Very good hotel! Staff is welcoming and always make sure you are satisfied with everything! They're very thoughtful! Very clean and the food is great! It's only a 5min taxi ride from the center of San Ignacio (5$ US) and worth it since its very peaceful here

Looking for manicured grounds, state of the art facilities, HBO and a fancy vacation? Don't come here. Looking for a great place to lodge while you explore all the Cayo province of Belize has, this is the place. The staff is friendly as are the guests. It is infectious or this type of lodging brings friendly, unpretentious people. Elmer was wonderful. I never had anyplace ask me to fill out a form with my dietary preferences. Do I want healthy, fried, ect. The room had all I needed. A kitchenett... Read more

I cannot describe how great our visit was. The staff was helpful and friendly. The food was incredible. The lodging was clean. I was not expecting such a great place to stay in the middle of the jungle. Everything was very professional. By the time we left, I felt that I was leaving family.

Thoroughly enjoyed our week-long stay at the Maya Mountain Lodge. The staff was so friendly and we felt safe, comfortable and among friends. It was centrally located for many of the Mayan sites and each evening we came "home" to the most awesome dinners! I highly recommend and look forward to another visit.

My sister and I have the pleasure to travel to Belize in May. We decided to sign up for the All Inclusive Jungle and Beach 6 day package because we both were too busy to plan all the details for our trip. It was such a great experience! Everything was prearranged-- all of our pickups, activities, and food. Mayan Mountain Lodge is gorgeous, the food is delicious, and the staff was so friendly. The rooms our nice, but very simple. Great location and really overall just such a great trip!

We were give the toucan room where the air conditioner did not cool the room properly 84 degrees. The checked the unit several times and it did not improve the situation. They recommended we wait for it to cool the room but after may hours no change. They said they would make another room available but when we tried to change there wasn't a room available. We tried finding another hotel to stay at but no rooms available. Lots of excuses but no solution until our last night when we moved into a r... Read more

Actually nicer than expected ! Very friendly staff, lovely thatched Mayan cottages up winding paths through tropical flora. Pool ( we didn't even use because we went to Rio On) . Arrived on Sunday and they had garifuna night with a sibling group of dancers , musician and singers - owner very keen on us getting to know the culture. Very close to San Ignacio and on road to mountain pine ridge so perfect for us. Would stay again.

I was blown away by the tranquil beauty of this resort. It sits off the highway, and is surrounded by lush greenery. In addition, the service is excellent, and the food very good. The lodge is also located within walking distance to the town of San Ignacio. I would highly recommend this resort to anyone visiting Belize.

We spent a two-night stay at MAYA MOUNTAIN LODGE San Ignacio. After being shown the lodge,we thought we had found a nature-friendly lodge. How horrified we were to find out ,at the bottom of the lodge and at the forest border a chained and starving dog with no clean drinking water but with a dirty dog house that was living amidst its dog dirt ( photos enclosed). We spoke to the hotel staff who told us the dog was the owner's and was to be kept on its chain 24 hours a day.We heard the dog bark at n... Maya Mountain Lodge is the friendliest Lodge I have stayed at (I have visited many lodges in Africa and India) Every member of staff is smiling, polite, willing and extremely well-informed. If they are uncertain of the answer to your question, they will go and find out and return swiftly with the information you are wanting. All speak excellent English, with Spanish Creole and for many another dialect tongue also. We booked all our full day and half day excursions through the Lodge, for conveni... Read more

Situated just outside of town, you wouldn't want to stay here unless you had your own car. The rooms are located on a beautifully lush property with signs indicated different types of foliage (nice touch). The staff was very helpful in printing me documentation to get into Guatemala. Our room was the most basic we could have booked, it didn't have bells and whistles, but was very comfortable and clean.

My family of five stayed at the Maya Mountain Lodge for 3 nights as a base for our trips in the San Ignacio region. The staff at the lodge were incredibly friendly. My daughter told me the outdoor dining area "looks like Disney, but it's real". Very good breakfasts with delicious fresh juices, fruits and incredible mango jam that we ended up buying and bringing home. Dinner seemed a bit pricey compared to what you find in town. We stayed here for two nights following our travels through Belize and Guatamala. Maya Mountain Lodge is located in a jungle setting but is a couple of miles from downtown San Ignacio (a US$5 cab ride). It is pleasant and scenic and very eco-friendly, with cabins and buildings scattered throughout the property. We stayed in a building that housed seven rooms but there were also other separate cabins. Our room had A/C, hot water and was very clean. There was filtered water available as well a... Read more

We started our visit to Belize at this wonderful lodge. The setting is beautiful and soothing. Accommodations were perfect for us. This is not staying at a posh city hotel so if that is the style you seek this might not be for you but if you wish to be immersed in the environment then you just scored. Staff is wonderful and extremely helpful in every way. The food coming out of the kitchen was amazing. We typically don't eat in the same place repeatedly while traveling but we made an excep... Although, we initially had issues with our first room, the hotel was very accommodating and was able to make a switch. The property itself was gorgeous and it was not uncommon to see hummingbirds and other wildlife right outside our room. We ended up staying in two different cabins and they were both really nice. The roof is made out of palm leaves intertwined in a way to that is waterproof. It's a marvel really! If you tour the San Ignacio Botanical Gardens you will learn how the ancient Mayans... Read more

I can't speak highly enough about this place. We initially booked 5 nights but arrived 2 days early due to Hurricane Earl heading for the Cayes. Our first room was Motmot, a small cottage with a thatched roof. We loved this room, it was comfortable and felt like a real experience sleeping under the thatched roof in a jungle setting. Our second room was up in the lodge. It's not quite as nice as the cottages but it's still really nice and the shared balcony area is brilliant with beautiful views.... Read more

We stayed a week at Maya Mountain in early August 2016 with our three grown daughters. Our room was not luxurious but it was clean. We had a small kitchenette that we used everyday. We didn't eat at the restaurant because the prices were too high for all of us to eat there (X5) but there is a relaxing sitting area for all guests with free coffee. We used the pool a lot and relaxed in the hammocks. We met the owner Bart, who was around a lot. He's very proud of Maya Mountain and he took us ... Read more

From the staff, to the location of this place, and the serenity it provides you laying in a hammock taking in the beautiful nature that surrounds you. I must give this lodge a 5 star. The pictures are spot on except they miss the surrounding plant life, the lodge has private botanical garden and makes you feel like you are in the middle of the rain forest. We stayed at Maya Mountain Lodge in mid August 2016 for 3 nights. The staff is exceptionally friendly and the rooms are affordable, clean, and comfortable. It is a short 20-25 minute walk to the heart of San Ignacio, which can easily be done with a taxi as well (4-5 USD). The Lodge provides a lovely respite from the hustle and bustle of the main village. We highly recommend it!

I stayed at Maya with my boyfriend for 3 days and it was absolutely wonderful. I wish we could have stayed longer! The grounds were quiet and, being low season in Belize during September, the hotel was far from full. Despite this, there was always a chef on staff for breakfast and dinner, with great coffee any time of day and from-scratch snacks laid out at happy hour. There is no alcohol sold on premises but we were encouraged to make use of the 24/7 fridge to stock our own from San Ignacio. To... Read more

Our visit to Maya Mountain Lodge in October of 2016 was great. The cottages were adorable with great water pressure and hammocks. When you arrive at Maya Mountain Lodge, you are immediately swept into a lush, stunning, and serene setting. The staff is extremely friendly and helpful, as if you've been friends for years. Our room was lovely and spacious, which included a queen size and twin bed donned with colorful Mayan blankets. Duration: 5 nights over Thanksgiving. Single traveler Overall: Wow, what a serene and peaceful property. It was beautifully maintained by the grounds crew. Just know that you are just off the town as a lodge, and not meant to be a resort. The large acreage property is undeveloped which makes the ambiance that much better. Our family vacation to Belize was our children's first trip outside the US. This certainly caused some apprehension. The amazing staff at Maya Mountain Lodge made them feel right at home the whole time! The resort itself admittedly could be updated. Loose trim, a fair amount of wear, decking around the pool that needs to be replaced, etc. All things easily over looked because of the employees at the resort. Their warm and friendly attitudes resonated and made everyone feel at home. Mea... Read more
