My wife and I have been coming to Captain Morgan's every year since 2005, and sometimes twice during the year. Service is excellent, and we absolutely love the staff here. They are very helpful, friendly, and make one feel so welcomed. They are like family to us. The resort is well maintained, and very beautiful! It is so nice to see a resort that is so appreciative of the locals, and welcomes them. The owners, Ernie and Karen are on site, and mingle with guests, which is uniques for typica... Read more

My friends Mike and Leza planned their wedding on the beach at Captain Morgan's Retreat in Late April. They connected their wedding guests with Kristie who booked our reservations and helped with the connecting flights and boat ride from San Pedro to the CMR. At CMR, Manager Johann treated the guests like royalty and made certain that the wait staff and kitchen moved smoothly for our regular meals. The staff are amazing....Maggie in the dining room with her great smile every morning while serving us coffee and breakfast, Oscar and Margurita at the pool bar were always so happy and eager to make sure our drinks were just right and never had to wait no matter how busy they were. We stayed 2 weeks in a 2BR condo and both our guests and us loved every minute! The northern part of the island is developing and offers excellent dining choices but the on site Buena Vista restaurant is great and certainly convenient. We love the fact they have bikes to explore the island and it is an easy kayak ride out to the reef for great snorkeling.

The resort was majestic, the staff and guests were pure, welcoming and enjoyable. The accommodations are first rate. Multiple pools and pool bars. Swim up and make sure you get a Mai Tai from Danny. It's not a "natural beach", but if you want some place to just chill, this is it!

Very beautiful place to send time. Staff is very courteous and helpful. Restaurant served excellent food but had a limited menu. Prices were on a level with other restaurants in the area. Location was far enough out of town to feel secluded but yet close enough to make a quick run into town either by golf cart or water taxi.

At Captain Morgan's there is a Concierge there that took alot of his time to help with any needs that my family had while we were there. The staff was amazing I have been going there for 8 years and it get's better and better every year. I must go on point to say that Matt went above and beyond his call of duty to help with my family needs and wants, so when you visit Captain Morgan's ask for Matt and tell him Derek sent you, P.S. oh and you will have fun:)

Wed PM, same unit went out again. We are sitting here suffering. There are no phones in the condos, so you make a trip to the office for each and everything. Matthew, the concierge did a great job. He went out of his way for us every time we needed anything. Chef Johan was responsible for the food and drinks and it was perfect. We loved this place and the people who work there are exceptional. We rented a golf cart at the resort and used it to travel all over the island. My new husband and I honeymooned at the Captain Morgan's Retreat. It was a very romantic and quiet resort. We had a beach front cabana with the ocean less than 15 feet from the steps. I would definitely recommend this resort. Things to note - if you're going to stay there for a week, rent a golf cart and do it fast. By the time we went to rent a golf cart, they were all gone. Upon arrival I was taken aback by the general unfriendliness of the staff. Overall the staff seemed very disgruntled. The resort in general needed some updating and TLC and besides needing to pay for all the extras (e.g. wifi and $45 for unreturned beach towels) it was a very unremarkable experience (including the food and the casino). I will not be back!

Steps from the beach, private and updated. The excursions were all planned for us and they easily accommodated us with a golf cart, transportation into town and bikes. Belize isn't for the tourist that needs to be catered on. Its a unique experience to see island life in central America naturally. Captain Morgan's Retreat isn't a stellar 5 star accommodation. I loved Captain Morgan's! The pools, staff, villas, everything were so lovely! My only issue was that it was a bit hard to get off the property once you were there. There's no place to really swim in the ocean (on the water but not an actual beach), and you need to rent a golf cart to go explore San Pedro which can get popular. Wasn't that much of a problem, but for someone who really likes independent exploring, I think I'd find it a bit limited if I went back.
