We really enjoyed our stay at the Midas Resort. You have that Belize rain forest experience while staying in comfort and just being a short walk away to town.We were upgraded to the King Deluxe room on arrival.A pleasant surprise. The breakfast was excellent.Hats off to all of the staff. Thanks to Keith at the bar. A special thanks to Jessie (bartender and pool tech). We learned a lot about Belize from Jessie and appreciated his kindness. He is an asset to the resort. The resort grounds are beautif... Read more

Everyone we met on our travels didn't have much to say about San Igacio and if I wasn't on a tour I would have avoided. We thankfully only stayed the 1 night. The Midas hotel looks like your typical motel with tacky decor and unclean rooms and bathrooms. My room was quite tiny with a bathroom that looked like it hadn't been scrubbed in months. There was an ants nest on the shower and the power continued to fail which meant the whole place was a sweat box. When the power was on the air conditio... Read more

Midas in the Cayo District, Belize is a resort located downtown so it's easy to find. The service is wonderful. Everyone is friendly and the rooms are clean and the price isn't bad. I always enjoy my stay here. I've been here so many times I've lost count. I love the pool that's situated across from the bar area. And it's completely safe because it's only 4ft deep I believe but beautiful. The bar area has televisions you can watch with cable so you choose any channel and games you can play. The ... Read more

The Midas resort offered very clean and comfortable accommodations. We enjoyed the veranda that was accessed from the room, the huge swimming pool and the pool side bar for cool refreshments. The front desk staff was very friendly and helpful. Breakfast in the restaurant was very good. Within walking distance to the center of town.

Great location and within walking distance to town. Pool is sometimes filled with locals if you are interested in that? otherwise empty at night, WiFi is spotty but good at the pool. Rooms are clean and staff are forever helpful. Area is safe and had no issues walking at night

Great location, just a few blocks from downtown, but it's like you are in the jungle. There's four choices of rooms. About 40 rooms in the hotel section. People we spoke with said they were good. There are bungalows, some dated but with AC. Again people said they were good but not updated. There are a few updated bungalows which looked quite nice. We were upgraded to one of the four Deluxe King rooms. WOW. As nice a room we've ever stayed in. Short of chandeliers it could not have been nicer. As... Read more

We stayed at Midas for three nights. We shared the spare room which a tad small for three but had a good AC unit. The shared bathroom was not an issue at all either. The bar was lively at night and drinks were not too expensive given the atmosphere. The pool area was also perfect to come back to after a day of tours. The tours offered by the hotel were more expensive than other tour operators in San Ignacio so be aware. Overall, a good stay but the green colour scheme wouldn't have been top on m... Read more

Quaint, away from the thrum of booming San Ignacio--okay, San Ignacio does not really thrum, but Midas is right on the edge of town so it is quiet and peaceful. Yet you can walk to town in minutes. The staff was super friendly. As mentioned in other reviews. We were upgraded for free upon arrival. That was great. The cabanas are simple and comfortable. The A/C works well, and you need it. Man, does it get hot there. The power went out one morning around 3:00am. Within twenty minutes ... Read more

Great location. We walked to the market and city center in only 15 minutes or less. Pool We absolutely loved the pool. Clean, modern, large enough to do some laps, and they even have a pool grotto. The perfect touch is the bar conveniently located five steps from the pool. This was perfect after a day of adventure to stay in the pool and relax. Bungalows Now, the rooms which are bungalows. It's so clean. AC is new and it worked perfectly. It got so cold that we actually used the blankets pro... Read more

It's the perfect distance from the city- walking distance to downtown and its quiet enough to be away from the noise. The pool area is nice (also- there is a secret cave that they don't tell you about - you swim under the waterfall - its really cool!) We stayed in a cabin which was so cute! the downside was that there was not a fridge. Staff was friendly, drinks were great. Highly recommend this place!

Economy room that i originally booked had a shared bathroom which my girlfriend wasn't down with. So we ended up upgrading to the deluxe room at a discount thanks tot he staff. The room was large and clean with a definite feel that you were in Belize. The bar/pool was great to hangout at. The restaurant had good food. Only downside is no internet away from the pool area

We stayed here for a few nights and were upgraded at no charge due to availability. Staff is super nice, attentive, and make you welcome. Pool is awesome to relax, good wifi throughout resort, and good mix of people there from families, couples, backpackers, all grtting along well. Highly recommend here if youre in san ignacio. And if its full, go to Marthas Guesthouse, they are equally as awesome hosts.

We checked in late and had to leave early, but our limited time there was great. The room had AC, TV (we'd been away from technology for awhile, so this was a welcome surprise), the bathroom was beautiful and had hot water (again, we'd been away for awhile). We slept great and the staff was incredibly friendly throughout the entire process. The pool looked great. After reading the reviews we were looking forward to staying at the Midas Resort but we were disappointed. The room was full of mosquitos, and when we told the front desk they give us bug spray and told us to spray the room ourselves. We ordered dinner from the restaurant in the hotel (room service) and the food was verily edible. Earlier we wondered why there were so many food deliveries in the hallway for other room from other restaurants, we got our answer. We were also walking at night from... Read more

We didn't stay at Midas, but the helpfulness and kindness of the woman working the front desk on 11 July, 2016. We were lost, hot, our car broke down, late and since very minimal streets are labeled in San Ignacio, we were struggling finding our resort. The front desk lady gave us directions, water, called a taxi to guide us to our resort and then called our resort the next morning to make sure we made it. That is outstanding customer service and even though we didn't stay at this resort, she ma... Read more

We stayed in San Ignacio to do daily excursions. After a day getting wet and dirty, Midas is a great place coming home to. Rooms with AC, decent showers and a good bed. Food at the restaurant isn't that good, you should go into town to places like Guava Limb and Crave.

After reading the reviews it seemed like a good place, but when we got there we were very disappointed. The cabanas were (very) small and basic, though with an AC. When we asked about the pictures of the cabanas on the site we were told that those are the deluxe ones. It didn't feel and look very clean to us. And there were Mosquitos in the room. The bar was closed for the entire first day when we got there. They are doing maintenance work and building things so it looks like they are working on... Read more

My partner and I loved this stay. We enjoyed everything about San Ignacio. After our long bus ride from Orange Walk, we made it to San Ignacio. Once we got off the bus we didn't know where Midas was located so we asked a taxi to take us. We felt a bit foolish after driving only a two minute taxi ride to Midas. But hey at least we didn't have to walk with our heavy backpacks. We arrived really early in the morning, and our room wasn't ready yet, so we went to go have breakfast, which they provide... Belize is not cheap .. we knew that, and because San Ignacio was just a stopover for us we did not want to spend to much on a hotel there. Because of the good recomondations we choose Midas. We only wanted 3 things. Clean, AC and bathroom. When we arrived we found out that the economy room has only a shared bathroom. We were quite shocked but the person at the reception only told us that we would be the first person who was not aware of that and that to every other guest it was clear at the book... Read more

I was a bit skeptical before arriving, solely because it was so cheap, but as soon as we checked in we were told that we had been upgraded to room 19, which is one of the four rooms in the long green building that I believe are some of the nicer rooms. The room was great! Very clean and the bathroom was very well decorated. The setting of Midas is wonderful, all the bungalows are so cute and you can overlook the town of San Ignacio. We stayed here for 4 nights at the start of our vacation. We stayed in a cabana (like a little hut) and it was great. The AC ran well and kept it cold. The show didn't have much pressure, but not a big issue. We walked pretty much everywhere in the city which was much easier than dealing with parking. We spent our last day at the pool and having he bar there was nice to grab a drink on the way back to the room at night. The breakfast was good, we ended up eating there twice and both times it wa... Beautiful new bathrooms, private balconies, clean, fridge, ceiling fan, oscillating fan and good a/c in each room, delicious Belizean breakfast in nice back deck setting (fry jacks and waffles were awesome!) and fun large pool with "cave"! We enjoyed our stay at the Midas as it was clean and comfortable. It is not located in the city center (which would normally be a bummer for us) but rather a ten minute walk away which worked well for us. We stayed in cabin 3, which was a round hut that was divided into two. We had our own bathroom and the AC worked great, but the only iffy part was that there is a door between the two sides where you can potentially hear the other guests. The Midas is one of the few affordable hotels that is walking distance to town, with a nice pool. They even have an outdoor bar at the pool. The hotel is a very nice budget hotel. They have all kinds of different types of rooms, all very nice. It is not upscale, but had everything we need. We ate at the outside restaurant every morning for breakfast. The food was good, fresh and priced right.

This place wasn't anything special, but for what we paid it's about right. We paid $35/night (American dollars) including fees for their "standard room" which was basically a small room with a shared bathroom across the hall. I maybe would've paid $50/night for this, but it wasn't worth any more. The last couple of nights we ended up getting upgraded to a deluxe suite, which normally would've been $140/night with fees. Midas is Ideally located down town San Ignacio Town and safely secluded couple minutes walking distance from the bustling Twin Town. Their rooms are very clean, comfortable and budget-minded. The highlight of this hotel is the swimming pool which is quite large and has a hidden cave under the waterfall, which gave hours of fun for some of our group. There is also a bar overlooking the pool which serves, cocktails and other drinks. Rooms are a good size with TV, air-con and decent shower. Breakfast was adequate. Local market short walk away. Lots of restaurants in the area.

Within a safe max 10 minutes lighted walk from energized town you are in a private feeling inland resort. We stayed in a cabana that was very clean; very comfortable king size bed. A large pool bar area made it feel shore like. The staff generously gave any missing item was asked for.
