We love to see locally owned businesses prosper and Rumors Resort has come a long way since it first opened. We have been visiting for years and have found it to be an enjoyable getaway spot when we travel west. The Montero family is always very welcoming. The new pool addition is has taken this establishment to new heights. It is just what was needed especially during the hot summer days. Our last trip was on mothers day weekend in May. I decided to take my wife for a little escapade from the ... Read more

We stayed in Rumors for three nights and did not regret. The hotel is loctaced out of town, which offers you calmness. The hotel staff are welcoming, friendly and helpful. We particularly liked information about available activities in the areas and the organization of tours. This was really excellent.

Let me start by saying that everyone working at Rumors was amazing. We stayed here for 3 nights and explored the area on tours organized with help from Rosy. Definitely recommend going on tours from Go Maya too. We did ATM, cave tubing and zip lining, and horseback tour of ruins. They also arranged our transportation to and from belize city, which was nice. Mercedes makes the best margs!

This is a wonderful hotel. They delivered on everything promised and went above and beyond to make us feel comfortable. It was a perfect location for us to participate in all the activities we wanted - ATM, xunantunich, cave tubing, and more. My only tip would be to maybe bring a white noise generator or ear plugs if you're a light sleeper and want to sleep in as the birds like to start singing early and loudly! I'm sure this wouldn't wake most people up and many would probably actually find it ... Read more

My Boyfriend and I visited Belize this May and we stayed in Rumors for 5 days with great service, fun excursions, and awesome food and drinks! Rosy planned our excursions,to zip line and cave tubing which was great. Our guide O'neal was AWESOME super fun, and knowledgeable, he allowed us to explore, and did not rush us which was comforting. The hotel staff are very welcoming and helpful, we would definitely stay here again.

Our family of 5 stayed at Rumors in early June and had a wonderful stay. The room was a bit crowded, however it is difficult to find a place that can accommodate 5 almost-grown people so we can't really complain. Besides, we were so busy that we were hardly ever in the room. The air conditioner had a hard time keeping our room cool, but that was a minor inconvenience. We booked our tours and airport transport through Go-Maya with Onil as our guide. He was WONDERFUL! We had him all to ourselves, ... Read more

Elite, clean and great service. Friendly staff. Gorgeous view and awesome pool! Love the bridge that takes you to the pool. Located right beside the main road. Loved my stay while it lasted. My family was impressed by the resort. Awesome place must recommend.

The hotel was wonderful, very accommodating even for 2 travelers that hadn't planned anything in advance. We called them the day of our arrival and they were able to arrange pick up from the airport in Belize City. We arrived with few details on what tours we wanted to do and they were able to give us information and book then and there. The hotel is family owned, so there is that vibe when staying there. They had fresh aqua de sandia every day for us, our favorite and a magical view of Belize. ... Read more

We loved rumors! We were a couple looking for a clean and comfortable stay while we went on a few excursions. The staff was amazing (Shout out to Edwin and Cassandra!!) and very accommodating. The rooms were clean and operational and perfect for the price. The hotel is centrally located to tours and close to town which has really great restaurants. The tours guides were all excellent. We highly recommend ATM Caves and Tikal. This is a great hotel to stay if looking in San Ignacio.

We were torn between several resorts, and we were so glad that we picked this resort. We stayed six nights from 06-27 to 07-03. Had drinks waiting for us when we arrived. Rosy and Roxanna were very helpful with anything we needed. Arranged plane tickets for us when we left, and any time I had a question, they were always willing to help. We saw many of the other resorts as we traveled around, and realized this was the best choice we could have made (close to town, good road). Short trip by ... Read more

Rumors Resort just outside San Ignacio is a wonderful place to stay! The room was spacious and clean and the hotel staff was friendly and very accommodating. The hotel offers a large and spotlessly clean swimming pool, Wi-Fi, excellent cuisine, patios, and an onsite touring company that can meet all of your local travel needs. We stayed 12 nights and I wish we could have extended our time there!

We normally go directly to Ambergris Caye when we visit Belize, but decided to stay on the mainland & check out local sites for our first 3 days. Rumors was close to town & excursions like Xunantunich. Room was clean. The first night our shower leaked all night and had zero water pressure. Thankfully we had family members in another room so we were able to use their shower. After putting in two requests, someone came & fixed the shower. The next day the resort ran out of water. By the end of the... Read more

We booked this hotel thinking we were getting a 4/5 star hotel but it certainly wasn't that! The room we had was old and run down, the bathroom smelled and was really old. The linen especially the towels had holes in them and were frayed around the sides. Stay were more interested in talking to each other than attending to guests. The dining area was dark and hot and certainly wasn't inviting to eat there. We did have breakfast one day and it was extremely small and overpriced for what you got. ... Read more

This was our first visit to Belize, and we spent six nights at Rumors Resort to start off the trip. We had booked four different tours with the onsite tour operator, GoMaya (there's a discount if you book direct with Rumors, and if you're staying there you also get your tours discounted!) - Jaguar Paw cave tubing and ziplining, Xunantunich and Big Rock Falls, Crystal Cave, and Caracol and Rio on Pools. The room was very spacious - two double beds - and had great AC that kept us cool all through... Read more

We choose this hotel because it looked like a quite place to stay and enjoy the view of the valley, it turned out to be more of a hotel for families with kids. It was not so quite in my experience as kids run around all day, we wanted to go to the pool with my wife but is was packed with screams and jumps and splashes. This would be the perfect place to take your kids to spend some time at the pool, but not if you want peace and privacy. The restaurant looks like it was from the 70´s and is sho... Read more

Today my friend and I spent the day driving and visiting several resorts in the area for a future place to stay. She chose Rumors for several reasons: Clean, modern, owner onsite and easily accessible, wonderful panoramic view of the jungle, fantastic pool, all the staff was very friendly and efficient, delicious food and drinks. Just an all around perfect place to stay. Oh, prices are good too :)

Words can't describe how amazing this place is, from management to the cleaning staff everyone is wonderful. The food is great the drinks are great and there rooms are great. They really take good care of you and accommodate you very well. The tour guides they use from there sister company Go Maya are phenomenal, they give you great information and are very knowledgeable especially "Onil". Our one-night stay at Rumors Resort was wonderful: the room was conveniently located with all amenities, the food and drinks in the restaurant were great, but the best aspect of the Resort was the kind and friendly staff. Each staff member wanted to make sure everything was as we wished. The facility is impeccably maintained with many lovely areas for R&R. We highly recommend it.

While I chose this hotel for practical reasons, I'm glad we did for more than that. The people at Rumors were very warm, honest and look out for you. The pace is slow which may annoy some people but I can't think of a more stress-free environment. The food is good, the drinks are yummy. Try the chili lime rimmed margarita but avoid the eggs over-easy (stove is too hot to do it right). Rosy and the front desk staff will take good care of you. They also arranged several of our tours through Go-May... Read more

Rumors is a very awesome place to cater for all occasions. The poolside is great for your youngsters, for there's an area for them and parents can still enjoy themselves while the kids swim and play, the friendly staff, clean environment and good food and drinks. You can enjoy the simplicity of nature.

I highly recommend this hotel. It is about four miles away from center of town. But your taxi will take you there in no time (aprox. 8 minutes). When writing this review (Oct 2016), the taxi rate to the hotel was $10 Belizian. The hotel property and surrounding area are beautiful. You feel like you are close to nature. The rooms are spacious, including the shower areas. The pool is the jewel of the property. It is an infinity pool and the view of the canopy trees is spectacular. The restaurant o... Read more

The true is that you only come to San Ignacio if you're going to visit the ATM cave or one of the close by archeological sites. The town itself has nothing to offer (still we strolled by). So we booked at Rumors, which is actually outside town on the highway (a $10 taxi ride). The hotel started as a restaurant and it has been growing up, it has about 10 rooms an an infinity pool overlooking the jungle! The rooms are nothing spectacular, but they are clean and air conditioned; but they do make... Read more

This small hotel is full of smiles, helpful staff and people always asking if you need anything. The owner of Rumors knows how to pick and train his staff. As other reviewers have said, the view is great. Close to many exploration sites. On my next visit I must take one of their tours to Tical in Guatemala. The rooms are basic, but you do not go to hang in your room. The rooms are clean, comfortable and all you need. I was here on business, but got to enjoy Rumors pool on Saturday .As I said, I ... We had a very good experience at this family run hotel. The staff was extremely competent and helpful. They helped us organize a few excursions, allowed us to wash clothes for free using their machines, and were overall super accommodating. The hotel's outside grounds are nice, with beautiful jungle view (especially on the upper deck), and there is a swimming pool (it does get super busy though, too much for my taste). We had a great stay at Rumors right before thanksgiving. Any issues (minor) were taken care of immediately. The people were great. We enjoyed their patience with us as we asked a lot of questions about the area and their culture. We especially enjoyed Josh and Edwin. The setting was perfect for us-it's a bit out of town and we were thankful to have the freedom that comes with a rental car to run around on our own. My daughter's family and I had the pleasure of staying at Rumors. She and her family had stayed there before. Staff recognized them and treated us like family. The family room we stayed in was large enough for the 5 of us to stay comfortably. Staff supplied anything we asked for and the hotel dog, I think his name was Austin, greeted us as we came and went. I would definitely stay here again. Quiet, clean and comfortable.

This place is a bit out of the way. $5 us to town and $5-10 us cab ride back (too far to walk and the route isn't pedestrian friendly). It is a simple hotel, no frills but the room feels clean. The furniture in the online pictures is nicer than what is actually there, though what is there works just fine. Perhaps if it didn't rain the whole time we would have been able to enjoy he pool and greenery. The servers in the restaurant are very nice and the food is's nice to have an option on ... Read more
