Good standard hotel rooms and overlooking the lake. Best day was borrowing a hotel bicycle and cycling around Salzburg which is very bike friendly. Breakfast in the Schloss was a treat but Schloss and grounds a bit lacking in maintenance.

A great choice to take some time off and relax, the hotel was very nice, quiet and clean with a beautiful garden and a breathtaking lake. If you're fond of old palaces and history, you can take a round in the amazing leopard palace right after you have your breakfast in the palace's ballroom. That was an absolutely amazing experience. The only downside was that the hotel didn't have an AC, but they do provide a small fan instead. Lucky us, the weather was still a bit chilly so we could keep the... Read more

If you like The Sound of Music, this is the hotel you want to stay at. The grounds and the lake are beautiful, and walking around you'll recognize many of the outdoor scenes from the movie. The hotel itself is quiet spectacular, breakfast buffet is outstanding, and my room was very comfortable.

We stayed for three nights in a suite in the main building. Well worth the extra money. Walk outside to some wonderful views and memories of Sound of Music. Go for a walk in the lovely garden or have a look through the palace. There are some beautiful rooms here. Its a little out of the main city centre but taxis are reasonably priced. So glad we stayed here. I will remember this place with great fondness always. Beautiful scenery just outside the door with the lake and the mountains.

Stand on the opposite side of the lake from the Hotel and you are looking at one of Europe's greatest views. The movie 'The Sound of Music' used the backyard between the lake and the Schloss. You can park down the street from the lake and walk up. There is a path around the lake.

The best way to experience the city is by taking a bike tour. Enjoyed the strenuous climb to the castle/palace overlooking the city. We loved our stay at The Schloss and had fun viewing the very sites we love from The Sound of Music right on hotel property. Still thinking about the delicious breakfast served each morning.

We stayed in a suite in the actual Palace. It was quite stunning! We overlooked the lake and mountain, made special for me as I'm a Sound of Music fan, and the horse statues have been replicated as the old ones had crumbled. The rooms were huge, very majestic, although not luxurious (would have liked nice toiletries and fluffier towels). I really felt spoilt, especially as my husband had arranged beautiful flowers and bubbles! The other rooms were open to browse, it felt like your own stately ho... Read more

We stayed in a superior suite in the main palace overlooking the lake. This is a remarkable mansion similar to many stately homes that you might pay to visit anywhere in Europe. However, here you can stay and wander around most of the rooms as it really is a living stately home. As it is closed to the public, it is nice that there are no tourists milling around. For the price, I would however, expect a higher standard in the rooms. For example the shower temperature was very hard to adjust and ... Read more

Beautiful surroundings, incredible scenery and impeccable taste. You feel in a time capsule in these beautiful baroque rooms filled with original furniture and paintings. I would stay there again in a heartbeat.

We stayed 3 nights here, it was a great experience. The "Schloss" itself was truly amazing, and made the stay worthwhile. The regular guest rooms in the next door building were somewhat average, to be honest. But, having access to the schloss property, eating breakfast in that gorgeous dining room, relaxing in the library, and hanging out on the back terrace with a bottle of wine with that gorgeous view were second to none. We are really glad we stayed here. It is a memory we will treasure. The ... Read more
