm, friendly and helpful. George, Lindsay, Michael and Raj in the gold lounge were absolutely brilliant and Donna on the concierge desk was particularly helpful. The property was undergoing some renovation (due to finish in July '16, but the reason I can't rate the property as "excellent") so we were unable to use all the facilities, but w... Read more

The hotel is under construction, but if you want attentive service, high quality food, beautiful view and atmosphere, there is no other option. I stayed here on business in May and Fairmont understands business clients and is consistent in their approach of outstanding service. And if they don't get it right, there is no excuses, they fix it. Will be back here again without a doubt. I suggest dining at the outdoor restaurant overlooking the harbor, bring a large group, you will enjoy it. S... Read more

My Family checked into this resort on May 27-we had 2 rooms, check-in was 3:00-one room was ready at 4:30-the other was ready at 6:30. No apologies-just a lack of service from the beginning. Andre the manager seemed very overwhelmed and would hide from individuals trying to check-in. One room was dirty-popcorn on bed, water bottles in trash can, fruit snacks on beds. I took pictures and submitted to the assistant manager but never responded to me. Service was very slow at all restaurants- 1... Read more

Most staff is nice and polite, but some are very poorly trained which makes service highly inconsistent. Came in for Newport Bèmuda race this place came recommended. It was a great call. Sometimes it's nice to be away from it all. In bermuda, being away is tough- car rentals don't exist, mopeds are dangerous and cabs get expensive fast. Being close to town allows you to explore. Plus, a market across the street helps, grab a bottle of rum and sit by the pool. A shuttle to the beach gets you to the old Sonesta hotel beach and the good is great. We visited back in May; part business trip, part vacation. I think this property rests on its history too much. The amenities and service did not match the 5-star rating. The not so good: 1) We were not impressed with check in. We had a welcome reception scheduled for 7:30 pm our first night. We booked the hotel months in advance. The hotel didn't tell us it was hosting their VIPs that weekend. Well we paid thousands of dollars and were treated like third class citizens. The music was so loud it was vibrating the beds. There were broken wine glasses on the walls and sidewalks as we walked to the pool. We had to wait over an hour for drinks poolside. Fairmont has a problem: they assume "traditional" and "classic" decor means no need to renovate. Their properties are typically well-located, expansive, and generally provide decent service. We faced the water and boats. it was nice to relax on the deck. We made arrangements through the hotel for transportation from airport. They did mess up our transfer to the hotel and they did apologize. We talked to concerierge multiple times about the transfer leaving. we changed the time and it and it never went through to CEO service but... Best of both worlds! The greatest location for shopping and a five-minute walk into the beautiful Hamilton shopping district or restaurants like Little Venice (a must try), and a gorgeous harbor/marina to enjoy while poolside at the infinity pool or eating at 1609 or Marcus's. Or if you prefer, have the hotel shuttle take your party to the beach club for a day in the sun at the private beach ~7 miles away. It has attended chairs, a full restaurant and bar, gorgeous cliff top lookout, pink sand b... Read more

Had lunch there with a large group of friends on a very rainy day! Spent a fabulous long lunch and afternoon. Great food and fabulously relaxing atmosphere. Interiors are tasteful and comfortable. Modern art is of museum quality.

If you can do it, spring for the GOLD! The attention to detail, artwork, cleanliness, modern decor and service were truly unparalleled. The breakfast and evening cocktail hour were substantial and gourmet to the highest degree. The wines and champagnes served were also excellent quality. In fact, our family plans to visit for a full seven days next year with friends and family. Restaurant quality at 1609 and pool were excellent, though service at restaurant on the slow side. Service and fo... Read more

The Fairmont Princess is an average hotel. It is a pretty property and the location can't be beat. Our room number was 148. Just to get to our room involved a few doors that are locked - at one point during our vacation, I was locked within a small corridor until a bellboy came by. No one told me I had to wave my hand in front of a sensor to open the door. The corridor to our room smelled musty and upon opening the door to our room, we were met by a jolt of similar musty smelling odors. The air ... Read more

We had a great time. The staff is outstanding. The facilities are beautiful. Our third stay. The new beach club is about a 20 minute ride, but a beautiful spot. Recommend paying the extra for the Gold rooms. The extra service is worth the difference

We recently stayed at this hotel for 4 nights and enjoyed every minute. The hotel has been recently refurbished and the grounds and rooms are immaculate. The staff from the doorman to the greens keepers were friendly and made you feel welcome. We booked a Gold package which included a room with a balcony overlooking the harbor, gorgeous view..... The package is a great deal as it included special priority check in, breakfast, afternoon tea, cocktails and wine with hors d'oeuvres, and evening... Read more

Had to review this hotel after seeing the last review by someone (who was apparently there while I was there and only staying a few rooms down) who is completely wrong. I'm a man, I don't use shower caps, but there was one in the bathroom provided for free (who uses those anyways?). I didn't get caught in any hallways (or small corridors) because since 1980 everyone knows to swipe your card. It's safe, I like that - not just anyone can get into your building. The rooms were plenty cool at 65 ... Read more

Made a last minute reservation to go to Bermuda with my wife to celebrate our 28th anniversary. We spent our honeymoon in Bermuda and had not been back since. It was a short easy flight from NY and even with the time change (it is an hour later in Bermuda) we arrived at the hotel before noon. We booked a gold room which is similar to a concierge floor in other hotels. We had a separate check in and was surprised to find our room was ready for us even though check in is at 4. Our room was beautif... Read more
