This hotel is located right off of the motorway, and has ample parking. It is also the location of the Tesla supercharger station if you are a Tesla owner. The rooms are clean, and the staff is extremely friendly and helpful. They have bicycles to rent in the lobby for ten euros a day; I had a great few hours of riding around the old city and seeing the sights. The hotel is also a close walk across the motorway (via a bridge) to the UZ Gent hospital, and a somewhat longer walk to the univ... Read more

Very shortly, clean hotel, nice room, ...comfortable. Nice staff at reception.Otherwise quite isolated if you intend to visit Ghent (around 12 Eur from hotel to city center), breakfast I can say quite modest (compare with other hotels from Belgium), cookies and croissants from my first day there appear to be from at least previous day, just cold food. Just nearby there is a small restaurant.....I think is a better choice. Wi-fi free and ok. Many chargers for electric cars........I saw a lot of... Read more

Although this hotel is called Holiday Inn Express Gent, you pass a sign saying you are leaving Gent before you get here so expect a long walk into the city or there are buses nearby which get you into the centre. Our stay was pretty uncomfortable because on the first two nights the air con was broken, it was apparently fixed on the third night but was still pretty poor. Three nights of a very warm room made for little sleep. There is a supermarket around the corner from the hotel but be warned... Read more

We were travelling from Amsterdam to southern Belgium and wanted a stop over in a nice place. The hotel was easy to find, we did not need a satnav or a map and parking was easy, it is not in a very scenic place but a 15 euro taxi ride you are in the centre of Gent which is a stunning city. The rooms were clean and comfortable and the staff friendly and helpful, breakfast was the usual HIE fare. Suited us fine for what we wanted.

Close to to football stadium and highway but else wise it's not close to anything, located in an industrial area and not really inside Gent. Restaurant/bar was ok, service good, wifi worked great, bed was comfy and I had a good sleep, room was really quiet despite it was so close to the road, breakfast was basic but ok. Overall a ok stay but not not the best location if you want to explore Gent.

it is a nice business hotel, far from anything with nothing around accept for some factories. the restaurant is nice with friendly staff, this i cannot say about the guy who did our checking and was a bit on the rude side. plenty of parking. the city itself is very beautiful, try climbing to one of the churches for a great view.

Clean, smart and well run. We stayed on a particularly busy weekend and this did not affect service. Ate in the restaurant one evening and food was excellent. Breakfast is a simple affair but to be expected at an Express. Good location for short drive to city centre.

This hotel was very nice but location was far from everything. As we stayed on Sunday the restaurant was closed and there was nowhere to eat nearby. Clerk could not recommend a restaurant nearby but advised to drive into Ghent.

Excellent located next to highway crossroads, with very friendly and helpful staff, very clean and well equipped rooms, correct and tasteful breakfast. When visiting Ghent to be recommended for city trip or gateway to other cities nearby

Satisfied. Good bed & matress !! (Not sure about the label). Good breakfast but average. Even when it's close to the highway - still 'quiet'. Minus is the parking fee. ("Proeftuinstraat" is free, but full). Keep up the good work and don't forget to put some more colours on the outside of your hotel. Strange difference between in- & outside. :-)

Stayed here for one night to break up the journey from Calais to Germany last May. The location for the motorway was perfect and we were there very quickly from Calais- less than 90 minutes. The room was surprisingly large for the 4 of us and quite well equipped (better so than our last Premier Inn family room for example). The service was good and the breakfast the next day was perfectly adequate for what we needed. All 4 of us (2 adults and 2 children) found lots of things we liked and we left... Read more

Price/quality balance was ok. Don't expect a lot of luxury, it's a holiday inn express ;). Bed was a bit hard, room was a bit warm and didn't cool down sufficient for the night. Breakfast was ok and everything you would expect was there and replenished in time.

We picked this hotel because we flew into Amsterdam and immediately needed to head south to France. We wanted to avoid the vacation traffic that would start in the next day or two. The location of this hotel is great. Right off the highway so it was simple to find. The beds were comfortable. We met grandparents here so they could see the grandkids for a night before we headed on to France. The hotel itself needs updating. That said, the rooms was comfortable. We were able to get an adj... Read more

We stayed just one night to break up a very long car trip with the kids. The room was clean and nicely decorated. The bathroom (shower & wc) was sufficient and clean (though a bit worn around the edges). The breakfast buffet was simple but sufficient to get us started. All in all it was a good stop - convenient to the motorway and with sufficient parking available (the latter for 10 EUR per night). Including parking and snacks purchased in the evening, the room + breakfast for a family of f... Read more

This is a HI Express so I did not expect much, and it pretty much was what I expected. Its in a good location for onward travel, not so good for visiting the city you may want to find somewhere a little closer. Its in an industrial area so there is nothing within walking distance, and next to a busy motorway. Room was basic but comfortable, I had a family room which was a decent size and the the sofa bed was comfortable enough for the kids. Breakfast again is very basic but this did have a rest... We stayed one night and it is conveniently located close to the motorway for onward travel. It is a short distance (5km?) from the centre of Ghent, easily cycled but may not be the best use of your time if you walk. However you can take the no 4 tram from UZ (10 min walk), change at St Pieter's station to no 1 or 21 tram and that takes you to the centre. This tram was only opened in March 2016. Check in was good, receptionist very helpful and friendly. Our room was ready despite our early arriva... Read more

One thing I like about Holiday Inn Express is that they tend to be of a common standard, quite good and usually quite convenient. When visiting Gent in the past I have gone to the Holiday Inn but on this occasion I thought it would be worth a change to check out the alternatives. This particular hotel is not very well located I have to say. It is certainly more or less a restaurant-desert in the local area. We did look at the restaurant in the hotel but it seemed expensive to us so we looked el... Read more

Benefitting from originally being a Holiday Inn, the rooms are large and spacious, with comfortable beds, excellent shower, and well maintained. As ever, the buffet breakfast was good, and although we didn't use it, the menu in the restaurant looked interesting and was competitively priced. There is a large car park (chargeable), equipped with electric car charge points, surrounded by trees. Just down the road is the Ghent football stadium. Someway from the city centre, a taxi was around ?1... Read more

Stayed twice recently, good value, very helpful and pleasant reception staff, the restaurant very empty, food ok but small choice and some items not available ,service and staff attitude leave a lot to be desired, better to eat out in Gent centrum, breakfast very basic but does the job,in all it is just off the motorway and does the job for overnight stays.

Hotel is already what older. The restaurant is renewed but the people here are not having fun to work here. Besides that is it also that the food is only ok if you. Impart it with a highway restaurant. But easy to park and to pass. For the rest not a fun place.

Booked this hotel for one night. Nearby highway. Very basic but large room. Very noisy due to AC on the roof outside. Breakfast also very basic. For me to expensive for one night, definitely when I compared with hotels in the neighborhood.

This hotel is very similar to a Travel Lodge in U.K. The room was of reasonable size, clean, comfortable bed with tea making. There is free wifi and an included buffet breakfast which was also adequate. The staff were mixed some very helpful others not. The location is accessible by public transport from train station takes about 30 minutes to centre with a change of tram. Adjacent restaurant offers only a limited menu at the weekends but food was good perhaps a little expensive.

The hotel is what you expect from a highway hotel. Basic service, friendly staff, simple (but crowded) continental breakfast. The room was very large and clean. But the bed and pillows were surprisingly uncomfortable. The city center of Ghent is actually not as accessible as one would've liked and public transport is not as regular as Belgian standards.

We spent one night in this hotel on our way to the Czech Republic. We arrived about 9 pm and had a beer and an excellent meal in the bar. I had the pasta with pesto and it was fabulous ( lekker ), better than some restaurants. It was a huge bowlful. Room was exactly as expected and the breakfast was busy, but you could help yourself and have a take away cup if you were in a big rush. We turned up at the hotel again four days later at 10 pm only to find that they were fully booked as there was a... Read more

Very annoyed with the way this hotel operates. This is not a reflection on the staff as they were very nice and helpful. My biggest complaint is the restaurant. If you sit on one side of the little wooden partition, it's considered the bar and they won't serve you. If you happen to come in during certain hours, they won't serve you. Thursday afternoon for lunch after driving all morning? Nope. Saturday night at 1930? Are you crazy? And heaven forbid there was another place to eat within a 20-30 ... Read more

Went with my family to spend the weekend in Ghent. Once we arrived at around 12:00 pm; the start was shocking when we knew that there is no room service and their restaurant is closed. He offered me to call Dominos pizza where after doing so, we had a delay for an hour waiting for the delivery ! After the delivery came, his pin machine was broken and I told the reception to pay him and put it on the room since I have no cash; but the guy at the reception refused!!Therefore the delivery man ha...
