"Absolutely the best vacation we've ever had. Enough to do to have stuff to do; plenty of quiet for those do-nothing days. The staff was outstanding - extremely friendly and helpful. They booked us on some fantastic excursions with the best guides. The location was great - swimming and snorkeling right off their own pier, far enough out of town that there were very few non-guests on their quiet beach but easy road access to town - we preferred golf cart or cabbing into town but they also had free bikes available - or a nice hike along the beach to get to shops and restaurants. I really can't say enough about the staff there - by the end of the week, they felt like family! It was truly a wonderful time!

"Arriving in San Pedro, the van was waiting for us and we were taken to the Pelican Reef Villas and we were amazed that they had upgraded us and we got a gorgeous view. The staff was very knowledgeable and VERY friendly. They got to know us personally and took each of our need into consideration. the bartender, and the manager were great everyday. I would go back in a heartbeat!"

"My son and I just returned from a week trip to Pelican Reef Villas in San Pedro on Ambergris Caye, Belize. We were made comfortable immediately as we were welcomed by name! We just can't say enough about thestaff were as friendly, efficient and helpful as anywhere we have ever stayed. It is a very pretty, quiet and intimate hotel and the accomdations were modern with satellite TV, a Jacuzzi bath tub and a fully equiped kitchen. The free breakfast was a very full meal with lots of choices. We were picked up right at the resort dock for all watersports. We found the people through out San Pedro were extremely friendly and we felt very relaxed and safe exploring the area. The villas are a few miles from town but golf carts are available for rent and are used by tourists and locals alike. Plenty of good local restaurants in town as well as several sophisticated restaurants also. You can get from the airport to the caye by water taxi and there are taxi's waiting at the airport to take you. It was about 90 min trip. We chose to fly directly into Belize APO for our return. We would definitely stay there again."

"I arrived at Pelican Reef Aug. 1, 20122 and stayed four nights.
We were surprised to have a taxi waiting for us upon our arrival especially since I didn't disclose my travel arraignments.
The hotel is ablut 3 miles south of San Pedro.
Once we arrived at the condo We were greeted with a rum punch and ice cold towels.
The staff was wonderful and very helpful booking trips and recommending restaurants.
Breakfast and lunch was very good. Unfortunately, the hotel did not serve diner.
Dining options were not a problem though. They simply would have a restaurant deliver food or have Carlos, my taxi driver, pick what ever I wanted up and bring it to me.
The resort was very clean and well kept. Beds were comfortable.
Sand flies and mosquitoes were under control due to two propane operated traps.
Flies were a problem though. The staff informed me that this is being addressed with a new fly trapping device they just installed. The hotel even supplied sun screen, aloe, and bug spray.
The bar had happy hour each day with two for one drink specials.
I even thought snorkeling from their pier was wonderful. They have an imitation reef under it that attracts so many different fish. Even a rather latch moray eel.
The only other complaint is about Room 20. The air conditioner when going through a cycle would first sound like a loud toilet flushing followed by hurricane winds. It made the room very comfortable but would wake us up at night.
The hotel had a small staff of only a few but they managed to keep things flowing service was a little slow but very personal.
I would definitely return to this resort on my next trip.

"My wife and I recently returned from our four night stay in Ambergris Caye, Belize. It was one of the best vacations we've had so far. I wish we could have stayed longer. When we arrived the front desk concierge greeted us and provided us with all of the information we needed to know for our stay. We were then given complimentary rum punch before being taken to our villa. What we walked into was much better than what we saw in the pictures on the website. The villa has a kitchen, dining area, living room, two bathrooms and two bedrooms. The main bathroom has his and her sinks. A washer and dryer are also included. We took full advantage of this as it made it much easier to unpack freshly washed clothes when we returned home. The view of the beach and the ocean from our room and the living room was amazing.

Customer service is obviously a top priority. They can tell you which restaurants provide complimentary shuttles (only three), the best restaurants to go to for certain atmospheres, the most food for your dollars, etc. We ate at Wild Mangoes, Hidden Treasure, Robyn's and Waruguma's. In our opinion, Wild Mangoes had the best seafood and dessert. We enjoyed it so much at we ate there twice.

If you plan to do any activities, it is very easy to work with the Pelican as you can book all of your activities through them. All you need to do is let them know what you're interested in and it will be taken care of. Payment is handled upon check out.

If you plan on staying at Pelican, keep in mind that it is at the southern end of Ambergris Caye and about 2.5 miles from the town of San Pedro, where most of the restaurants are located. When you want to go into town, you will need to take a taxi, which will cost $40 Belizean or $20 U.S. round trip. Resort allso provides complimentary bicycles, or you can rent a golf cart. While traveling into town can be cumbersome at times, we preferred where we were located because it was very quiet and provided what we wanted in a vacation."

"Beautiful. Pelican reef was the perfect place for my wife and I to stay on our tenth anniversary. The hotel and grounds were exceptionally well maintained and the staff could not have been more personable and helpful during our stay. The short drive into town was really no issue. Not sure why everyone comments on it. I will say that this is not the place for 20 y/o travelers looking to party. Night life / party goers would be better suited at one of the hotels in town or in Cancun / Cabo. "

"This place was breathtaking! Absolutely gorgeous beach and facilities, friendly and helpful staff, all the amenities you could want. The units are individually owned condos, collectively run by the on-site management company. We stayed in #3 which was a second floor unit that overlooked the beach and pier. It was a 2-bedroom, 2-bath with full kitchen, granite countertops, tile floors, jacuzzi tub, washer/dryer in unit, AC, balcony, satellite TV, etc. Room service breakfast and lunch poolside bar make it convenient for ordering in or relaxing around the resort. They also have complimentary snorkel gear and kayaks you can borrow to go out on the water. The place was so beautiful that we decided to get married while we were there. The staff helped coordinate everything from paperwork and minister to flowers and cake to private romantic dinner and drinks. The ceremony and party were stress-free and gorgeous. A few things to note: The resort is about 2.5 miles South of town so anticipate renting a golf cart or paying $25 Belize ($12.50 US) for one-way trips into town. WIFI was a bit spotty and would cut in/out, but our friends at another resort said the same, so it may be an island-wide issue."

"Our reservation got lost in the ether temporarily so when we arrived our room was not quite confirmed. However, the staff & managers welcomed us with rum punch and friendliness and delicately asked us for any confirmation number we might have. In any event, the reservation was cleared up and we lucked out getting an oceanfront room instead of the garden view I reserved. My husband and two kids were with me and we were so comfortable and happy the entire time we were there. Rooms, pool, food, beach, excursions -they can do everything. We caught so many fish on our day trip that we had leftovers - the kitchen at Pelican Reef cooked them up blackened, fried & grilled with fries, salad, rice & beans. Delicious! "
