Resort Details

Dating to 1885, the hotel embodies Bermuda`s history as a vacation destination-all chronicled on a wall with photographs and notes-and continues to serve as the island`s `Grande Dame` social center, located on 400 yards of harborfront. The hotel`s storied history includes service during World War II as the Allies` Atlantic intelligence center, housing 1,200 agents known as the Princess Spies.

Harbor-side alfresco dining is featured at Harley`s Restaurant and Terrace, where prime aged beef and breakfast buffets are available. Afternoon tea is served at Heritage Court, while unique butler service is available for candlelight dinners on Guestroom terraces.

The fitness center offers state of the art fitness equipment, and 2 saunas. The adjoining Inverurie Day Spa showcases such indulgences as the sun lover facial, an oxygenating treatment that uses handmade stone crop masques and licorice serum to tone and heal sun-damaged skin. The bed of roses facial melds hand-crushed petals from 2 dozen Bulgarian roses, rosehips and carrot vitamin treatments to exfoliate, treat and balance.

Entertainment & Activities

A lighted concrete path with teak deck chairs runs 400 yards along the harbor. From here, guests take a complimentary shuttle boat 25 minutes across the harbor to a companion resort, the Fairmont Southampton, where they enjoy access to a private beach; an 18-hole, par-3 executive golf course; a 30,000-square-foot health-and-beauty spa featuring a large indoor pool and spacious spa tubs on ocean-view sun-decks; and 9 restaurants, including 1 in a house dating from the mid-17th century.

This is a great hotel, near everything, with a new private beach. The infinity pool is so relaxing. The grilled chicken wings at the beach bar ro ked, even at $18 per order. We had a suite near the pool, which was awesome.

The Fairmont Hamilton Princess brings the unique elegance of The Fairmont to a downtown location. There are 3 restaurants of which one is by Chef Marcus Samuelson. The bar is top notch and draws a crowd every night. The spa and fine shops are currently under construction but the rest of the hotel is wonderful. The rooms are spacious, the service with a smile is top notch. There's an awesome infinity pool with a beautiful deck. There's also a shuttle to the Princess Beach Club which is a priv... Read more

Great staff with a great in-town location. The two new restaurants (1609 and Marcus) are a nice addition. The new sleek contemporary Crown and Anchor lobby restaurant/bar area could be improved, it lacks personality. I miss the old lobby bar area, it was a perfect place for tea. Can't wait for the renovations to be finished.

Lovely club room, spacious and comfortable....and the "club" itself one of the best we've ever been to. Besutiful, elegant decor, delicious nibbles and afternoon tea. Breakfast selection daily just lovely. Staff a delight, every single one friendly and helpful and charming. A minor problem with out room was sorted out in minutes. Hotel location is perfect also, just a few minutes walk to Front street with it's varied shops, cafés and bars. Hotel complex itself pretty near perfect to... Read more

I recently stayed at the Hamilton Princess Hotel. The room I had was a suite and had been recently renovated and was quite nice. The only issue with the hotel is the significant renovations currently underway. The staff is very friendly and accommodating. We also had a few meals at the hotel restaurants and was very pleased with both the food and service.

We are regular travellers to Bermuda, but this was our first stay at this won't be the last. The location is excellent and the people are warm, friendly and helpful. George, Lindsay, Michael and Raj in the gold lounge were absolutely brilliant and Donna on the concierge desk was particularly helpful. The property was undergoing some renovation (due to finish in July '16, but the reason I can't rate the property as "excellent") so we were unable to use all the facilities, but w... Read more

The hotel is under construction, but if you want attentive service, high quality food, beautiful view and atmosphere, there is no other option. I stayed here on business in May and Fairmont understands business clients and is consistent in their approach of outstanding service. And if they don't get it right, there is no excuses, they fix it. Will be back here again without a doubt. I suggest dining at the outdoor restaurant overlooking the harbor, bring a large group, you will enjoy it. S... Read more

I went with my daughter and we had a wonderful time. The staff was helpful and wonderful. The service was excellent. We ended up eating at 1609 at least 3 times during our stay and our experience was wonderful each time. Bogdon was the server by the pool one day and he was great! Others like Ahmed and Sylvester also made our stay extra special. A

My Family checked into this resort on May 27-we had 2 rooms, check-in was 3:00-one room was ready at 4:30-the other was ready at 6:30. No apologies-just a lack of service from the beginning. Andre the manager seemed very overwhelmed and would hide from individuals trying to check-in. One room was dirty-popcorn on bed, water bottles in trash can, fruit snacks on beds. I took pictures and submitted to the assistant manager but never responded to me. Service was very slow at all restaurants- 1... Read more

The hotel is undergoing renovations but that doesn't take away from its great views. Within walking distance to Some great restaurants and shopping areas. There used to be a ferry to the other Fairmont property but that seems to be gone now or perhaps not in season. Very friendly staff. The infinity pool is perfect to watch the sunset and evening boats go by.

We were delighted by the quality of our suite, the friendliness and quality of the staff and the excellent food and service in the three restaurants we ate in. The position is excellent, overlooking the harbour and the Sound and the hotel pool brilliant, with another soon to be opened.

We were on a cruise and went with another couple for "High Tea", but were to late and service was finished, so we just had some cocktails and pastries. They were very nice and enjoyed that. Then we strolled around the grounds for a while before walking back into town.

This is a beautiful property. Staff was pleasant and helpful at all times. Exceptional views, worth their prices. Great restaurant options. Views from 1609 were breath taking. I was uncertain prior to booking but after this experience I would return to this property without hesitation.

My husband and I stayed here for 4 nights in May (departing on Bermuda Day) for a mini vacation. The location is perfect - I was waffling between choosing lodgings near/in Hamilton or a beach resort but am positive we made the best choice. Pros: - location - range of amenities - the absolutely gorgeous pool - good front desk service/doormen (awesome), concierge - rooms are comfortable - the restaurants Cons: - construction when we were there but it wasn't horrible just inconvenient - so pri... Great location with amazing views of the bay. That's pretty much all the good things I can say about the hotel. Most staff is nice and polite, but some are very poorly trained which makes service highly inconsistent. Upon check in, the lady at the reception made absolutely no eye contact, didn't offer any info about the hotel (also missing from the room- you would usually expect some sort of brochure with services provided?!?)- very surprised to check in without showing any sort of identificatio... Lovely, tasteful, elegant, convenient...just can't wait for them to finish renovating....but it's a terrific hotel. I was in the renovated wing, big rooms. Room service was prompt. Nice fridge there to store your own drinks or food, which is a good idea since a cocktail at the bar will be at least $12. Breakfast was $28 for continental. Pools are gorgeous. I did not get a chance to check out the spa or the new restaurant, Marcus. Maybe on my next business trip. I also rented a jet ski from thei... Read more

Came in for Newport Bèmuda race this place came recommended. It was a great call. Sometimes it's nice to be away from it all. In bermuda, being away is tough- car rentals don't exist, mopeds are dangerous and cabs get expensive fast. Being close to town allows you to explore. Plus, a market across the street helps, grab a bottle of rum and sit by the pool. A shuttle to the beach gets you to the old Sonesta hotel beach and the good is great. Làst point, the hotel manages a huge, private... Read more

The Hamilton Princess is a beautiful looking hotel. It has supposedly been recently refurbished, at least partially. All of the public areas are gorgeous and the art collection scattered about the property is a very nice touch!! You will really believe you have entered a hotel worthy of the Fairmont branding as a luxury hotel. Our first room was in the main building and was a little claustrophobic. There was no balcony and one window only opened about 4 inches. The other didn't open at all. Al... Read more

We visited back in May; part business trip, part vacation. I think this property rests on its history too much. The amenities and service did not match the 5-star rating. The not so good: 1) We were not impressed with check in. We had a welcome reception scheduled for 7:30 pm our first night. Many of our rooms were not ready until well after check in, so much so that the hotel was offering a "changing area," so we could prepare for the cocktail reception. The Princess Hotels in Bermuda are the place to stay. This location certainly has its charm. It is like a very nice Marriott (not Ritz Carlton or Four Seasons), with some exceptional points. The spa/gym is incredible. Run by EXHALE, the yoga class was great. The teacher taught to the level of the class. Wish she had taken us outside and that the schedule offered more classes. The massage was phenomenal. My only regret was not booking a longer one. I wish I had time for nails, as that area was... Read more

We have been to the island 37 times since 1981; probably 30 times at The Princess. We have no problem with the modernization of the grounds (except Pumpkin and Champion artwork), pool, spa, etc. but feel that Bermuda has been stripped from the hotel; it looks like a NY hotel---a very unrecognizable historical gem! You can still attract a "new generation" of clientel and your repeat visitors without such drastic changes in the interior. The room rate for "our" room has nearly doubled in t... Read more

We booked the hotel months in advance. The hotel didn't tell us it was hosting their VIPs that weekend. Well we paid thousands of dollars and were treated like third class citizens. The music was so loud it was vibrating the beds. There were broken wine glasses on the walls and sidewalks as we walked to the pool. We had to wait over an hour for drinks poolside. The place was a disaster. The art work is fantastic but a hotel of this caliber should not have these sorts of issues.

We had reservation on Friday evening with a couple of friends. Food was over priced and did not taste good. My husband has the special, Linguine with mussels. When it arrived, it was in a bowl and the presentation is definitely not there. My husband said the pasta sauce tasted like from a can. For $34, that is a bust! I had the burger which tasted ok. Our friends had flank steak and he did not enjoy it. Service was good though. At least you can see that they tried.

Fairmont has a problem: they assume "traditional" and "classic" decor means no need to renovate. Their properties are typically well-located, expansive, and generally provide decent service. The Princess epitomizes Fairmont. The service is cordial and competent. The rooms are reasonably sized. The problem with Fairmont is their properties beg for renovation. This one was no exception (in fact, renovations were ongoing). The front desk staff was friendly -- four stars on that. The rooms likely ... Read more
