"Hotel could use some updating it is falling apart. It would be nice to have more umbrellas around the pools or for there to be umbrellas at the beach so you can have some shade from the sun. Be prepared for masses of people to invade the resort when the cruise ships come in. They allow them to purchase day passes to use the beach and pool so your peace and quiet at the resort is gone until they leave at 3 or 4 o clock The prices for drinks at Hammerhead bar is higher on the weekends. The Staff in the cafe and sundry shop are not very friendly. Expect to pay an additional $10 a day for energy surcharges to your room costs. They do not tell you about that when you check in. It is a surprise to your bill when you check out Otherwise the resort is okay. Nice to be able to walk across the street to eat because there is not a lot to choose from at the resort. The breakfast buffet is good because you have a lot to choose from for a decent price."

"We just got back this week. We stayed for 6 nights & it was wonderful. Check in wasn't too bad, took maybe 30 minutes. Staff was very friendly & helpful. Room was clean & nice, we had ocean view on 5th floor-beautiful!!!! We didn't have any problems with hot water or water pressure in the showers. The weather was perfect 80's & breazy. Not alot of kids/teenagers at this time of year, so it was pretty quiet. Should have booked excursions beforehand, some were full for the whole week.We did swim with the dolphins, it was around $160 per person,we also did the cave/beach tour ( $50 per person) & it was pretty good. The cruise ships apparently have one of those excursions where they bring people to the hotel beach for the day, but it still wasn't too crowded. I think sections of the hotel aren't even opened, the pool with the slide was closed & that section of the resort looked deserted. The market it right across the street , it has shopping & restaurants. Prices aren't any better there & food is expensive & mediocre at best. We mostly ate breakfast at the little coffe shop in the hotel nothing fancy -they have muffins,bagels,danishes, breakfast sandwiches, fruit, around $6-10 per person. Subway is right across the street if u want a sub. Do not go to International Market- HORRIBLE- half the stores aren't even open & it's a little scary. Overall we had a great time & can't wait to go back."

"I have stayed at this hotel several times and have always enjoyed my experience however this time I found the hotel to be less accommodating than previous visits. They booked us in a room were we could not enjoy our balcony due to being directly over the vents and fans of the hotel. They did change the room once I complained. The hotel could use some small repairs. I truly liked the hotel better when it was the Westin. I noticed the new owners have tried to shut off one of the best eating spots in Freeport, 'Billy Joes' which is on the property at the end near the beach. I guess it is an effort to get people to eat at their extremely high priced restaurants."

A Recent Traveler

"Wandering March 4th thru March 8th 2012 This place is well kept; the grounds are meticulous and clean. The room was very clean; however, I would say that the bathroom is dated, but very functional and clean also. The shower pressure is limited, and on occasion we found that the volume of hot water available could be a little limited in the late afternoon and early evening. We stayed in room 703, which was on the end of the building so the balcony was quite large and we could see both the ocean and the marina. The staff was for the most part very friendly and I found housekeeping to be very helpful and quick. We did not eat at the resort very much, however the sushi I did have at the Chinese restaurants, on the grounds, was terrific and fresh. We ate across the street at the village. Zorbas had good food, the Greek salad dressing could be a little weak at times, but the salads were very fresh and I had the snapper for supper and it was terrific. Service here can be slow, but I was on the island-time and the restaurant was pretty busy so it was understandable. Pieces: also had a good salad and a great pizza from this place, they're only open for dinner though. Nevertheless, I would recommend them as the staff was great and the service good. La Med: had lunch there on our last day and they have several lunch specials that are quite reasonably priced. They also have their own bakery, so be sure to get the garlic bread with your dinner. The salad here was also very good, and in fact one of the owners of the small Conch Fritter shack towards the back, where your can buy 4 fritters for a dollar, of the marina-village told me that La Med is responsible for the salad fixings at several of the restaurants. Subway: No $5 foot long expect $8 dollars or so. The ingredients for fresh here also. As far as cost for food I would expect to spend around $50-$60 for a great dinner, a few drinks, and a good tip. In regards to the casino, it was well kept and very quiet. While the place is open 24 hours a day that table games close sometime during the night (I didn't stay up to find out when) and do not open until 11:00 in the morning. The beach was beautiful, but if you want to snorkel go to Deadman's Cove. They then will pick you up at the hotel and take it to the beach/reef and back again for $35 per person. The ride to the reef was about 20 minutes and you can stay for 2-4-6 hours, depending on when you leave in the morning or afternoon. The price is $35 no matter how long you stay and it also includes the equipment you'll need to snorkel with. We seen an incredible amount of underwater life while there. How long does it take from our room on the 7th floor: To the casino probably 5-7 minutes at most, perhaps longer if you've been drinking To the beach 4-5 minutes, perhaps longer if you've been drinking, okay you get the idea To the pool 3-4 minutes To the caf� 3 minutes To the marina-village across the street 8-9 minutes Other comments: If you like to walk along the beach head straight out to the beach from the resort and then take aright when there. My wife and I walked into a leisurely pace and it took us about 45 minutes to make it down to one of the inlets. The beach is very quiet once you move beyond the boundary of the resort where a few folks are braiding hair and selling knickknacks. I would have to say that pretty much everyone we met was friendly and easy to speak with. In regards to taxis, it can be a bit expensive/ it cost us $22 plus tip both to and from the airport.
