We stayed here for 4 nights on our first trip to Bruges. We had a superior room (room 29) at the front of the hotel with a very small balcony and a lovely view of the Belfry. The room was a good size with a small hall separating the bathroom and bedroom. Breakfast was ok, no hot food but plenty of cereals, bread, cheese and ham. Only criticism was the staff were a bit slow to clear tables which could be an issue if there were lots of people trying to eat at the same time. Staff were friendly and... Read more

The room and breakfast were excellent and the location (right by one of the canals in central Bruges) really outstanding. We felt with such a fabulous situation that more could have been done with the bar but sure that will come once the restaurant refurbishment is complete! As a whole-highly recommended!

I would choose the same hotel next time i visit mainly because of the good location. Our room was very small. We asked for a more comfy room and were granted one. As a three star hotel, it had all we needed. Coffee machine and hair dryrer were nice pluses.

Our travel agent requested a canal view months before as this would be our only time in Bruges. This didn't happen!!! They have bought a cheaper hotel in front of the old one on the canal and you guessed it, that's where we were shoved! You had to walk past the piles of bikes and prams to the tiny elevator that smelled of ..... To a room that wasn't air conditioned. In late May we were sleeping with the windows open on top of the doona! Shampoos, soaps etc were not replenished and we stayed thre... Read more

Great walks along the canals and to nearby City Center. Wednesday morning market is a joy to the senses! Parking is nearby, secure, and inexpensive. The lift is small but does the job! I will include breakfast next time as most restaurants do not open before 11 am or cater to their own hotel residents. I did not realize I was booking a "budget" room so was surprised to walk into this tiny ugly room with flea market furniture. It was clean and the bed comfortable, but next time I will review the ... As many others have mentioned, the location of this hotel is perfect. It's within walking distance to the Markt square where the Belfry tower and many restaurants are, and it's right beside a canal where you can book a boat tour very easily. The boat tours are only around ?8 per adult, they're very informative and a great way to see the city. The man who was at reception when we first arrived was helpful and took our bags in as we were there approx 2-3 hours before the normal check in time. I... Read more

We had a very pleasant stay during our 3 night break to Bruges. The location of this very quaint hotel is ideal for exploring this old medieval town - In fact the hotel appears on many pictures of Bruges as its right across from the famous canal spot where the popular tours start. You can walk everywhere in just a couple of minutes and the train station where you will arrive is under 15 minutes. It's about a 2 minute walk from Belfry Tower and the famous Market Square. The hotel is very old and... Read more

The building and room are OLD. Old in an interesting way. We had a room at water level. The view was to die for. A family of ducks would swim over every time we opened our window. This place oozes charm. The bed was comfortable and the room wasn't stuffy and I don't know how they managed that, what with the canal right outside the window. Breakfast was your basic European meat/cheese/bread/fruit buffet with no hot options, but fresh and plentiful. Only two reservations. 1. the WIFI only worke... Read more

My father, my sister, and I intended to travel to Bruges by rail from London and stay at this hotel from 11/26/15 through 11/29/15. This was a long-awaited trip that we looked forward to very much. Immediately prior to this time, the terror attacks on Paris occurred and Brussels issued a warning of imminent danger of attack on the city. As the only practical way to reach Bruges required us to travel through Brussels and due to the close proximity of Bruges to Brussels (which was on lockdown a... Read more

We spent one night in this hotel. The building is old with stepped gables and beside a canal. A hotel with character in a wonderful setting. Our room was in the basement. It was large and clearly had once had a different function. There was a large stone fireplace in the room with carved heads. The windows looked out over the canal, not far above the water level. There was a free standing wardrobe and an old sofa. Nothing matched. However, the bathroom was modern and very good. Staff very... Read more

As mentioned so many times before: great location; right in the heart of old Bruges. Not refurbished recently thus preserved some of the old charm. We had one of the cheaper rooms thus the view was of the internal courtyard, but very quiet and good sleep(perhaps because not facing the canal with all the tourist boats going up and down). Room was not huge but enough, bathroom was nice. Staff was polite and helpful. Breakfast I felt had very few options but all good and as we only stayed 2 days wa... Read more

The hotel was kind in allowing us an early check-in and gave us an intro to the facility and the location of places of interest. Located on the canal the hotel is at the very centre of Bruge, very close to a public car-park. The breakfast was sumptous, although we had to remind the chef to replenish the food as did some other guests.

The location could not be better - right in the middle of everything. Views from the rooms are wonderful. We had a room in the basement, though, which was very, very musty. There was a definite odor. The room looked like a 1970's basement...strangely furnished and decorated. The smell, though..made me glad we were only there for one night.

We had chosen this hotel ad hoc just a few hours before we arrived, and were more than pleased with the location, which is at one of the most beatiful spots of Bruges. The hotel is a former brewery, and the rooms show many old features (only mismatch was a modern cupboard). Bathrooms would need some upgrading. The breakfast had been served on the ground floor in a former bistro / bar. A really nice place, just a shame that it is not open in the evenings (at least it was not when we were there, b... We stayed at the Hotel Bourgoensch Hof on the 9th-12th July and location wise you can't fault it. It is literally next to the Belfry Tower and Markt square. We did pick the hotel for this reason without probably fully appreciating how small Bruges is. For example we walked everywhere, the Windmills were about 20mins away, the Halve Maan Brewery about 15 mins away, the canal boat rides are situated all over the main squares. If we had researched a bit more we probably would have found a hotel a l... Read more

Really great location, right in the heart of old Bruges. Needs a bit of money spent on the place but good value for the price as the location could not be bettered. Generous sized room was OK, looking out to the street, bathroom was adequate. Hotel staff were helpful at all times. Breakfast was great value at 6 eu per head, I would happily recommend this hotel for someone who wants to stay in the heart of town and doesn't need the best of everything. We would come back.

Stayed here for 1 night. The location was brilliant and the setting was top notch. We had a room with a canal view which was amazing. The only thing is it doesn't have air conditioning, but we opened the windows but it was still quiet warm. The hotel is in need of a revamp. The staff were very friendly and helpful. This hotel is really in the heart of the old town within walking distance of all the main sites of interest, the hotel is clean and the rooms we had were very nice and quite large, beds comfortable. I found the price a bit steep for what it offered but probably in line with similar places in the town, had to use public car park which was I think 24 euros a day. A very pleasant two night stay. The room was a good size and well appointed. There was a good choice for breakfast, although the addition of some rice cakes for us coeliacs would be a helpful addition. The only drawback would be the WiFi which was, at best, intermittent. Pity, it's cost them a star.

We booked this at the last minute and we were really happy with the location. So close to the centre of Bruges, but then the town itself is pretty small so most places wouldn't be too far away. We booked 2 separate nights on 2 separate bookings and therefore had to change rooms. Not the hotel's fault at all. The first room we had was on the street side with a great view of the street and we could people watch from there. The beds were 2 single ones pushed together, but this wasn't unusual for... I cannot fathom out how this hotel has been awarded a 3 to 4 star rating. It is disgusting. We thankfully only stayed here 1 night in July and the "highlights" of the stay at this hotel were: 1/ The ground floor communal toilets had the same dirty paper in the w/c both days..yuk!! 2/ The bedroom was so dirty and smelly that we didnt dare get into the bed...that is quite rare for a hotel i imagine! 3/ As the photos will show, the dirt and damp is ingrained into the hotel bedroom...how this passes... We booked the extra space room with canal views and were not disappointed. The top floor corner room was very spacious, it would have made three if not four modern hotel rooms with the same space. Comfortable arm car and sofa one which we lounged as we watched the canal boats through the large open windows. This is obviously an old building and as such has quirks and is not the squeaky clean modern purpose built hotel and so has its ups and downs but the room was what I would call comfortably sh... This is the best location in the city by far. You can get a canal view room for a fantastic price. The staff is warm and friendly. The after hours bar is charming and full of ambience and is not to be missed. A few gin and tonics will help with the negative aspects of the inn. The rooms are a bit tired. The carpet in the room was horrible. The room furnishings need updating. Other than that, a very charming atmosphere at a very economical price point.

If this hotel was in a less central position, I would have considered it quite poor overall. Its location makes it stand out - overlooking canals, bells, all the magic of Bruges can be seen from the windows overlooking the canals. However the room itself left a lot to be desired. There is no excuse for wallpaper peeling, clumps of dust behind the radiator, shower with no curtain ? The beds were comfy and we slept well on our one night stay. This hotel has the best location and views in Bruges. Although the hotel is in need of updating it is definitely adequate (per the owner, they are staring a multimillion dollar renovation of the hotel the last week of October). The hotel staff were extremely helpful and very nice. Overall a good stay- I'll go back when it has been refurbished though!
