Location

Its region gives the name away quite decisively. The portrait inscribed from mountains and standing stately against the sky can make you conclude that giants do exist. Sure it`s made of a alignment of large trees and thick forest inching up on imposing mountains, but when nature schemes into a recognizable forehead, nose, lips, chin, neck and even chest, it is easy to accept that it is in fact, a dormant and oblivious `Hercules`. With a magnificent sight and cresting at a distance, prepared to take in those heart-stopping views is Sleeping Giant Rainforest Lodge.

We were so impressed with this facility. Traveling from the airport down to the Sleeping Giant Lodge, we saw the beauty of the country as we got out of the city and started getting toward the Hummingbird Highway (which is breathtaking). As we turned off the highway to go to the resort (and it is a very nice resort), we were impressed with how warm and welcoming the team working there was. From Eugene's first greeting, to Gareth's excellent service, and even the little things that housekeeping... Read more

I looked at a lot of reviews of Sleeping Giant and couldn't quite believe that they were for real. Turns out, they were. There is not much to say except that the accommodations, the people, the food, everything - were amazing. Don't miss out on the guided tours to the ruins and river tubing, Abel was an fabulous guide with a wealth of knowledge of the area.

I cannot begin this review without sharing how beautiful this resort is. While the resort has been open since the 80s in some form or another I never felt that it was out of date. Our room was just recently built and unbelievably beautiful. Great detail and amenities located on the side of a mountain to give some of the most beautiful panoramic vistas. The over the top portion of our trip was the service. The team at Sleeping Giant greeted us warmly and by name every time we saw them. They... Read more

This place is a bit "out of the way" but the rooms are gorgeous, the tours are sufficient, the staff are super friendly, and the food is fantastic. The bartenders are AMAZING, the pool is AMAZING... Was a great getaway for us girls.

We stayed in Casita 5, and felt like we had the best location of the Casitas. It was relatively close to the pool and had a small creek immediately in front of the balcony which added to the ambiance. We did the morning bird watching with Abel and he is an expert in his field. We saw many species including the keeled bill and aracari toucan. We heard the emerald toucan, and what we think was a macaw but weren't able to see them. The location is beautiful, the staff are exceptional and the at... Read more
