. Me and my wife had just traveled all the way from Adelaide to explore the beautiful city of Sydney, and we were desperately in need of a place, and boy did The Oaks deliver. The room gave us a unique element of surprise that really did feel like a sweet dream. From the crisp clean carpet, to the bellowing view from the afternoon. Everything went like a smooth sail. A 5 star rating is an understatement to be honest. It was perfect.

This hotel is located in a convenient location for work (Town hall). I stayed in this hotel for 3 days and night, the room service was exemplary. Customer service was one of the best I have seen, I was checked into my room within minutes and I was able to rest well before my meeting. The room was neat and tidy along with the bathroom. I believe this hotel will give you most satisfaction for your money. I definitely recommend it.

Absolutely amazing place to stay, comfort at its finest. The help were incredible, everything was extremely clean, and me and my family absolutely loved every moment staying there. Nothing was disappointing.

Great Place! Quite near to the trains. Easily to walk around. Neighborhood is pleasant and nice. However only one service staff at the hotel lobby, therefore waiting time is long just to ask some questions. Service staff is friendly and nice.

If you're planning a trip to Sydney and crave centrality to everything then I highly recommend Oaks Hyde Park Plaza. You don't even have to catch a taxi from the airport as the train from the Sydney Airport (approx $17, which is xheaper than a taxi which might easily set you back $30-$50) stops at Museum station which is a 2 min walk to the hotel - it couldn't be easier. From here, the hotel is right on hyde park and within walking distance to the CBD and Oxford Street Darlinghurst (handy for ga... Read more

I had a very good overall experience at this hotel. I requested park view room and got it!! I loved the view from the room.. Though could be noisy. Shopping and all big malls walking distance only Sad I could not use roof top pool due to weather All staff were very friendly and efficient..

I stayed here recently and it is in a great, central location. Compared to other hotels nearby, it is also very reasonably priced. My room was spacious, and the sheets and towels were pristine, and good quality. However, the room itself is old and tired. Carpets and sofas are stained, walls are chipped, kitchen doors and drawers and lose and not closing properly. It really needs a major renovation. I loved that there is a kitchen, especially as there is no breakfast service. I liked the security... Read more

This apartment and studio with kitchenette and sofa hotel is centrally located. Ask for a room with a patio but request a level higher than level 3. Room was refurbished but because of the level we were on and in the corner of the building required the light on at all times. Generally comfortable and walking distance to grocery shopping. I was there for 2 nights and my husband for 5 nights.

Have just ended our 2 night stay and I have to say the reception staff were one of the most unhelpful and unfriendly I've come across. We also booked online as an eclub member and got the better prices. Booked for 3 adults and received confirmation on price for 3 adults. On arrival we were charged a much higher price and when we showed reception our booking confirmation she was a bit slow to work it out. She then agreed that she'd put through a credit for the difference and when we check out a... Read more

We stayed in the Oaks Hyde Park Plaza in June and were extremely happy with the location and service. Knowing little about Sydney both the girls at the front desk were helpful and pointed us in the right direction. Often times they went the extra mile and called in reservations for dinner or touristic attractions for us. At the end of the day we would all definitely stay here again.

Stayed here for three nights and the location was spot on . Right opposite Hyde Park which is close to many tourist venues. The museum train station is a very short walk so then you're able to travel basically anywhere without needing to drive in the crazy Sydney traffic . There is an onsite Thai restaurant which serves reasonably priced meals , eat in or take away . Just around the corner ( approx 50 mtr walk at most) is an IGA that stocks pretty much everything as well as a Priceline Chemist a... Read more

My husband and I have stayed at this hotel several times over the years under different management and have returned because of its great location .We last stayed in October 2015. It was a marvellous experience .Our room had been recently refurbished and was spotlessly clean. The room this time was not as clean as it should be and the carpet was filthy. The aged plumbing which knocked viciously when you turned it on was very difficult to adjust to a constant temperature .It looked like someone ha... Impressed by the lobby, but it stopped there. What is that sound coming from the hydrant room at 3am in the morning? Had to walk to the reception to let them know.. and it came back on at 5am again for 1hr. Nobody bothered to check on it..

I recently stayed in a one bedroom apartment in June 2016 and compared to other hotels nearby, it is very reasonably priced and presentable. My room was spacious, the carpets and surfaces were pristine. Linen and towels were clean and good quality. The location and view was spot on - right opposite Hyde Park. For tourists especially, Oaks is close to many tourist venues and a stones throw from Museum train station and no struggle for getting a bus or taxi. Staff were helpful with knowledge of ... Great location if central city s where you need to be (like we needed to be) The elevators can take a while to move between floors, and the parking is tight for anything above a go cart size...but still doable. The room itself is simple yet clean and has everything you need. It was a little noisy of a night being right across from Hyde Park, and there is a bit of light that comes in the room. Shops are close by to stock the full sized fridge and everything works well.

The Oaks is a bit odd. It seems to be part serviced apartment and part residential. Perhaps that explains the strange people who seem to be somewhat irritated by the newly-arrived travelers. The corridors were an off-white tunnel of strange noises coming from behind closed doors. Anyway, the apartment was a reasonable size with an acceptable kitchen area. The place was tired and old though. For example the window latch was broken. A bit odd I thought given that we are umpteen storeys high and so... Read more

I recently had a booking at the Oaks but when our team arrived only two of the four of us could stay. The first receptionist cited water damage as the issue but the second receptionist we spoke to agreed that they'd overbooked the hotel. We were eventually given another room at their sister property (Oaks on Castlereigh) which is a run down large apartment building with broken fittings (the toilet seat was unusable) and highly unfriendly staff. BUT the biggest problem with the Oaks on Hyde is th... Read more

This hotel really falls between chairs. We booked a "4*" refurbished room thinking that most of the negative issues mentioned in other reviews must have been for non-refurbished rooms. If our room had indeed been refurbished it was an appalling job. I could have done a much better job of the painting than whoever had done that. There were water stains around the air conditioner unit, the floor hadn't been vacuumed and the surface were dirty. The bathtub was old and stained, the tiles were... Read more

First impression was the slightly off stale smell in the room which cleared after opening a window. Overall it was a very rundown two bedroom apartment. I understand some of the rooms have been refurbished but this certainly wasn't one of them. The beds were on castors and trying to sit up in bed resulted in the bed sliding away from the wall! The blanket in the bedroom cupboard had a nasty chemical smell like sweet vomit. The bathroom was rather small for four people, more like a modest ensui... Read more

Stayed in 2 bedroom apartment (4 single beds) with work colleagues - 4 females sharing one TINY central bathroom for 2 nights! Nicely updated kitchen, spacious lounge room with magnificent view over the Cenotaph in Hyde Park, comfortable beds (only 1 thin pillow per bed though) but the smallest bathroom I've ever come across in a hotel - smaller even than on a cruise ship! Only about 1sqm of space to stand to dry off after a shower, and that was where your feet are when sitting on the toilet! T... Read more

We stayed a week in an apartment on the 9th floor overlooking Hyde Park. This view was captivating. The apartment had 2 bedrooms, a well supplied bathroom/toilet, a sitting area and a well supplied kitchenette. The Oxford Street area had supermarkets, restaurants and bus routes that satisfied our needs. The staff at this establishment were most amiable. The weather wasn't conducive to us7ng gym or outdoor pools. We will be back when the weather is warmer

Stayed 4 nights with family in a 2 bedroom apartment. Service was good on check-in, including organisation of a fold away bed for 3rd child & a car park for car which had been omitted from booking. Reasonable spacious rooms with comfortable beds, hotel in a good location with easy walking access to the CBD, Hyde Park & Oxford St precincts. Car park entrance one of the tightest fits I've seen, a challenge to park a large car / SUV! Room rate not considered cheap (>$400 per night with extra fo... Read more

Stayed here for the weekend of City2Surf. Was perfect location; right at the blue start zone. Studio apartment was extremely spacious with a decent kitchen. Staff were friendly and helpful. I didn't have time to check out the gym or pool but if I stayed again I would venture upstairs to try them out. Great view of Hyde Park from my room as well. Would definitely stay here again.

We stayed here the night before, & the night we returned from our overseas holiday. We travelled to & from the airport by train, and as the hotel is only a few minutes walk from Museum station (lots of stairs), it is very convenient. Instead of just a hotel room, we were given a unit - 2 bedrooms, lounge/dining room and a kitchen area. The bathroom was a reasonable size. Very comfortable bed. Free Wifi for only 30 minutes per day.
