Just spent a weekend at the Silken Berlaymont which was clean and comfy. It's location is central and it's easy to get around Brussels. The Schuman Metro station is 2 min on foot. I got a cheap weekend deal through Expedia at £35 per night. Well worth staying if the room rate is reasonable.

Check-in was very quick and I left my car in the underground parking (with some trouble, the descent is extremely steep, narrow and with a 90-degree turn at the end) and was able to take the lift straight up to my room. View was over the garden and the room was plenty spacious. Good flatscreen with ample channels to choose from. The bed is excellent as are the little chairs. The wooden furniture such as the desk and the TV cabinet are showing age and really should urgently be replaced). The b... Read more

Very nice experience, the room was big enough for its price, the extras were also nice (small safe, gym etc), big enough bathroom, good bed (the most important part!), the heating was nice as well. The price was also right for the room. A bit more would not be justified (hence the good review). The only downside, the curtains don't fully cover windows, sunlight wakes you up.

The hotel placed centrally in Brussels and in neighborhood to EU buildings. It is also close to a few nice restaurants nearby. The cleanness is outstanding. The sleep quality was very high and enjoyable. The breakfast is plentiful and tasty, but the breakfast serving place is always crowded in the morning and everybody is in hurry. What I didn't like is the reception desk and their check-in and check-out procedures. Even though my room was booked by a company, they asked a credit card and froze... Read more

Hotel Silken was in a great location for me right close by to the metro station, Schuman. It took only 15 minutes to get into Grand Place in the centre of Brussels but was also very convenient to travel in the other direction to the office I needed to visit. I used a mix of the 24 hour metro ticket (?7.50) and a couple of single tickets (?2.10) throughout mu stay. You can also walk out to the hotel from the Grand Place area in about 35 minutes. It's a bit of a trek uphill initially, but ... Read more

It was my third or fourth stay in this very good hotel, but similarly to previous visits it was only one night stay, therefore I had not much time to explore the hotel. Hotel is clean, well kept, very good choice if you have meetings in the European institutions. Room is modern with TV, free wifi, which has been upgraded since my last stay and is much faster. Toilet and bathroom are adequate with free shampoo, shower gel, etc.

A modest 4-star hotel at 3-star hotel rates. Rooms are spacious and well-equiped (a little outdated and may be over-used), staff was quick, smiley and professional.Asking for directions to reach the hotel by bus, I received a reply email within 3 minutes! Ideal location for business trips related to Eur Commision.

Nice hotel which mostly caters business guests. Good rooms With kind regards, everything you need. In the weekends you can get good deals here, and so did we. Package included the Hotel Spa, which I can recommend. Our Sunday started with a visit to the sauna, steam cabin, infrared cabin and the whirlpool. I'd advice you to skip the breakfast and go to a bakery like Le Pain Quotidien. I've had a breakfast at this hotel on an other visit and can tell you it's quit good. Only for ?27 per pers... First of all, the basics - all good. Clean, spacious rooms, and I had a great night's sleep (and, strangely, could see the European Commission from my window, not an everyday sight). However, for a four star hotel the quality was not consistent. My room lacked some of the amenities the first night (some towels, kettle, etc), which magically appeared the next night. Shower slightly leaky, some furniture was old, menus in the room outdated - again, all details but all important if you're trying ... Read more

The hotel is very well located in the heart of the EU district, and in walking from all the important places in the area. That is about the only thing what is good about this hotel.Expensive to stay and they rate themselves with a 4 star.It should be a 2 star hotel. It needs an update everywhere. The room I had was ok for its size but it was a front room with was even more expensive to rent. Foodwise. They have a very limited room service menu here, and if you stay like I did for 14 days then you ... Read more

Spent two week-ends at the hotel: one in June, one in July. Personnel at the reception was slow but very nice and polite. The first time I was given a smaller room, while I was upgraded to a nicer and more spacious room at no extra cost the second time I stayed in. Rooms are clean and well organised. Toiletries are of good quality. Towels are also impeccably clean and of different sizes. The second time I had a bathrobe and slippers. During the weekend, the parking spaces in front of the hotel ... Read more

As its name suggest the hotel is in the centre of t he European District busy in the wheel, dead at weekends. The property is situated on a plot between two roads the reception is on one road and most of the rooms are on the other road - so it's a long walk down an underground corridor to the rooms. I knew that there is an entrance from the other road - an anonymous single door between a shop and restaurant - when I asked how to get to it the people at reception didn't know! Honestly said, the room was the only thing that remembers a 4* hotel. NEGATIVE POINTS 1 - The reception was quite overloaded and under-numbered. The people working there at the reception we're not aware of the booking we've done (the spa and the parking slot were included in our reservation, but the wanted us to pay...); 2 - No towels for the spa available on an ordinary Tuesday in the week; 3 - The spa was terribly set. Lockers were broken, jacuzzi with broken activating buttons, hairdrye... Read more

I already "excellently" rated this hotel in the past so did not expect any (negative) surprises. Following my previous experience I requested a room in the front (renovated) part of the hotel and also got it... Had the room number 603 and could not sleep because of a not too loud but steady noise. Next morning I complained at the reception and got the room 701, went to check - and the same noise; had it confirmed by a receptionist who refused to give me yet another room before a technician comes... The reception was very busy and the staff there was a little overloaded so it took some time before check in. When I left I asked the reception to help me find a cab for the airport and it took more than half an hour before it came, maybe because the first person from the reception I asked forgot to do it.......You have to pay a deposit of 50? even if you pay for the whole stay upfront. The room was nice and the location is good. There is nothing in the minibar. If you want minibar services yo... Read more

Location is perfect, near metro station and very close to city center. The decor is nice and the room comfortable and very quiet. The lady gave us an executive room for the same price however the price didn't include any acess to gym, spa (which is presented as picture of the hotel), or breakfast. The towel had suspicious stains and the bathroom rubbish bin hadn't been changed. We complaint about it and was solved.

We stayed here during a visit to Brussels. We were reallocated this hotel by Expedia so it wasn't our first choice to be fair. The hotel is clearly set up for a businessman travelling alone. There was one of everything - even coffee sachets! We had to ask for extras constantly. It's a fair distance from the city centre but plenty of transport links outside the hotel. The mattress was very old - you could feel every spring, and the decor/bathroom was tired - who has shower curtains these days? We... Read more

This hotel was reasonably priced but there was nothing amazing about the hotel. You pay for what you get. The room was not modern and was quiet dusty. We were facing an Irish bar and the music was loud from the bar until the early hours of the morning. The hotel is located very near the metro and there is a beautiful Italian restaurant not too far away. There are plenty of Irish bars in the surrounding area. An ok hotel for a cheap break away.
