We were given a wonderful room with a balcony and great ocean view. The whole resort has undergone a very tasteful renovation. Food is good, not the huge buffet one finds at a Club Med but always well presented and with a selection to satisfy every taste. But the outstanding part of the vacation is the staff - they are unfailingly cheerful and friendly. We felt as if they couldn't do enough for us - everybody, maids, gardeners, cooks, front desk - they all made us feel so welcome.

We stayed at the Sugar Bay for 10 nights for our wedding anniversary. The hotel food and staff are wonderful. Erleene and Samantha who kindly got me my soda waters and the lovely ladies at breakfast that made me my egg white omelette and brought me cranberry juice, sorry I cannot remember all of your names. But these are the little touches that the staff remember and make you feel special. The rooms are very comfortable and I wouldn't hesitate to return to this hotel. We stayed in a signature ro... This was my first trip to Barbados and my wife and I had a great time. The hotel appears to have been newly refurbished and the facilities, beach, restaurants and bars are all in great shape. I've been to all-inclusives in the D.R., Jamaica and Mexico and this experience was different, I'm having a hard time deciding if it was because it was low season or if there's a slower pace in Barbados than in the other places. They advertise a pub, which was never open, a pool bar, which was never open a... Read more

Just returned from 11 nights at Sugar Bay and words will struggle to do the holiday, and the place justice. My wife and I travelled with friends and all four of us rate this holiday head and shoulders above anything else we've ever experienced. The hotel is set on a lovely beach, in lovely surroundings with all the sights of Barbados within easy distance. It was a great escape! The staff was great! I have shout out Martha one of the cleaning staff who went above and beyond for us! And the bartender Ramone who makes a mean Bob Marley shot! Samantha was another great bartender! The buffet everyday was great! The food was delicious, the nightly entertainment was spot on! We met a lot of great people! The only request is that I wish they put more than just bottled water in the rooms. Some sodas and local beer would be great! Also if they would have s... Read more

Lovely friendly hotel. As a single traveller this is important. All the staff from the Manager to the man tidying up the gardens were so pleasant and friendly and always had time for a chat. Food was excellent in all the restaurants, although Sizzle lacked atmosphere because of its position, Umi and the Reef restaurant overlooked the sea and the evening entertainment but that is the only criticism the steak was excellent. We have never been to Barbados, it won't be our last. Sugar bay is perfect. From the moment you arrive to the beautiful settings. The staff are so welcoming, they cannot do enough for you. Always smiling & up for a chat. There isn't one member of staff that sticks out because from the porter, front desk, kitchen staff to bartenders they are all a credit to the hotel.
