The room we were in had recently been updated and was very nice. Kitchen supplies were missing as were BBQ utensils but rest of the accomodations were fine. There is still much maintenance and updating that needs to be done. The pools were virtually empty of guests, partly because the water was very cold. The restaurant that was attached to the resort was only average at best. Service was very slow and little was done to accomodate. We only ate one meal here because of the service.

2 BR unit was clean and comfortable. Master BR had jacuzzi in it but as a result sacrificed the space of the bathroom which was very tight. King bed was comfortable. Did kill a cockroach in walk in closet but it was only bug seen and unit was clean. Kitchen was well equipped though some of dishes weren't very clean so just washed before using. Only utensil missing was vegetable peeler. Groceries are VERY expensive and shuttle schedule there is very limited. We went on a Sunday and were unable t... Read more

We have stayed here in the past and the place was pretty run down and badly maintained. However, our last visit was great! Our unit was recently remodeled. The resort lobby, restaurant and outdoor restrooms, were all also remodeled and the area around the pool was furnished with nice outdoor furniture. They had also added a playground and the overall resort appearance has improved, I was truly impressed.

If you are looking for quiet and rest, this is the place. It is not however, within walking distance to the beach, shopping, or attractions unless you are used to walking miles. There is no maid service unless you stay longer than a week. We stayed in the one-bedroom unit with full kitchen which gave us plenty of room to spread out, but had to put some of our clothes in drawers in the kitchen because of lack of a dresser in the bedroom, There are activities at the resort such as Bingo and movies... Must say we had a very pleasant stay at Ocean Reef - we stayed in unit 402 - we met nice people from other units and sail boat guest - rented a bike for $5.00 a day - about a 10 minute ride to the beach - which is very nice - we then road there -- there is parking at a restaurant off from Sea Gate Lane The internet was a bit week in the unit but outside worked and closer to the front desk was fine - staff at the restaurant were very nice - you can tell that everyone is working hard to build up ... This is the first time I ever had to rate a resort as "WORSE RESORT". For some reason our room was in the part that had not been renovated. When asked to switch rooms I was told there were "no more vacancies". We stayed a total of 7 days and I counted 8 rooms that were never occupied. The tiles in the pool were coming off. 7 days at this resort and we never had a maid come to our room. We were told that we can pay for maid service otherwise the sheets will not be changed until we leave. One... Read more

Our family came to celebrate my parent's 50th wedding anniversary. We had a very nice time! The staff is wonderful, very accommodating and friendly. We love that the location is small and is close nit, you are able to get to know all the guests and staff by name which makes it feel like you are spending time with old friends.... The rooms are nice and comfortable and spacious. (We stayed in a 2 bedroom flat) the only thing that needed improvement were the tv's there was a notice that popped up ... Read more

I've been coming here for 6 years now and I just love the place. I feel like I am at home every time I get here. The front desk staff is fabulous, same with house keeping. And when Preston is on watch, it's nice to know he is around if you need him. (actually, all of the security is around if you need anything) Rudy and Jussy are a lot of fun and energetic! Don't get me started about Grand Bahama Scuba, Melinda is the best. I got my certification with them. And they are on sight. They are awesom... Read more

We are WorldMark owners, so we were able to rent a 1-bedroom condo through RCI for our trip. It was very clean. The bed was comfortable. There was a huge jetted bathtub in the bedroom, which you would think is sort of strange, but it was kind of nice and relaxing, actually. The room overlooked the marina and waterway. Not on the beach, but not far from it. Several people told us that Port Lucaya Marketplace was about a five minute walk; however, we found it to be about a 7 minute drive after we ... Read more

We used RCI to exchange here. We had a 2 bedroom. The grounds are very run down and need major improvements. Our refrigerator was freezing all our food even though I turned it warmed. Off would have been better. The pool had so many broken titles in it. The washer and dryers did t work very well. With that being said, the people were extremely friendly and helpful. Overall I had a great time in Freeport! The problem was, none of the great time was at Ocean Reef! I was travelling with two friends and we had to leave the property every day in order to have any thing to do, i.e., there are no amenities onsite except for a pool. The resort is in OK condition, but they need to upgrade...there has been some attempt at upgrade , but they definitely stopped short. Moose and Ray (staffs) at the resort were great, friendly, and helpful. Sits on the marina with mostly nice boats at the docks. Kind of off the beaten path and not close to any beaches but an excellent place for a quiet vacation. When ever or wherever you are in The Bahamas, under no circumstances do you do business with this company. They are scamming tourists. Flat out lying to people. My partner and I travelled to The Bahamas for Christmas of 2015. We were approached by a lovely lady on Paradise Island who offered us a free breakfast and dinner at fish fry. We had a good time at the Ocean Reef during the 3rd week in November. The resort is still recovering from Hurricane Matthew but everyone is working hard to restore the resort. Many of the activities in the area have not been restore but the Lucayan Market Place, Sunn Odyssey Divers, Gold Rock Beach, and Paradise Beach Club were open. Admire the staff and Bahamians for their positive outlook while recovering from the storm.
