We stayed for three days and absolutely LOVED the staff and Bart! They arranged our shuttle for our day trip to Tikal(highly recommend!) it was seamless and amazing! The food was to die for and everyone was so sweet! I wish we could have stayed longer! The rainforest was gorgeous! Stay here if you can!

We initially booked Maya Mountain Lodge for our first two nights in San Ignacio, intending to move on, but ended up staying 4 nights, we enjoyed it so much. Our cabana was super clean, quiet and comfy: Great A/C and hot water. The meals, while a bit on the pricey side were delicious, made with all natural, non-GMO ingredients, and ingredients from right there on the property. When you took into account a cab ride into town and back for dinner, the prices were right on par. But what really m... Read more

My only regret is not staying here longer. We were treated at the entrance by Elmer with a refreshing drink. The room was ready and fresh flowers greeted us throughout the room. Was wonderful! The staff was excellent as well as the owner, they all made us feel like we had been friends forever. Elmer was not only helpful from the day we booked out stay, but right up until we checked out Miss Julian, think I have her name right, was there every morning with her bright smiling face. Landy, was s... Read more

We stayed here for 2 nights. I agree with the other people's comments regarding the staff- they were really lovely and helpful. We stayed in a room in the main building. It was clean, but small i.e. not enough space to open 2 suitcases. There were towels provided for the pool and actvities. Shampoo and shower gel were provided in plastic bottles rather than refillable containers, which I found strange for somewhere claiming to be considerate of the environment. Unfortunately I did not sleep we... Read more

We spent our honeymoon in the jungle at Maya Mountain Lodge after our small destination wedding on Ambergris Caye, and we felt that the lodge was a gem. The grounds were very beautiful and all the plants were labeled so that you learned what they were, and there was a well maintained trail around the property for hiking and birding. We did yoga on the pool deck every morning, and we enjoyed our Agouti cottage up on the hill. It was a quite and relaxing location. The staff was very friendly and a... Read more

For the price-point, Maya Mountain Lodge is a great stay with a convenient location just outside the bustling San Ignacio downtown. Each lodge is separated from each other, providing a nice degree of seclusion and privacy. The amenities are a bit rustic and weathered, but keep in mind you're in the jungle. If anything, this added to the charm of Maya Mountain Lodge. The owner is very informational and a ubiquitous fixture in the dining area. Proud of his lodge and the local environment, he was ... There is a lot to love about Maya Mountain Lodge! The grounds are very beautiful and well maintained, not to mention informational! The trees and plants are labeled so that you know what they are, and that made it interesting and fun with our 9 year old son. Wild flowers, fruits, birds, insects, and other wildlife abound here, and it's all good as long as they don't come in to your room! I highly recommend the zinc roof rooms that are much more bug proof than the thatched huts. We stayed in... Read more

Our family vacation to Belize was our children's first trip outside the US. This certainly caused some apprehension. The amazing staff at Maya Mountain Lodge made them feel right at home the whole time! The resort itself admittedly could be updated. Loose trim, a fair amount of wear, decking around the pool that needs to be replaced, etc. All things easily over looked because of the employees at the resort. Their warm and friendly attitudes resonated and made everyone feel at home. Mea... Read more

Duration: 5 nights over Thanksgiving. Single traveler Overall: Wow, what a serene and peaceful property. It was beautifully maintained by the grounds crew. Just know that you are just off the town as a lodge, and not meant to be a resort. The large acreage property is undeveloped which makes the ambiance that much better. This is as close to "domesticated jungle life" as you can get. lol. Check in: Super quick. Everything was ready for me upon my arrival, and after a few minutes, I ... Read more
