We stayed here on the last night of trip, and chose it because of its central location. Our room was at the back of the hotel, with a view of the harbour in the distance. It was very quiet and ee managed a good night's sleep. The room was very clean and well appointed, the bed was small (double) but comfortable, and the bathroom was reasonably sized and clean. The reception staff were polite and curt, and the check in was quick and easy. The train station is right next to the hotel, so very conv... Read more

This was a great location central to many activities. First time in Sydney and did the hop on-hop off tour and there is a stop not far from this hotel, so that was a bonus. The staff is very helpful with tourists and suggestions on where to get to what you want to do. We stayed here a few days, then went up to Cairns and were coming back to stay at the same hotel so they let us store luggage here that we didn't need to take with us on our side trip. I stayed here with a friend of mine. Upon arrival our room wasn't ready so I think they may have upgraded us as we got a room with a view of the Harbour Bridge which was pretty amazing, especially at night time. We had a few drinks at the bar here and I also dined here for lunch whilst waiting for my friend to arrive. The guys at the reception are super profession and friendly. We were aiming for the rooms with harbor view, but unfortunately those are doubles only, and since we were staying with kids, we've got a standard room facing Victoria street. Kings Cross metro stop is few steps away from the main entrance, it took us ~35 minutes every day to get to Bondi Beach by using the metro / bus combination. If this is a 4 star rated hotel I'd suggest someone is seeing double & delusional! 3 night stay on business but wouldn't stay here again. Rooms are small, bathroom with a shower in it and a single flush toilet shows this is in need of a make over to bring it in line with the modern day as well as being more environmentally friendly. The carpets look well worn and could do with being replaced also. Good points: Close to everything though Kings Cross might not be the ideal place to be close too.... Read more

It's centrally located which is a boon since one can get out to the city by train very easily. This is a fairly typical Holiday Inn, but it is conveniently located on bus routes and is next door to an underground station. Its location is quiet and away from the hustle and bustle of the harbour area. Some rooms have fabulous view across Sydney to the Opera House and Sydney Harbour Bridge. The Breakfast restaurant area can get very busy. There is a HI in the Harbour area, but it is more expensive and in my opinion not in such a good location, though it is right by the harbour bridge.

The rooms are clean and the location central so perfect for a sleep and go visit but certainly not a place I would stay for more than a night. Rooms are small and ours was rather dated the base rooms have no view really at all. The property itself does not have great facilities and check in is a bit of a nightmare. Also be prepared for them to hold the amount of your stay for another 7 days after you leave as part of a pre authorisation mandatory on check in.

Holiday Inn Potts Point is located in one of the most central places to stay in Sydney. We have been staying here for the past 20 years. The harbour view rooms are fantastic. Rooms have been upgraded a couple of times in the 20 years we have been staying, however the desk and TV cabinet are definitely due for total replacement. Location next to train stations and bus stops means quick access to all major Sydney iconic sites; Bondi, opera house, QVB and downtown Sydney, Rushcutter Bay, Elizabeth ... Read more

We stayed a week in this hotel. The room was very large. The bathroom was big too but the sink counter top could have been bigger. It felt cramped with 3 peoples toiletries on the counter top. The beds were comfortable. The air conditioning wasn't too loud either. There was only power 2 outlet available to plug in my devices and they weren't in very good locations. The fridge was good and kept my drinks nice and cold. I think the staff needs to be better trained. When we arrived in the room th... Read more

As a business traveler, this is not exactly the hotel that caters for businessman. Apart from it being closely convenient to the train station. The room is plain and simple with most of the furniture being quite old and the air con makes a lot of noise when it is on. There are no variety for breakfast and I can confirmed that all my 4 days of breakfast, the food is exactly the same. Lastly, I will like to compliment the front desk staff (Ms Karen Chen) for making my stay as pleasant as possibl... Read more

Stayed at this hotel quite a few times now - it is very well located, convenient, busy, plenty of great bars and restaurants and reasonable walking distance to main Sydney hot spots. The internal feel of this hotel is very tired. The room we had this time was large so no worries with space but was desperately in need of some TLC - drab, plain, dingy, really really tired - disappointing. Didn't use any services internally other than reception where the service is inconsistent to say the least - ... Read more

This is a typical Holiday Inn hotel, modern and accessible. Stayed on their 2 nights "unforgettable moments" package which is excellent value. Staff were very friendly and helpful, parking easy in their basement, meals good value especially the breakfast and little things like made to order omelettes and eggs a nice touch. Rooms with views of the harbour bridge and opera house spectacular and we were fortunate to be given one by the wonderful receptionist. CBD and Hyde park all within easy walki... Read more

Excellent central location within Kings Cross and many eateries, Kings Cross Station, massage shops and convenience stores - with Coles supermarket underground. However, my bed was hard with a slight sag, and the cover tight, short and weighted. Hated the large mirror sliding doors right next to the bed. A mirror in the bathroom is quite sufficient. My room wasn't made up upon my return around 6pm one evening and had to request it. Reception staff are friendly and helpful. The best place for... Read more

I always enjoy staying at IHG properties, and this Hotel was comfortable and convenient. The beds are very comfortable with a different selection of pillows however the bathrooms probably need updating as look old and tired but still they are clean however mine had no soap in the bathroom so guessing that was just an oversight! The breakfast is a great buffet with a wide variety of choice. I found all staff to be helpful and friendly. We did order room service and was later at night and took ove... Read more

When we arrived we had a lot of bags (around 11) and i was waiting to see if someone would come out and help us but to no avail. Ended up having to ask a reception staff member to help with our bags. Once the bags were loaded onto the rack imagine i ended up failing very badly trying to push the heavy thing all to my room myself. The luggage rack was left outside my room for once whole day before someone decided to return it. At check in I asked for a late checkout (around 7pm) but was told th... Read more

We stayed here for 3 nights and were very satisfied with both the service and the room. The breakfast was extra but was very good, and although the restaurant evening menu was fairly limited the food was good and was reasonably good value. The location is excellent being very close to the subway station and a very pleasant 20 minute walk through the Royal Botanical Gardens to the harbour, bridge, and Opera House. Our only criticism is as regards the lifts - there were 3 of them but one only we... Read more

This is an excellent location for a Sydney visit. The rooms are tired and need updating but the beds are comfy and rooms a decent size. Bathrooms are decent size but need updating. Hallways are dark and grubby, carpets really need replacing. Only stay here if u can get a good rate and these do vary. There is currently major construction opposite so u do not want to be on the street side. A very busy area with trains and buses at the doorstep but you can also easily walk from here. We had a one night stop here before we joined a cruise and were very pleasantly surprised with how nice this hotel was for the price. We were able to check in early as we were ihg members and although on a low floor we had a view of the Sydney harbour bridge. The room was a little dated but perfectly clean with black out curtains which is always a bonus. There is also a small fitness room that we used in the morning. Only stayed one night. Service was good and I was well attended to when interacting with staff but the rooms definitely feel a little tired. Before I'd said anything my colleagues made the same comment about the rooms. My room service was also quite disappointing and did not reflect any pride. It looked like the bare minimum someone could do. I've had better most other places I've visited. If you stay, I'd advise you eat out.

I stayed for two nights on a holiday from the UK and I cannot praise this hotel enough. I arrived slightly early and the reception and housekeeping team worked together to get my room ready. I had requested a harbour view room and I was lucky to receive an upgrade to a suite. The view was just amazing - overlooking the botanical gardens and harbour - I cannot imagine any other hotel in the city offering a better view. The room was beautifully clean and presented - a great reflection of the house... Read more

Stayed for 4 nights and was impressed with the location and room size of this hotel. It was very comfortable for 2 of us with 2 queen size bed. Love the fact that they offer firm and/or soft pillows! And the fridge does not have the typical bar which allows us to buy our choice of yoghurt and drinks to put inside. The toilet came with a tub, but the furnishing of the toilet can be improved as the tub has a chip and the "H" on the tap came off. Nonetheless, there was ample supply of hot water. H... Read more

I stayed here three nights from 20 October to 22 October 2016 and was here for a conference. First off I have to say all the staff were amazing from reception to the bar staff to the cleaners. Nothing was too much trouble. So kudos for that. The location is spot on in terms of Kings Cross. Although the Cross is a mere shadow of itself what with the new liquor laws in place. I walked down Darlinghurst Road on Saturday night and you could have played football on the street it was so quiet. Wow wha... Read more

The hotel is in a very convenient location, being directly above Kings Cross station. I was a late check-in (after 11pm) and was met at reception by Blake who conducted himself in a professional manner and was very helpful. My room was on the 8th floor facing a fairly good view of the Kings Cross streetscape and Mrs Macquaire's Chair in the distance. Another 4 night stay at a hotel close to public transport, good restaurants and scenic walks. Enjoy the area, the food variety and public transport options. We frequently venture to Sydney CBD or suburbs as an alternative but this hotel always pleases. Service is polite and professional from reception, restaurant and general staff. This hotel has served as business and private accommodation and continually pleases.

This was a perfect hotel! We wanted a hotel location close to the city, walking distance to the subways into Sydney. Kings Cross location was perfect being a skip and jump away from the hotel, which made us feel comfortable and safe being in a strange faraway place. Within minutes we were in the city, among shops, restaurants. We couldn't ask for more. Most of Sydney was booked out so we had to settle on Holiday Inn. It was awful - rooms sparcely furnished, toiletries below standard, towels not fluffy at all, rooms small, bathroom out of date, shower curtain old and broken. We used cash to settle our account and we were not told that we could not put anything on our room to pay later so we put our $17.50 beverages on the room. At 11pm the front office called my mobile to settle the account. They wanted me to go downstairs to pay the $17.50 and... Read more

Not a flashy hotel with facade and lobby but good value if you don't need to stay in the CBD, close to the station so you can get anywhere quickly (about 4 minutes by train to the city) without parking problems in town - wonderful views of the city and harbour if you pay a little extra for the room, parking only $27.50 Rooms are basic but you are not paying for anything extra.

Nice hotel with happy staff out of the hassel of the city Located in Kings Cross and close to so many amenities, bars, restaurants etc. Rooms are comfortable and views of Sydney are beautiful. Room service staff were very polite and happy - great to see Parking rate of $27.50 is great value and you can come and go as you please. Sirooco Restaurant downstairs is a great place to sit and chill.
