we were there a week after the terrorist attack - the charlemagne was quiet but really, really good - calm, considerate, thoughtful staff - for example, we needed some envelopes and they sorted it out quickly and professionally - good rooms, effective shower, modern and quiet room - efficient lifts, very pleasant entry - there's a handy exki over the road . . . the eu parliament wasn't in session so the whole area was super quiet - which also made the hotel a great deal

Decent hotel at the back of Berlaymont at walking distance of European institutions. Rooms are clean with necessary furniture. Modern bathroom. Free wifi not always accessible in room. Breakfast is okay. Very helpful staff.

I have mixed feelings about this hotel. I chose the hotel as I was travelling with my dog and when I booked through Hotels.com it definitely stated pet friendly. Well, on arrival I was told it was pet friendly for small dogs not large dogs like mine. However, since they did not see my dog I think I got away with it. Just keep this in mind if booking with a large dog! Yes there is room service as advertised, but it is very limited since there is no restaurant on site. All that was available was ... Read more

No parking (unless you are first in and still you have to find a parking spot first to leave your car to go to reception and get access to the parking lot, not much point really). No room service. For an evening meal I was told there are "plenty of restaurants in the area". For just a room, with nothing else, not even a decent TV, I could have gone somewhere a lot cheaper.

I stayed in this hotel many times and it was pretty good, even though they have an outdated wifi not working with Apple devices. Last time a reserved for the night of March 22...it was impossible to reach Brussels after the terrorist attack so I warned them and ask for a free cancellation owing to a case of force majeure. They didn't accept and this is really nonsense. I'll no longer book this hotel. They put me off.

Second stay while on business trips chosen for location. Rooms comfortable and clean and perfectly adequate. Breakfast had reasonable choice including sausage, bacon and scrambled egg. I am used to Continental hotels rarely having any tea or coffee facilities, but I do feel it is over the top to provide a Nespresso machine and offer four capsules at an extortionate â?¬2.50 a time!

It has been almost a year but I remember our stay well and that is because the hotel left a positive impression. We could park our car in the underground car park and could walk to the city center. Yes, it is that close. If you do not wish to walk you can take the subway which you can reach in a two minute walk. The hotel is right next to Le Berlaymont with its iconic twelve EU flags. The room was very clean with real comfy beds but we did not eat breakfast at the hotel so I cannot say anything ... Read more

Check- in was done in a friendly and efficient manner. Furniture in room decent, but the wall-to-wall carpet looked stained to the point I didn't like walking in there with no shoes. Mattresses a bit uncomfy as I could feel some sort of plastic barrier through the sheets- I took one of duvet off the other twin bed to put underneath me which helped. Bathroom clean enough, but was very disappointed with an older bathtub with a shower head in it- it was outdated and didn't look modern and invitin... Read more

The hotel is conveniently located near the EU premises. The (bath) rooms are however outdated. The staff is friendly and professional, but all in all there are better hotels in the area for the same price. Hotels are expensive anyway in the region, but good location comes with a price obviously. Trainstation Schuman having a direct connection to the airport and Brussels-Midi station (connection to Paris and Amsterdam) is nearby as are several restaurants, including breakfast options around.

As we arrived, we were first welcomed by some extremely annoying crisp smell (something akin to incense sticks). Staff seemed very helpful at first, but a weird thing happened right away. We arrived early and asked about the check-in time when receptionist said that they have a room available for us already, checked us in and let us go upstairs to the room. Room key didn't work so one of us went back down to ask what's wrong. Eventually both of us had to go back down with our luggage and all the... Read more

The personnel was very friendly. The breakfast buffet is excellent. For smokers it would be nice if there will be an indoor room where smoking is possible. The hotel is near the premises of the EU and has a personal touch.

The hotel is really nice and clean, the rooms cosy and warm. Breakfast is good and the staff very polite and helpful. It is located in a quiet area, just behind the Berlaimont building very close to the Schuman metro station. Very convenient, especially if you have meetings at the area. The Cinquantenaire park is very close and worth visiting.
