. Me and my wife had just traveled all the way from Adelaide to explore the beautiful city of Sydney, and we were desperately in need of a place, and boy did The Oaks deliver. The room gave us a unique element of surprise that really did feel like a sweet dream. From the crisp clean carpet, to the bellowing view from the afternoon. Everything went like a smooth sail. A 5 star rating is an understatement to be honest. It was perfect.

This hotel is located in a convenient location for work (Town hall). I stayed in this hotel for 3 days and night, the room service was exemplary. Customer service was one of the best I have seen, I was checked into my room within minutes and I was able to rest well before my meeting. The room was neat and tidy along with the bathroom. I believe this hotel will give you most satisfaction for your money. I definitely recommend it.

If you're planning a trip to Sydney and crave centrality to everything then I highly recommend Oaks Hyde Park Plaza. You don't even have to catch a taxi from the airport as the train from the Sydney Airport (approx $17, which is xheaper than a taxi which might easily set you back $30-$50) stops at Museum station which is a 2 min walk to the hotel - it couldn't be easier. From here, the hotel is right on hyde park and within walking distance to the CBD and Oxford Street Darlinghurst (handy for ga... Read more

I stayed here recently and it is in a great, central location. Compared to other hotels nearby, it is also very reasonably priced. My room was spacious, and the sheets and towels were pristine, and good quality. However, the room itself is old and tired. Carpets and sofas are stained, walls are chipped, kitchen doors and drawers and lose and not closing properly. It really needs a major renovation. I loved that there is a kitchen, especially as there is no breakfast service. I liked the security... Read more

This apartment and studio with kitchenette and sofa hotel is centrally located. Ask for a room with a patio but request a level higher than level 3. Room was refurbished but because of the level we were on and in the corner of the building required the light on at all times. Generally comfortable and walking distance to grocery shopping. I was there for 2 nights and my husband for 5 nights.

Have just ended our 2 night stay and I have to say the reception staff were one of the most unhelpful and unfriendly I've come across. We also booked online as an eclub member and got the better prices. Booked for 3 adults and received confirmation on price for 3 adults. On arrival we were charged a much higher price and when we showed reception our booking confirmation she was a bit slow to work it out. She then agreed that she'd put through a credit for the difference and when we check out a... Read more

We stayed in the Oaks Hyde Park Plaza in June and were extremely happy with the location and service. Knowing little about Sydney both the girls at the front desk were helpful and pointed us in the right direction. Often times they went the extra mile and called in reservations for dinner or touristic attractions for us. At the end of the day we would all definitely stay here again.

Stayed here for three nights and the location was spot on . Right opposite Hyde Park which is close to many tourist venues. The museum train station is a very short walk so then you're able to travel basically anywhere without needing to drive in the crazy Sydney traffic . There is an onsite Thai restaurant which serves reasonably priced meals , eat in or take away . Just around the corner ( approx 50 mtr walk at most) is an IGA that stocks pretty much everything as well as a Priceline Chemist a... Read more

Great location if central city s where you need to be (like we needed to be) The elevators can take a while to move between floors, and the parking is tight for anything above a go cart size...but still doable. The room itself is simple yet clean and has everything you need. It was a little noisy of a night being right across from Hyde Park, and there is a bit of light that comes in the room. Shops are close by to stock the full sized fridge and everything works well.

The Oaks is a bit odd. It seems to be part serviced apartment and part residential. Perhaps that explains the strange people who seem to be somewhat irritated by the newly-arrived travelers. The corridors were an off-white tunnel of strange noises coming from behind closed doors. Anyway, the apartment was a reasonable size with an acceptable kitchen area. The place was tired and old though. For example the window latch was broken. A bit odd I thought given that we are umpteen storeys high and so... Read more

I recently had a booking at the Oaks but when our team arrived only two of the four of us could stay. The first receptionist cited water damage as the issue but the second receptionist we spoke to agreed that they'd overbooked the hotel. This hotel really falls between chairs. We booked a "4*" refurbished room thinking that most of the negative issues mentioned in other reviews must have been for non-refurbished rooms. If our room had indeed been refurbished it was an appalling job. I could have done a much better job of the painting than whoever had done that. First impression was the slightly off stale smell in the room which cleared after opening a window. Overall it was a very rundown two bedroom apartment. I understand some of the rooms have been refurbished but this certainly wasn't one of them. The beds were on castors and trying to sit up in bed resulted in the bed sliding away from the wall! We travelled to & from the airport by train, and as the hotel is only a few minutes walk from Museum station (lots of stairs), it is very convenient. Rooms are a bit dated, but, clean, basic, and adequate, I stayed in a studio room on the 8th floor which has basic kitchen facilities, and a small balcony. Bathrooms are very dated, and in need of an upgrade, but clean. If you choose to stay at this hotel, and you are a person who cannot sleep with noise, please request a qu... Read more

All in all, Oaks Hyde Park Plaza was a nice place to stay at. It is conveniently located minutes walk from Museum Station. It is also very close to a local supermarket, Priceline, BWS and fast food strip just around the corner. Unfortunately, we got given one of the 'non-refurbished rooms' which is fine, but also bittersweet knowing we had paid almost $300 per night for what we got, whilst someone else has paid exactly the same but gained a brand new refurbished room instead. I feel as though th... Read more

My wife and I have been staying at this accommodation, when in Sydney, for the last ten years and have always enjoyed our stay. Since our last visit the foyer has been fully refurbished and the older lifts have been replaced with new shiny models. The staff are always friendly and helpful and the view over the city at night is wonderful. Mind you the rooms overlooking Hyde Park are quite noisy. Our kitchen was functional with a hot plate, microwave and an oven. However, the oven had a control... Read more

A friend and I stayed here for 3 nights on a girls weekend. I was very pleasantly surprised when I walked into the room. For a start it was a decent size, had a very nice full kitchen, modern bathroom and the room was very clean. There wasn't ANY traffic noise whatsoever and apart from a group of rowdy party people the first night, the place was very very quiet. The room was made up exceptionally well the first day, but on the second I feel the housemaid was maybe having a bad day. I ha... Read more

Excellent location. Terrific room. Superb service. We found this one through booking.com and after booking, we read some online reviews and regretted our decision. We were not sure what to expect. On arrival - we were PLEASANTLY surprised by the immaculate foyer and reception. The service was fabulous, considering we had gotten such a bargain on the price. On entering the room! OH BOY! were we delighted to see the clean, neat, modern and clearly newly designed studio. I had previously stay... Read more

If it were possible to give this hotel -5 stars... I would! The most absolutely disgusting room. There was mould on top of mould. I was scared to touch anything because of fear of catching an illness. This is not an exaggeration. I didn't realise that hotels this bad existed in Australia. I've never in my life seen anything as old, outdated or as covered in mould than this room. To add insult to injury when I went to use the bathroom the following morning I discovered the bathroom had not bee... Read more

Staff were friendly and efficient in fixing the bed into a twin (this information seemed to be a lost in the booking). Rooms are a very good size with a fully equipped kitchenette. Ask for more detergent so you can hand-wash the dishes as you need to use them. There are not enough dishes to fill the dishwasher. Cutting knives need to be sharp and one for bread would have been great as Sydney have great bread artisans. Our room had a very noisy shower which I reported, so I hope the hotel is a... Read more

Stayed first week of October! From the outside it looks modern and smart! Arrived to be politely greeted by reception and given the option to store our bags as we were early for check in which was good!! Our room wasn't quite like the pictures & have to be honest was a little let down. Quite run down and in need of a do over! I'm lead to believe some rooms are refurbished but ours wasn't one of them! But if you want a good location for central Sydney at a cheapish rate and nothing to posh then t... Read more

I have just returned from 3.5 days in Sydney, personally I could not fault the room, nice kitchenette, living space, patio, bathroom and bedroom. I did have an issue with the air conditioner in the living room area last night, which I reported to reception upon check out this morning. Now how ever the spa area is desperate need of work, there are cracks all over it, missing tiles, the wooden floor area around it has giving away in some areas close to the spa on the Navy base side, and the tempe... Stayed a week , beginning of November , close to many stores and the beautiful Hyde Park , not far from Darling Harbourg and the Opera House . From outside the hotel looks modern , the lobby is quiet good and the welcoming was correct and friendly , the room was big and spacious with a nice view on the town , but it was very very old style , this hotel must absolutely be renovated

Room was ok, no information on what the hotel had to offer, no recommendations for restaurant s. Furniture falling apart, spa needs repairs. As I said the location is the only reason to stay. MD Thai within the hotel is the worst Thai I've ever experienced.

Stayed in a 4 ?? apartment. Generous sized rooms, some need updating. Great if you want to cook on your own, or just like your space. Recommend asking for a room with a view as ours (714) had a balcony looking over the windows of other apartments and didn't have much privacy. Hotel staff were happy to help if there were any issues. Around 15-20 min walk from circular key, but so close to museum train station and many great restaurants around. A much less pretentious area of Sydney, great f... Read more

On arrival the hotel claimed they had no booking for us even though we had printed confirmation. We were a group booking with 8 rooms and they were 2 short . They couldn't find trundle beds either for us to share rooms with our colleagues . Eventually after intervention by our travel agent they found a 2 bed apt that was booked for someone else.they decided it was easier to bump that party than our large group. Rooms smelly with damp and had cheap and quick makeovers . No breakfast avail . Not i... Read more

Stayed 4 nights for a work trip. My room was recently renovated, clean and very comfortable. Plenty of room and good kitchenette which had everything I needed. It was very pleasant walking into the foyer each day to the nice perfume smell. Well positioned and good rates.

Stayed here last night with 2 others. A large 2 bedroom apartment overlooking Hyde Park. Apartment spacious and clean with a great view but is very tired and needs a refurbishment, especially the bathroom. Moldy tiles, filthy air vent above shower in ceiling, dirty walls, rusty hinges on bathroom door etc etc For $500 I found this accomodation very overpriced. Would not stay here again.

we wanted a sub $200 hotel room close to cbd and trains in Sydney for 5 nights, and this hotel seemed the best sized room away from noise of most of the other establishments listed at this price. reception was friendly and fast, room a good size with adequate cooking facilities. we did not have a balcony or microwave listed as "in some rooms" . requests for extra towels and pillows were sent up straight away. cleaners excellent. the hotel is e few hundred metres from museum rail station so t... We we stayed in a twin room on the 15th level looking towards Hyde Park. Great view of the city and park. But that is about it. Whilst we knew we were in the 3 star room, for what we paid, it could have been better. The curtains didn't match and were too short, a portion above one single bed looked like it would collapse and he air con was noisy. For this room and the ones near it, you had your own little balance, which was great, but we weren't too keen to walk out there as it had some wood fal... Read more
