We spent 3 nights here and loved it! Our room was very comfortable, with a great bed, a wardrobe with plenty of room, a small chest of wicker drawers, 2 cushy chairs, a coffee table and a desk. The bathroom was also roomy with a great shower. We were on the top floor, there's a lift (which was nice with our bags coming & going) but we took the stairs otherwise. It's an older building that's always been a hotel (we asked) but it's been redone in a Viennese style. Our room looked exactly like the ... Read more

I spent 6 nights. The room was comfortable with all required furnishing and even coffee, minibar and a safe. The bathroom has space, warm water and basic amenities. The location is awesome and close to MariaHilfer st. with boutiques etc. Breakfast was and includes a large variety of options with fruit, cereals, bread and much more. The staff is very friendly and helpful. They know a lot and also have all the brochures. I recommend it and would return.

We stayed here for five nights and later for two more. Both rooms were very comfortable, bright and spacious. The breakfast selection and quality are excellent! Friendly and knowledgeable staff, especially the owners. Location is very convenient - tram service to the door, bus to the train station right across the street, subway stop three blocks away - even a reasonable walking distance from the city center. The neighborhood has a fun vibe with lots of interesting shops and restaurants. Overall... Read more

We were really glad we chose the Hotel Kugel for a four night stay in Vienna. It's in a very good and lively area with plenty of public transport and within 15 minutes walk of the inner city; our bedroom had quirky décor, a comfortable bed and good double-glazing to keep it quiet at night; we had tasty breakfasts in a lovely light-filled room; we also enjoyed very much the wonderful Gustav Klimt prints on display on the landings; the owner and staff were friendly and welcoming; and the price wa... Nice rooms with Viennese character, quite central location, not far from shopping / going out at Mariahilferstrasse or U3 subway. Unique breakfast ideas, you should try chief's choices. Rooms are very cosy, perfect for couples on a romantiv trip.

Given all the interesting reviews, we definitely wanted to give this hotel a try. Alas. We made a reservation on the hotel's website (not a third party's), which was, as expected, immediately confirmed both on the web and by email. (We then cancelled a reservation at a different hotel in favor of this one.) The hotel manager (perhaps the owner) contacted us sometime afterward claiming that the web rate was not accurate; that the hotel would never have posted that rate (but it did); and that mana... We stayed here for 3 nights and loved this hotel. The rooms were a little on the small side compared to some we had stayed in on our trip but they were clean and our room was nicely decorated. There was double glazing which kept out most of the street noise of the trams. Located in a vibrant part of the city it was very convenient for public transport and only 10 -15 minutes walk to the beautiful museum quarter. The breakfasts were good with a really nice choice of food. The staff were extremely ... Read more

This was a lovely hotel in the Museum Quarter. The staff were accommodating, the rooms are spacious and well maintained and the breakfasts were top notch. It can be a bit noisy at night but the central location makes up for that.

We stayed here for 7 nights and liked the hotel very much. The staff was great! Very friendly and helpful. When we checked in, they instantly gave as a map and adviced how to get to the city center and to other attractions. Before we even asked a map :) People at the front desk were always willing to help and had time to chat. We had a superior room, a romantic one, which was very nice. Paying a little extra for superior room was worth it. Room had a refrigerator/minibar and in-room safe. The r... Read more

My wife an I stayed a week at the Kugel on holiday last summer. We were in a charming room on the third floor. The breakfast was a traditional Austro-German feast. We had so many choices and the food was very good. The staff were always attentive and engaging. Our first morning it was suggested we go to a food fair in the city park - what a treasure. Every morning the staff made suggestions of activities or provided us with directions for our travels. The hotel is a short ride from the uba... Read more

Located in NEUBAU district on the #49 tram line, the hotel is very convenient for quick access to the main attractions in Vienna. Many. Very god restaurants and cafes within easy walking distance. Family-run hotel, lots of character, well decorated, excellent range of breakfast choices in a comfortable breakfast room. Hotel staff are very helpful and friendly. Tram and street noise no more than to be expected in an urban neighbourhood, bring earplugs if you think tram noises might bother you... Read more

We??ve stayed there at the end of April for one day. Briefly the hotel wasn??t even close to what they show you in picture and doesn??t worth the money you spend comparing what you get. Review and photos can be a little deceiving time to time but in this case the gap was so huge we couldn't believe it. In general, as far as we understand this is not a hotel, it??s either a hostel (bad one) or half hostel - half hotel. But you get no clue about it when you book it from well-known websites.... Such a nice hotel. So lovely and cute. Very welcoming staff also. A clean and romantic room. If you're a couple traveling to Viena you'll enjoy this hotel a lot. The breakfast was really good. A good selection of healthy food with local products.

Friendly hotel with good breakfast. Easy to walk or get the number 49 tram into centre. Some nice bars in the vicinity for evening drinks. Note that there is no aircon (not surprising for price range) which can make rooms hot when temperature in the 30's like they were when we visited. Lots of great advice for things to do from very helpful front desk. Recommend.

Comfortable and centrally located family run hotel. We had a lovely 3rd floor room facing the street. The tram ran along the street but we didn??t find noise to be a problem, nights were quiet. Breakfasts were ample with all you could want. Christina and Johannes were very warm and helpful with any questions we had and offered some interesting insights about the city. I would highly recommend it for a stay in Vienna.

Yes, the tram rattles by the hotel every 15 minutes. Yes, the shower stall was so small I bumped the faucet handle every time I turned around. But these were minor inconveniences for a hotel that has 1) a great location right next to the tram to city center, which is only a 15-20 minute walk if you choose to walk, 2) very helpful and friendly staff, 3) a terrific breakfast, and 4) a comfortable bed in a nicely furnished and well-arranged room. And I got to the airport via a tram that stopped ... Read more

My wife & I spent 5 nights at the Hotel Kugel and can highly recommend this family operated hotel. Our room was comfortable, clean and spacious with a canopy bed. The included breakfast was delicious and ample enough to start our day. The hotel is centrally located on tram and bus lines, and easy walking distance to the museum quarter and inner city sites. The staff was friendly and helpful. Thank you so much, Mr & Mrs Roller, for making our stay in Vienna so enjoyable.

I guess this is the kind of place you either love or loath. The impression I got was of a faded, worn, overheated, stuffy place that hasn't had any money spent on it for ages. My room was covered in red plush and had a large iron-framed 4-poster bed that filled the small room so much I couldn't actually open the bathroom door properly. It could only be opened if I was on one side of the bed! The window frames (not double glazed, and there was no a/c) were so rotten they didn't open properly, and... Read more

Once again I have had an excellent stay at the Kugel! I was allowed to check in a bit early, the staff gave me some excellent tips on local wine festivals, and I found a few more great places within walking distance to sample local craft beer and good food. My other destinations were easily reachable via the tram or subway. I had a 5AM taxi on my last day, so the hotel brought a breakfast tray up to my room the previous evening - a very nice touch!

Let's begin with some objective data: the metro is a five minute walk away, as is Café Ritter, definitely a worthy instance of the Viennese institution of "Kaffeehaus," and even the museum quarter and Kunsthistorisches Museum can easily be reached on foot (or by metro). I cannot assess "value for money", but we found Kugel a welcoming, pleasant place--not one of these look-alike 'chain links' you encounter ever more often. Rooms are spacious, with all expectable appointments (such as mini-ba... Read more

Hotel Kugel is located about a 10-15min from museum area of Vienna. It is a 5min walk to the metro and is centrally located in a fun shopping area with a lot of stores unique to Vienna (i.e. non-chain stores). The rooms are each themed - ours was Asian - and had curtains, linen etc befitting that genre. The hotel is small and almost feels like a B&B - speaking of which - the breakfasts whilst typical in style of Austro-Germanic hotels has some of the most exquisite croissants I've ever had.... Hotel Kugel is a nice little hotel in one of the most interesting (and safe) quarters of Vienna. There are many galleries, restaurants and shops in the vicinity. Staff is friendly, breakfast is very good and you just have to step out of the hotel to take the tram to the town center or to the Westbahnhof train station. Bus no. 13a to Hauptbahnhof (Vienna main station) is also within 50 meters. Be aware that you will hear the tram passing by. If you prefer the clinical atmosphere of the large hot... Read more

Visited Hotel Kugel for 3 times. We usually travel Vienna during Advent time. The hotel has a special atmosphere, highly recommended, especially if you wish to spend some wonderful days with your darling. You can feel the real Vienna here, the disctrict, where this accomodation is located, is the heart of art in the city. Breakfast is wonderful, my favourite is the ring cake. All the foods are procured locally (drindl jam is fabulous). Never met with such romantic breakfast room, with porcelain... Read more
