There really couldn't be a better location for a hotel in Vienna. You feel you are staying in the old cobblestone historic streets of Vienna literally around the corner from central cathedral. You walk outside and you are "there". You have arrived! You don't feel you need to walk anywhere to be in the cultured Vienna air. The feeling of the hotel is quaint and elegant. I asked for a quiet room (as I had jetlag) and was given one in the back side (not along the street). It was a smaller room (l... Read more

We visited Vienna for the first time Easter 2016 and chose to stay at Hotel Royal because of its city centre location, price and character. We arrived very late due to our flight being delayed, we used Viennataxi.com, booked online before we travelled, to travel from airport to hotel. Hotel staff were so very helpful and made the checking in process very simple- we were very tired!! Breakfast was buffet style- continental, fresh fruit, cereal, yogurt, meats cheeses delicious bread and cake. Ple... Read more

We would highly recommend this hotel for many reasons. 1- It's great central location, less than 1 minute walk away from the beautiful Stephansplatz. The Cathedral is the most central point to start any sightseeing. 2 - Fantastic traditional rooms, very authentically furnished. 3 - The breakfast was varied and fresh (very busy on Saturday!) 4 - The rooftop restaurant - pricey, but you get what you pay for, a great fine dining experience. 5 - The ground floor restaurant - reasonably priced and... We were part of a group booking, and had pre-ordered coffee/tea facilities in our room at 5 Euros a day. There was no milk provided and supplies of tea and coffee were not replenished, so not ideal! The room we had on the 5th floor was clean and comfortable, however as it was at the front of the hotel, overlooking Singerstrasse, it was noisy early in the morning with deliveries and rubbish collection. The Italian restaurant on the ground floor (and where an excellent buffet breakfast was served)... Read more

We stayed here for 4 night and we were very happy with our hotel choice. The location is really perfect. Just of Stephansplatz, hence it couldn't be more central! the entry to the underground stop is only a few metres away. But even if you arrive by car, they have chauffeurs which will park the car for you in a nearby garage (at additional charge of the garage). But really in Vienna you don't need the car. The breakfast is in a nice room on the ground floor, and even some tables outside. The b... Read more

I will start with the positive - it is in a good location. Walking to many things central. The front dest was pleasant and they do serve breakfast with nice selections. We could not have been more disappointed in the rooms and the restaurant upstairs service. If you have a child - DO NOT GO to this place. Our room was tiny, not comfortable and not good for families at all. We decided to have a drink at the upstairs restaurant with a view on our second night, and --- we actually were screame... I stayed in Hotel Royal for four nights, from 6-10 June 2016, with my mother, who is 83. The location was perfect for us, within walking distance of most of the places we wanted to visit - the Kunsthistorische Museum, the hop-on, hop-off bus, the Danube Canal, the City Park, etc. St. Stephan's Cathedral was next door to us, and we were close to many fine restaurants and coffee-houses. An excellent location from which to explore Vienna, within easy walking distance of the Opera . Staff are very friendly offering a personal touch. They responded politely to my email request for a quiet room and provided a pleasant room from which the only external sound was the bells of the neighbouring St Stephens Cathedral which thankfully begin around breakfast time!

Great location - I walked from the CAT (airport train) station which took about 10-15 minutes but was an easy walk, though it was a hot day! Close to the cathedral and pedestrianised area, loads of restaurants and bars. Good breakfast. Small room but comfortable and well equipped. Only small irritation was the cathedral bell! But I recommend it.

My bf booked a trip to Vienna, and we wanted to stay in the middle of the city, so chose Hotel Royal based on location. When we showed up, the receptionist couldn't find our booking and informed us that we booked a sister hotel. We were grateful that he offered a free transfer. Here you are 2 blocks from Mozart's house, and just a few more blocks the other direction from the Hapsburg Palace. Everything is in walking distance - opera house, lots of great shopping and restaurants, etc. Use the hop on-hop off to get to the summer palace. It is a great ride to learn a lot for a small price. Hotel is clean, service is good, quiet even though located right in the middle of everything.
