Wonderful hotel with a great staff in a tremendous location. Really enjoyed our very short stay here, and will definitely stay here again in the future. Reasonable prices and excellent breakfast. Highly recommend.

Booked a triple room for two adults and one child age 12. Lovely hotel, excellent location in Old Town - perfect location, less than a minute walk to the river. Best breakfast we had in Austria! Some lovely restaurants a couple of minutes walk away. Wouldn't hesitate in recommending this hotel.

Location is excellent very close to everything we planned to do. Rooms are clean and beds are comfortable. Staff is friendly and accommodating. The breakfast is included in the price of the room and is a bit better than basic with cooked to order eggs and breakfast meats. Dinner was excellent with selections of beef from the families own herd.

Friendly and helpful staff, awesome food, especially the steak from their ranch... the best I have had!!! Breakfast was good and you get to order your choice of eggs along with bacon and sausages. Perfect location for tourists to get around. Lots of restaurants and coffee shops nearby.

I truly cannot rave enough about this hotel. The owners and the staff could not have been more friendly and helpful - from directing us to a fabulous nearby restaurant that was still open after arriving very late, to advising us as to what to do when it down poured rain all day, and directing us to some of their other favorite restaurants. In addition to the wonderful service, the hotel itself is located in a perfect location. It also has a lobby bar which is perfect for a night cap upon ret... Read more

We stayed here for three nights as part of a Riviera tour. Our room (205) was small with a window high up in the wall, overlooking a nearby wall a few yards away. It was very hot, there was no a/c just a noisy fan to try to cool it. There was no drinks list in the bar, no bill was given to sign so it was pot luck what your final bill might be. For dinner we were offered two choices of main course and when we chose were told we had to sit in the same place on the next night whether we wanted to o... Read more

This is an historic hotel in the very heart of Salzburg. Location is so convenient, you can reach all the city center. It's located in the pedestrian area so it's a little difficult to reach it by car but the hotel staff is very helpful so no problem at all. Room was old fashioned, small and not so beautiful but it's easy to understand given the historic profile of the hotel. However all you can need is available in the room. A couple of water bottles as welcoming gift and some amenities in the ... Read more

This hotel is situated across the river from the old city of Salzburg in the pedestrian precinct. The location makes it ideal for sightseeing as everything is within walking distance. The hotel is also a listed building which maintains its old world charms but lacks modern facilities like air conditioning and spa facilities. The room are quite good but stuffy. The staff are excellent and very helpful which in part make up for the downside. This is a very noisy hotel with street noise going on un... Read more

The hotel is on the edge of the old town area and is well positioned. Very interesting old hotel with the building dating back to the 1350,s. Room was comfortable and large enough for sitting and luggage . The bathroom was fine although the shower a little small. There was no airconditioning but where our windows were placed we left them opened all night .The hotel restaurant came highly recommended unfortunately it was closed the 2 days we were there . Breakfast was fine, and the bar area fitte... Read more

Location is right in the thick of things. Staff were friendly and pleasant. Helpful in arranging a cab. Breakfast is a winner with a nice buffet and eggs to order. Rooms were traditional, but clean and comfy. Highly recommend this spot for your time in Salzburg.

The owner/manager was very accommodating and nice when we arrived early from the train and allowed us to check in to our room before official check in time. The room was quiet, clean, and had a lovely window we could open onto a small courtyard-ish area. The bathroom was clean and large, and overall the room was a good size. The staff were very helpful with showing us where to go and telling us about local attractions. The breakfast was very good, with many options. It did not have air condition... Read more

Staying at the Hotel Stadtkrug was a wonderful experience. This is a 700-year-old-plus former private home that has been lovingly restored to its original grandeur by the current owner. It was clean and quiet, and we were treated as one of the family. Whether it was tour tickets or a long afternoon in the lounge, the owner and his family were welcoming and accommodating. A family member is on the property at all times. We even decided to stay an extra night, which was not a problem. They e... Read more

This is a hotel housed in an old building within the pedestrian area. As it is off-limits for traffic, it is difficult to get close to the hotel by car. At check-in, we were told that if we had called in advance they could have supplied a pin-code for the electronic barrier, but at that time we had already circled the area trying to get in and finally headed to a parking garage from which we had to carry our luggage (it was raining). The building is old and it smelled a little damp in the recept... Read more

Recently we visited Salzburg and spent a few nights at the Hotel Stadtkrug. We found the service friendly and efficient, the rooms clean and comfortable. The breakfasts were excellent and served from seven until eleven catering for almost every start to the day. Overall we would have no hesitation in recommending it.It is well located for seeing the sights of Salzburg being very central and close to the river. The one negative was that the curtains were too light to keep out much of the light. ... Read more

If you're driving here, as we were, it isn't the easiest hotel to find as it is on a pedestrianised street, but we had the wonderful Gunther on the end of the phone patiently directing us. To be fair, had we had time to read through the email we'd had when we booked, we wouldn't have had the problem! But the service continued to be impeccable throughout our stay, both at the reception, in the bar, in the dining room and at breakfast. We were only able to stay one night and, although we would ... We stayed one night at this historic hotel. We found our room very clean and bedding comfortable. It was our first night in Europe and had a wonderful rest at the hotel. Had dinner at the restaurant which was most delicious and breakfast was great too. The location was excellent and we really love the charming neighbourhood - our young son befriended with the greengrocer cum chocolatier shop next door and the countless cafes suited me perfectly. There is a water jet in the side alley which prov... Read more

The Stadtkrug feels as if it's been hewn from rock, as much of Salzburg has been, and although the style isn't Neolithic or troglodytic you can't help feeling it's a little outmoded stylistically and in terms of comfort and technology. Heavy carpets and dark brown furniture abound. My tiny single 'cupboard' room was claustrophobic and lacked air-conditioning. It was festival time so the price seemed high. Perhaps at other times of the year the price/value ratio is better. All this said, staff we... Read more

A pleasant place, fine for the two nights we stayed in Salzburg. Our room on the 2nd floor and was cozy but with a good sized bathroom. Breakfast was nice. Perfect location to get everywhere by walking (easy walk across the water to the old town; we even walked up the hotel from the train station - 15/20 minutes or so but we took the bus back when leaving). They had a livecam of their livestock at the farm out of town on a screen in the entrance. Nice original touch! And the paintings on the e... Read more

This is a very characterful, traditional Austrian hotel in an excellent location. It is free of traffic noise, being on a pedestrianised street within walking distance of Salzburg's major attractions. Our room was a good size, with modern ensuite facilities, and everything was spotlessly clean. There are comfy seating areas on the landings, and a really lovely terrace bar at the top back of the building - so peaceful you would never know you were in the heart of a city. The food was very nicely ... Read more

Very nice old , clean welcoming hotel. We met Hugo who is the owner, very nice man, nothing is too much to ask him. Hotel is very central, and rooms are large with lots of nice toiletries . Breakfast is great, nothing cooked but quality food, today for breakfast we had fresh fruit salad, smoked salmon, with fresh boiled eggs, lots of other fruits to peel, and various fresh breads, and lots more . All in all we are very satisfied with the choice Riviera Travel chose

We stayed here for three nights as part of a Riviera holiday. The hotel is well located in the pedestrianised area across the river from the old town and is at least 150 yds from the nearest drop off point. Great place, excellent staff, perfect location. When we found ourselves in a bind, they went above and beyond to resolve our problem in ways we never would have expected. The food was beyond expectation. The atmosphere was welcoming and inviting. The location is spectacular--walking distance to the castle, the bus/train station, Mozart, Mirabell, and St. Sebastain. Can be loud if your room is by the street, but easy to let go when you've had such exceptional service and access.

Great location, big room, varied breakfast choices, but rooms are very warm in hot weather due to poor air circulation. I would stay here again just because of the location, but staff is not overly friendly either.
