Haven't stayed at the Intercontinental in Sydney's fashionable Double Bay for years...last time it was a Ritz Carlton. Since then it's undergone an extensive renovation which has brought it up to date...you could almost smell the fresh paint. This time I had to go to Sydney to speak at a conference at the hotel so it seemed logical to stay there. Nicely furnished and equipped good sized rooms, friendly staff at check in, and, to my surprise a nice view from the room even though I couldn't get a ... Read more

Only stayed one night during a business conference in a twin room facing the main street. The room was comfortable. Despite expensive marble finishes in the bathroom, there were damaged tiles and plaster - just cosmetic really - and bathroom itself was functional, not luxurious - okay for my purposes, though. The room was of ample size - didn't feel too crowded. Wouldn't come for the views - could only see the tops of buildings on the other side of the street from my room and the balconies of th... I came for a business meeting and found my new favourite hotel in Sydney. Everything in my opinion and for me was just right - there were plenty other equally pleased to be staying, everyone I saw in fact, but probably not so many appeared to be on a business mission as I was. My room was on 5th floor overlooking Sydney Harbour with a balcony. The king sized bed was extremely comfortable as was the room and generous bathroom with separate toilet - nice touches abound everywhere you look. A lot ... Read more

Housekeeping: Immaculately clean, flexible, lovely turndown service with ample complimentary bottled water. Staff and Service: The best of the best. Such a great stay. The hotel staff were very friendly and accommodating. The room was fabulous - I love the fact that there were 2 double beds (normally its always a double and a single) and that the room had a balcony. Loved all the mod cons like the buttons to open/close the curtains and turn all the lights off from one panel. Beautiful decor and super comfy beds. Rude bellboys. My driver accidentally pulled in the wrong way as you are in the left lane driving and the hotel is on the left but you're meant to loop around and then turn left and backwards into the drive? He apologised to them when he realised, they had a go at him and then continued to have a go at me and my driver jokingly said to them is this what happens when someone enters the driveway the wrong way? A lady is yelled at and expected to get her own bags? Just plain rude. My interactions... Read more

The Intercon Double Bay is easily one of the best hotels in Sydney, and is a great example of the brand. The location is great, just out of the CBD enough to be relaxing yet with great access via ferry, bus, train or uber. The Hotel is tastefully remodelled, very quiet and the upstairs pool and bar in summer is probably the best available in Sydney at the minute. This hotel is my standing recommendation for visitors to Sydney.

This newly renovated, gorgeously appointed hotel is very well situated in Double Bay. The room I had was luxurious, large, comfortable with a sizeable balcony with view on the bay. The spa-like bathroom is sheer joy after a long flight. The staff were efficient and friendly. The rooftop pool and terrace is comfortable and very scenic. A good place to relax. A small, easily solved problem: driving up to the front door, one has to cross the street to access the driveway. If they changed the dir... Read more

Booked 2 rooms to visit my son who was stopping by in Aus for a week, I have spent a total of 5 nights which I have to say has been excellent , from the moment we arrived concierge was welcoming and helpful promptly taking our bags and directing us to reception, there we were greeted warmly and promptly checked in, not only did we get interconnecting rooms they put us on the same floor as our son which we thought was very thoughtful. The rooms were clean and elegantly modern, the beds and pillow... Read more

The Rooftop views are wonderful but the experience is not supported by the service or the list if wines and beers. Service was very slow. Wines were low grade but still cost $16 per 100ml glass. The beer list was disappointing. There is no excuse to serve mass produced beer when Sydney is awash with spectaclar craft beer. The Stockman restaurant has a better level of service but the food lacks imagination and flavour. Again the wine and beer list is second rate and charged at premium prices. O... Read more

Stayed here for three nights in august for a conference. Great sized rooms, awesome breakfast buffet and great Gin bar. Double Bay is circa 3km from the CBD and is a very affluent area. Heaps of cafes etc and great if you want to be just out of the city and closer to Bondi Beach etc. One random thing was the addition of mature ladies or the night that frequent the bar looking for wealthy old guys. They were there every night. Didn't bother me and in fact found it funny.

With a brand name like Intercontinental, I expected far more. Check-in was slow, only one person at the front desk with many others wandering around aimlessly. Room was small with little wardrobe space and there were no drawers for clothes. For the price being charged the delivery was not very good. Better value hotels elsewhere in Sydney.

Friendly welcome at reception, although early check which had been requested in advance was not quite ready. Roof top pool and bar area was very nice, with great views of Double bay. Service was a little slow but forgiving! Our Room was well appointed and beautifully decorated. Bed was very comfy, pillows excellent. We especially liked the electric curtains. Communal areas were smart, clean and sophisticated. Overall a very pleasant experience.

Our stay at the Intercontinental Double was enjoyable, but unfortunately a few shortfalls have left me lost for words. As for the décor and elegance of the hotel, I don??t think I have much more to add that hasn??t already been said. It is a very classy, tasteful hotel, located in a very nice area in Double Bay. The rooms are very nice, bedding is comfortable, bathrooms are spacious, and the only disappointment was that our iron did not work properly. We were staying for just 1 night to celeb... Read more

Overall a good experience, friendly welcome and service from the Club Intercontinental staff (especially Sothea) and our later checkout was very welcomed. The Double Bay area is relaxed compared to other parts of Sydney with a good variety of restaurants and local shopping a short walk from the hotel. The hotel is well located in this regard, with access to the ferry terminal a short walk away should you wish to go to other parts of Sydney the scenic way. Probably the only thing we didn't like... Had an IHG rewards staycation night at the IC Double Bay and was very much looking forward to it. I mean, have you looked at photos of the rooftop pool?? Amazing!!! And obviously, it's even better in real life. A let down was children splashing, (it's a very small pool for children's shenanigans), jumping, running, playing ball games in the pool. It really takes away from the atmosphere. As a non-parent, I always find myself wishing places like this were adults only. Anyway, I had been reading r... Read more

This place should be placed high atop any list of prospective visitors to Sydney. It ticks all of the boxes- views to die for, exceptional service, well appointed rooms with small details well accounted for. So impressed with this property and wouldn't for a minute hesitate to return. Thank you for a lovely stay!

We essentially booked this hotel because we wanted to stay in Double Bay which is an upmarket suburb near the city centre with loads of good restaurants and accessible to Circular Quay by ferry. The hotel is newish with good rooms. After that it doesnt really have a lot to offer except for being in Double Bay in terms of amenity. The gym is outside and operated separately. The rooftop bar and very small pool has great views but is open to external customers who swamp the place at weekends and ha... Read more
