I stayed here with the family last weekend. We were in Belgium for sport and stayed here for two nights. It's situated just off the main road on the way to Antwerp and a short distance outside the city centre and a five minute walk from the Expo. We had a family room. The room consisted of four beds for the three of us, two singles and a double. The room was very tidy and the only snag was that the tea and coffee facilities had powdered milk so we had to swipe a couple of milk cartons from ... Read more

The biggest gripe is this is one of those hotels you can see from the main road but actually getting to it was a nightmare - even with sat-nav, not helped by nearby building works. The hotel is out of town but there is a tram stop nearby - albeit the other side of a building site. We had an outward facing room which was clean and spacious and the bedding was comfortable and the room quiet. We didn't eat at the hotel so cannot comment on the food. All in all OK for an overnight stopover, not ... Read more

hotel is dirty, old and noisy. the highway is few tens of meters apart and road traffic noise is clearly audible. the whole area is under construction and this makes access to the hotel quite complicated (poor road signaling). the restaurant looks great, but we only made use of it for breakfast, which was ok. bottom line: it doesn't deserve the fourth star, three would have been adequate

Convenient to the city center (15 minutes) via tram not far from the hotel. Very riendly helpful staff. Good restaurant with an accomodating host who is happy to honor requests. Nice bar. Had room for my husband, me and adult son-- which is not easy to find. Clean and quiet. We arrived by train. Station is not far from hotel. Hotel can sell you 10 ride pass on tram that can be shared. Perfect for our family of 3 for a two day visit. In an area being renovated for expo center, so get good directi... Read more

Very welcoming staff, 24h reception which helped a great deal with our ferry being 7 hours delayed! Hotel looked very nice, shame we couldn't spend a bit more time there but the manager allowed us an extra 2hours before checkout which was fantastic. Room / bed was very comfortable. Be wary that parking is charged on top of room rate and the entry road is confusing. Be wary that parking is charged on top of room rate and the entry road is confusing.

the place was very nice but unfortunately the service didn't match, when we arrived they had not got us booked for 3 rooms only 2 and the receptionist was very rude and ignorant not wanting to deal with the problem as we clearly presented her with our confirmation, she then tried to serve other people and tried to ignore us at this stage we told her how rude she was being and could we speak to someone who could sort this and apparently they were all on a break and magically when she started to b... This is really a three star hotel. Parking is 10 Euros a night and breakfast is 15 Euros per person. The access road to the hotel is completely blocked by construction so just getting to the hotel is daunting. The easiest route initially is to go into the free parking garage for the Ikea and go all the way to the end and make a right turn and go to the exit located on the back left end of the Ikea outdoor parking. Take the exit and the entrance to the Holiday Inn is about 100 feet away and c... Read more

Stayed here on an overnight stop while driving from Sweden to the UK. The hotel is fine, a typical basic mid-range hotel with a decent breakfast and facilities, though the location is... unusual to say the least. The hotel really serves the Flanders Expo rather than the city centre in any meaningful sense, and presumably most guests are expected to arrive by car. But the area, currently, is a massive construction site, and you have to drive through a bizarre and not brilliantly signposted labyri... Read more

I visited this hotel earlier this year and was a little disappointed. I visited it again last month and I am not sure whether it was better or not this time. Interestingly we had exactly the same room as on the previous occasion. Perhaps there are not many executive rooms - not sure. But it is a very nice room but with a rather old television and of course the window does not open as it looks into the atrium so it is very dark and claustrophobic. We did not attempt to stay for dinner in the li... Read more

Am sure when it was built this hotel was unique. Now it's tired, very tired and located in the middle of a bizarre traffic scheme opposite IKEA. That said, the staff are amazing, the menu excellent and for a single overnight stay it's not bad. If you can stay in central Ghent. Cheaper taxis, more to see, more to do

Good quality hotel with decent rooms and bathroom. Receptionist's English was difficult to understand because of very strong accent. The worst thing is currently getting there if you driving a car, there are some roadworks around the tram station and the whole area between Ikea and the hotel is a mess. Parking, which you have to pay for, is of very basic standard as well.

Situated in the middle of a building area the hotel was quite obviously one of the original buildings and the hotel confirms this. Rooms and even executive level ones are in great need of upgrading, the bar area is pathetic and not at all inviting. Breakfast and restaurant are both good. All in all not the best hotel in Ghent and not the level I would expect from Holiday Inn, shame really

This was my first stay at the hotel and although it's not a four star it's a pretty good three star. The staff is friendly, the rooms are clean and a respectable size. Parking was ample. There is a lot of construction in the immediate vicinity that has disrupted traffic flow. If you follow the signs you'll get there but I suspect there's about 3-4 minutes extra time added to your travel due to it. The breakfast buffet is pretty good by European standards but the restaurant has a very limited... Read more

Went to visit agent and then Brugges for the weekend with the family Chose this hotel as its part of the brand I'm most loyal too. Cost of room was very good as its a little out of the city, but has great access into the city with a tram just 500 yards from the hotel that takes you into the heart of everything, shopping site seeing etc. So don't let its location away from town put you off from staying here. Plenty of parking although at a charge I thin 10 euros Very comfy room with king bed and... Read more

Stayed here twice on the way out and on the way back to and from the UK. Staff friendly and efficient although, as previously mentioned, the decoration is getting old and tired - at least in the room where we stayed and in parts of the breakfast area. Breakfast was pretty good too and free wifi ok for my simple browsing needs. When I originally booked about 6 months before they accepted pets. On the way out, no problem, on the way back they mentioned they no longer accept pets but it was OK for ... Read more

I booked via booking.com as I was searching for a competitively priced hotel and found the Holiday Inn quite competitive, however, only to find that we then couldn't claim our reward points for our stay! It has since been pointed out to me that it is in the terms and conditions but I think it's a very bad idea and puts me off Holiday Inn out of principle! It seems very unfair on help sites such as trip advisor and booking.com; if Holiday Inn are wanting to be among the choices then they shouldn'... Read more

It's great for an overnight but there is public transport not far so can be used for spending time in Gent for discovering the city. We had a consultation at UZ Gent in the early hours, it was a 5 min drive from the hotel. Our room was great, updated with a couch. Mattress was hard but it's usually hard for me in every hotel. Breakfast is very basic. The reception was amazing and they solved a problem for us very creatively, thumbs up to them!!! :) We will be back due to my treatment at the hosp... Read more

Firstly like other reviewers have mentioned is the poor access to the hotel. I am new to driving abroad and this layout was enough to induce a panic attack, especially with it being dark when I arrived. At one point I thought I would never find access. The car park is below the hotel, which means you have to drag yourself and your luggage up a flight of stairs (maybe there was a lift but I never found it). The ticket machine is on the wrong side for UK cars, meaning you have to run around th... Read more

Rooms are OK. Bathrooms OK. Nice warm water. Bathtub bit rusty Try to avoid the ground floor. Quite noisy.
