This is definitely one of the best experiences and most beautiful hotels that we stayed. This wonderful hotel is located in the a small street in the heart of the old town and it's an easy walk around all of the sights. The hotel is a small hotel with 16 rooms in an old building that was recently renovated. From our arrival we were nicely greeted and welcomed, we received a nice arrival gift box (with a city map, good chocolate and....) were then taken to our room. Room 22 is a very nice a... Read more

We received such a warm and personal welcome to this delightful hotel by Ulrike! She immediately made us feel at home in this quirky and unique hotel. The rooms are standard size for Europe but beautiful appointed. The position is perfect - within walking distance to all the highlights Salzburg has to offer. Breakfast is served in the delightfully warm dining room by friendly staff happy to offer advice and meet every need. We cannot rev mend this hotel enough - a thoroughly delightful 3 night... This hotel is a little gem. Set in the beautiful City of Salzburg and away from any cars or traffic you will be greeted by the most amazing front of house that immediately makes you feel special. The rooms were very clean and modern. The breakfast was delicious and the surroundings modern with a traditional twist. I think this is one of the best places we have ever stayed.

I loved the Salzburg Festival theme of this SLH, designed by Daniela Satta and underpinned by full scale photographs by the Italian Luigi Caputo. This hotel is a strong example of the way Italian and Austrian culture have met and mingled over the centuries, and a testament to how well that relationship works. In the Gastoff Goldgasse restaurant, the catch of the day proposed by Chef Philippe Sommersperger on Himalayan salt blocks is a no-miss; and after a late-night opera, one can count on the r... We arrived at the hotel on a miserable rainy day and were welcomed with hot flannels to freshen up and a gift box with the best chocolate (you can buy this in the town from Berger). Our room was available before checkin which was even better! The hotel was faultless. Lovely themed rooms which were clean and fresh. We ate in the restaurant one evening and the food was amazing! All the staff made us feel welcome and had a good understanding of the English language. The location of the hotel i... Read more

What a great place to stay. The perfect location surrounded by the old town and quiet. The hotel is small but beautifully renovated and very interesting in design. Our room was huge with a sitting room attached including a mini kitchen with a selection of drinks. Bathroom designed for a lady, great lighting and spacious with a good shower. You do need a degree in engineering to work the tap and shower but worth the patience. Loved the design features. Did not do breakfast as we thought it expens... Read more

I booked hotel Goldgasse for the closeness to the race start of the Mozart 100 ultra marathon. Upon arrival we were greeted by a very nice and funny lady at reception. Very helpful and friendly all round, our room wasn't quite ready due to our early arrival, so we had a mooch around to get our bearings. After our first strudel and Stiegl beer we got back to the hotel. Bags had already been taken to our room and a nice little greeting box which included some mints and a decent map of Salzburg. Th... We stayed at the Hotel Goldgasse due to its location close to Residenplatz as my boyfriend was running in the Mozart 100 event and it began from there. Even before we arrived, the hotel were extremely accommodating regarding his requests for an early (4am!) breakfast before the race. On our arrival, we knew our room wouldn't be ready as we had arrived in Salzburg on an early flight. However, the member of staff on reception welcomed us and took down my boyfriend's breakfast choice. We went for a... Read more

Small hotel with the best location in the city. My room was big enough, bed comfortable, bathroom tidy. Benefit - great view of the city from my room. Staff helpful. This is definitely best hotel I have stayed in Salzburg during my business trips.

My husband and I stayed at Hotel Goldgasse for four nights, renting the penthouse apartment. Upon our arrival, we were greeted by the charming and enthusiastic Ulrike, the Hotel Manager. Ulrike is an absolute delight and contributed greatly to making our stay absolutely wonderful. Our room was quite spacious, with a nice size bathroom and we had a private rooftop terrace with views of the fortress. Hotel Goldgasse is very conveniently located to everything in the Alstaadt (old town), tho it can ... Read more

This was really such a cool, and stylish hotel! Very comfortable, with really nice touches like Nespresso coffee makers and several jars of loose leaf tea to try! Every room is decorated differently. We ended up staying in two different rooms due to a small reservation snafu, and both were equally delightful, though I will say that the Rooftop Suite where we stayed for the majority of our stay was just to die for. Ascend a spiral staircase from your room, through the window at the top and yo... Read more

We fell in love with Salzburg the moment we arrived, and the warm and friendly welcome we received from the lady on reception just made us love the place even more. Everything about this little gem of a hotel is perfect, from the friendly staff, the quirky original room decor, the excellent food and the location right in the heart of the old town. We shared a little balcony on the fourth floor, which was a lovely place to sit with a glass of wine after a busy day. Two days wasn't long enough at ... Read more

Charming hotel in centre of Altstadt. Great location on idyllic street. Very welcoming hotel manager Ulrike. Hot towel and cold mint water nice touch on arrival. Room was spacious with cool vibe. Nice patio off room. No AC but fan was adequate to keep us comfortable. Breakfast waitress very friendly (didn't get her name) We would love to come back and would definitely recommend.

This is the second time here and this year we stayed 10 days and loved every moment. The hotel has only 10 rooms and they are modern, clean & functional and the use of large photographic themes from classical musical productions on one or two walls gives a fun and relevant theme - it is after all a very musical town! The hotel has a great restaurant with an inside room and outside area on the street which is an added benefit. Ulrika who runs the hotel is a wonderful bonus as there is nothing s... Read more

The service at this hotel was outstanding -- very welcoming! It is a very small hotel located on a charming alley amidst cute shops and very near the center of the old town. All the main sites were only a short walk from the hotel. The room was very spacious with a separate seating area, tea, coffee, and a mini-bar. The hotel is not air-conditioned but the temperature was comfortable even during warm weather in July. The fan in the room and open windows provided a cool breeze, especially at ... Read more

We spent three nights here - the location in the old town is terrific. You will be dropped off in the square and have to walk down the little street to the hotel but it is not far. The reception is on the first floor. There is a lift. We had a room on the fourth floor. It was lovely with all the opera photographs on the walls. We had access to a small balcony. There is a mini bar with the first round of soft drinks free. Good desk area and wardrobe space. Nice modern bathroom with a shower. On... Read more

In the middle of a small historic alleyway (taxi only can get you close and then the driver points up a narrow passage) in a ancient building with narrow stone stairs and tiny doorways resides the ultra modern boutique Hotel Goldgasse. Goldgasse is a street used for centuries by merchants in the midst of Old Town, a perfect location for your visit to Salzburg, steps away from most of the sights and sounds. One side of the small entrance leads to the hotel's restaurant, the other to a tiny lift... Read more

I endorse all of the wonderful things other reviewers have said about Hotel Goldgasse, but just want to add that they excel in something that even the best of the 5-star hotels often lack: genuine, warm hospitality. My daughter and I walked in late after a long train trip from Geneva, and the concierge acted as if he had been waiting all day just for us. Our room at the top with private access to the patio was amazing, but the second welcome we received at the Goldgasse restaurant was even mo... Read more

Checked out on July 30 of Hotel Goldgasse that is well located in the old town of beautiful Salzburg. Hotel staff most polite however I wouldn't recommend this hotel during the summer months as the hotel room was too hot to sleep at night, even with a small fan and far too noisy with the windows open as there is a restaurant below. We moved rooms but still no different. Far too expensive and wouldn't stay here again.

First you are greeted by this lovely lady- (forgot her name). She makes you feel welcome and brightens your day. She gives you a welcome gift which is a nice box with a welcome letter and some candy inside. The reception is on the first floor, on the ground floor is the restaurant. The room is beautiful and has some quirky features like the shower and the faucets. It is very quaint. It has no air conditioning but we did not feel warm at all. It gets a little noisy though since you can hear conve... Read more

We loved our stay at Goldgasse. I stayed with a friend for 2 nights. It is truly a luxury hotel with quality amenities. The restaurant downstairs is excellent- it was our fanciest dinner while traveling, but worth it! We were the only Americans in the restaurant. The lovely woman who is there almost every day is exceptional and will make your stay and visits to surrounding areas the best possible. We spent 4 days in Salzburg while attending the Salzburg Music Festival. It was important for us to have comfortable, quiet hotel in a good location for walking to the concerts. The Goldgasse hotel did all of that and then some. We found the double room to be very well furnished with a lot of room and a magnificent large bathroom.
