Stayed here for two night in room 74. Splendid room, tall ceilings and a lovely Juliette balcony over looking a small square and restaurant. 50 meters from the main river square which has pavement cafes and bars all around it. Highly recommended.

Fantastic location right in front of the castle. Some of the rooms have renovated bathrooms tht were fantastic and the rooms were clean. Great value for money. Only downside was that after the first night I came back in once the room was cleaned and the spoons for the coffees had just been wiped down and now actually cleaned and were still dirty, so it made me wonder if they were changed after each guest. But other than that it was fantastic value for money and I would visit again. I would advis... Read more

Had a lovely stay here- incredibly friendly staff and very central- walking distance to everything. Yes it could be made more luxurious given the standards people expect nowadays but really couldn't fault it. Breakfast was lovely too and plenty if it!

We were given room 44 - the door opened onto a flight of stairs up to our room which was a good size, with plenty of storage, a separate bathroom & toilet, but only skylight windows. However there was another flight of stairs which led up to a garret room, simply furnished with a sofa and the most amazing 360 deg views over Ghent and Castle Gravensteen. This room would not be suitable for anyone with mobility problems, but we loved it. The guys in reception were both friendly and helpful, and w... Read more

We stayed on the top floor at the front corner of the hotel. Huge room with 2 large windows that opened up with large sills to sit on and enjoy an amazing view of the castle and street below us. Good bath and separate shower. Large comfy bed. Good Wifi and climate control. Quiet at night. Good location to explore the town and to find nearby restaurants.

The hotel is very centrally located opposite the Gravensteen. All rooms are different in size and decor, and some are in the annex. Hotel staff are very friendly. Breakfast room is cozy and choice of breakfast is good. Not all rooms are accessible by lift, so if you have trouble walking, avoid certain rooms with stairs.

We stayed here for one night. The location of this hotel is perfect; it is in the middle of the city center. The hotel itself is quiet old fashioned. Everything is in the room, but they are quite small. Breakfast is also not that special. They were even late when we arrived there. They serve breakfast from 6.30 but at 6.30 the breakfast wasn't completely ready. The bar doesn't serve any snacks, so if you want to grab something small it is better to go to the city center. The location is excellent for tourists. It is basically next to the Gravensteen Castle (also called Castle of the Counts - since that is what it means in Dutch). The staff were very friendly and very helpful. The breakfast was great and worth the price (if it's not included in your room; ours was since we rented an upgraded room). I would highly recommend this hotel.

The location of the hotel was perfect for exploring Ghent. Everything is in easy reach. Even getting to the station was easy on the tram which stops a short distance from the hotel. We got there late and were concerned when we were told we were too late to park in the hotel. However, we were directed by hotel staff to the local underground parking which was nearby and felt clean and safe. The bed was very comfortable and the shower was good. We enjoyed the buffet breakfast. The staff were... Read more

A good hotel, stayed in room 55. This room was on the 3rd floor (the main building). The building is old, with marble floors. By a narrow lesnitse not very convenient to carry the suitcase, the benefit to me was a man - right =) small but cozy rooms. The windows looked out on the street, if you open the window, in the early morning you will wake walking tourists. Breakfast is delicious, but not varied. There is a gym (for watching your figure). The best thing about the Hotel Gravensteen is the location, surrounded by the most interesting features of Ghent. The hotel is located along the main canal, right near where you board the canal cruise boats. The Tourist Information office is just next door, the majestic Castle of the Counts is right across the street and many other places such as St.Michael's Bridge and the Korenmarkt are a short walk away. The hotel welcomes you with an impressive, classical entrance. The staff were very frien... Read more

Really lovely hotel right in the centre of fantastic Gent. Nice size room, really friendly staff, small garden area for drinking. Only one downfall rooms 51-53 are down some very steep stairs, so if your unsteady on your feet, don't have these rooms. Our friends were in one of these rooms and the staff were more than helpful and moved the to another more suitable room. Gent is gorgeous place to visit and this hotel is ideal for your stay.

Hotel Gravesteen is perfectly located in the heart of the historical district, with a 2 min walk to the best restaurants, terraces, tourist attractions and bars. But they don't stop there, the rooms are amazing and the staff is ever so attentat and friendly. Not a single complaint at all, will live here againnext time an adventure in Gent is coming up!

Nice hotel with a good location across from the castle and close to the tram stop. Our room had been recently renovated and the bathroom had a very contemporary look with a great shower. There isn't air-conditioning, but the windows opened and we slept comfortably. This is an older hotel, so expect to have a few steps after you exit the elevator. My only criticism would be that the electrical outlets are all under the furniture so you have to get on your hands and knees and crawl under the de... Read more

Hotel Gravenstens feel right, is located right and should be right. But the details is missing. Our spacious room on the third floor was big enough for two extra beds for the kids and the staff was friendly. But the rooms did not feel clean enough, doors and corners could need a fresh brush of paint and the breakfast seems a bit cheap. Carpets seems dirty and worn out. The first thing that struck me about this hotel is their reception staff. Although they may are young, they know their craft very well. They are very professional, yet not aloof. I wish to commend one of the male reception staff. Our room is located in the first level, and if one were to knock at the room, it can be heard at the reception. Thinking my husband was inside the room, I had knocked repeatedly until the reception staff came running up the stairs, opened our bedroom door for me. My hus... Read more

We have been visiting family and friends in Gent for about 30 years and have walked passed the Hotel Gravensteen on numerous occasions. It always looked so inviting and in the words of my Belgian sister in law - "Chic". So when we had the chance to stay there recently we took the plunge. We usually stay in Ibis or Novotel hotels, (you know what to expect), but this time the Gravensteen was not much more expensive per night and included breakfast. We stayed 3 nights at Gravensteen and we were very pleased with our stay. Our room, at the annex building was modern, with a large bathroom and views of the city. The breakfast was very good. The very polite young lady at the reception is a plus to this hotel, she gives information, books taxis, always with a smile. Highly recommendable

Your first impression of this hotel is likely to be 'wow'! The hotel lobby and reception area is really lovely and you get a real sense of how grand this place used to be. Unfortunately this impression fades quickly as you proceed upstairs as the place is in serious need of modernisation. The paint is peeling, the carpets are stained and everything looks dated. However, it's still a great place to stay if you're in Ghent. We had a family room and the beds are comfortable, the room is spacious, ... Read more

Lovely old hotel, but with modern facilities and friendly staff right in the very center of Ghent. Its location is great, rooms are not big but ok, but quirkiness and location make up for lack of space. The staff are very good and the surrounding bars and restaurants are good, its a beer lovers dream?

Stayed at the Gravensteen for one night in early September and had a lovely stay. The hotel is a short walk from the tram station and very central for the main sights - especially the castle! The lobby is very impressive and although our room, on the second floor, didn't have much of a view (a fire escape and not much else) it was clean and well decorated. This was our second visit to Ghent, and this time we chose to stay "central" as opposed to edge of town. Hotel could not be more perfectly located being just a couple of minutes' walk from the Graslei/Korenlei area in one direction and Castle of the Counts in the other.. I stayed here for 2 nights. The hotel is in a good location in the city centre ... that is, if you are on foot or travel by public transport. I took the risk and tried reaching the hotel by car ... never ever again. This is not the hotels fault, rather the consequence of the city policy to make the centre of Ghent car-free. This is nice to a certainly extent, but everything has its limits. On top of that, there are a huge amount of road works right now which makes reaching the hotel by car even ... Read more
