This was our second visit to the Ibis and as with our first, the staff were friendly on arrival and swiftly checked us in. We were informed that we had an upgrade which was a pleasant surprise. The room was very clean, with a king size bed. Breakfast in the morning was prepared to our liking but I would stay away from the coffee machine and have a barrista coffee instead of a minimal fee, we were checked out equally as fast and efficiently as our arrival. I would suggest that if you are a li... Read more

We now always book at Ibis In Newcastle as we enjoy the pleasant reception, clean and tidy rooms and the peace and quiet. We love the comfortable bed and the conveninet location as well. The only downside is the bathrooms have little hanging and storgae space, and usually dont come with a floor mat.

I cannot fault this establishment. The staff were amazing, meals delis, clean comfortable. Central to everything I needed. The beds are the best I have ever slept in and the towels in the rooms fluffy and luxurious. Thank you for a wonderful visit, I am looking forward to staying with you again.

Clean small but does the job. The only complaint I would have is that my 14 year old step son hooked up to the internet with no password at an additional cost which was disclosed at check out. Yep agree child should not have attempted internet but to be able to do this without any password or validation not good but after having a stern conversation after check out about manners etc all is good. It does the job a place to sleep.

When paying almost AUD150 on average per day, I would expect much better than what we got. To keep it simple, here are the Pros and Cons of Hotel Ibis Newcastle: PROS: Friendly, helpful concierges The closest restaurant is a 15 minute walk. The main restaurant strip - Darby Street - is a good 30 minute walk before you reach the restaurants. CONS: Booked a Multi-Bed Room to find that a single bed was a trundle suitable only for a child. We chose two single beds. Tiny rooms that don't allow fo... Read more

Stayed here last Friday night with family( we booked 4 rooms between us). Check in was friendly and rooms were fine, clean and comfortable bed, good shower etc( standard ibis rooms) but service was a little weird. As we had all travelled from interstate we agreed to meet back down in the lobby for a nightcap after check in. I ordered a glass of Shiraz that at $8 a glass tasted rank. It was obvious it had been sitting there in the bottle getting oxidised for weeks and was undrinkable so I left... Read more

Ibis is a budget range hotel and this stay was just that. Very clean and staff friendly and helpful. No hassles. Bit surprised by the bathroom 'pod' in the room but it worked - even if it felt like I was going into space!

I spent 2 nights her, Sat/Sun. Arrived 11am and room allocated not ready. An alternative was quickly made available, and the staff efficient and friendly. Room adequate with a very comfortable bed! Bathroom small but perfectly adequate, with Soft towels and good shower. Good breakfast and parking ( extra) and easy ( 20 mins) walk to centre of Hunter st or Jetty

It's not big and fancy but its consistent and relatively cheap. I got upgraded for free to a king room. I got free internet because I joined their rewards club. For $114 I got hot breakfast included. Another $15 on top for car parking for the night. All up for $129 I'm in a great location that's convenient to restaurants and other amenities nearby. Room was a just a little bit dusty. But hey you get what you pay for. The only thing I could ask for is a bigger desk area for me to work and perha... Read more

Ventured to Newcastle for business and stayed at the IBIS. Great value accommodation close to Honeysuckle and all the eateries. Car parking on site made it so much easier. Step to the main street and centrally locate.

Don't expect to get a park in the car park on Sunday when the church across the road is holding services as they open the car park for them at your expense. They will still charge you for parking though and low and behold if you ask the front desk if they think this acceptable....plain rude is the attitude I received. However the room is tidy, just acceptable, the bed was reasonably comfortable, the bathroom is small though clean.

This motel was chosen because of its location when I needed to travel to Newcastle with my parents for Doctors appointments. It was right next door to Hunter Imaging which was where we needed to be at 9am the next morning. Upon arrival I went for a walk down to the waterfront which was only a 5-10 minute walk away. We were told about the in house restaurant for dinner which we decided to try out. And we were so glad we did....great meals for a great price. A bar as well for a couple of night ... Read more

The hotel is basic, the hall ways leading to the rooms are run down and could definitely do with some modernisation. The rooms are clean but again a little run down.. The bathroom are built in pods which are very small and the hairdryers look as though they have been there since the 70's and take forever to blowdry your hair.

Outdated rooms, noisy whistling air con that never sets to the temperature you set it to, filthy curtains, dirty windows, forget to service your room, noisy loud receptionist who checks you in AND serves you dinner in the restaurant, he is so loud you can hardly hear yourself think. They charge you for parking on site just more or less outside their front door, noisy street with traffic all night,

Location wise not bad but room is very cramped and very surprised to see such a small toilet n shower room. Can fit only one adult at a go. A bit difficult to help my child in toilet. Room wise also no Wi-Fi included. Have to go lobby or pay extra for Wi-Fi. Not convenient or suitable for a family holiday. For a business stay over, still ok.

I've stayed here a number of times, and at $114 a night for a great night sleep in the centre of Newcastle you can't complain. The bed, cleanliness and the quite were great. We almost booked on the web, but decided to check at the desk when we arrived l. They did try and charge a premium over the Internet price. But when challenged were quite happy to agree to the difference

The room is great place to lay your head, it offers a queen bed which is quite comfortable, a nice size tv for the room and quite a nice bathroom which maybe small in size doesn't feel it. The reception stall are very well mannered, presented and very friendly. Only bad point is park though is off street is still $15 a night which can add up quite quickly but there is very limited choices. Highly recommend anyone to stay at the lovely hotel

Only stayed here for a night and was pleasantly surprised, one of the most comfortable beds and room was also very clean. I read the reviews before arriving and do agree the bathroom is like stepping into space as it's a small pod in the corner. We thought this was a clever way of using space everything that was needed was there. Clean room, comfy bed and a hot shower means we left happy customers.

Whilst the rooms are very small they are also very clean and for what you pay they are OK for a night .My issue is with the staff in the morning we stayed on breakfast duties . The woman told us to help ourselves and then I pointed out there were no tables to sit at so she offered us to sit near the door on the lounge chairs and we said no as you can't eat at them . Stayed for one night in July 2016. My wife and I chose the Ibis due to its location and my previous experience in staying here. Check-in was quick and easy, although I will say that driving in is a difficult experience because of the dual-lane cross. My advice would be to go around the block to make sure you are on the same side of the road as the hotel - don't attempt to gun it across the road. We were allocated a room on Level 4 which was adequate - a good sized queen bed, with comfortable pi... Read more

I recently stayed at the Ibis for 2 nights for work. The hotel is modern, clean and the rooms are spacious. It's located in a decent location and only about 5 minutes walk to the nightlife of Honeysuckle or about 10 minutes to the restaurants along Darby Street. The breakfast buffet has a wide range, and appeared to be restocked several times throughout the morning. Overall pretty good value for money and I'd stay here again on my next trip to Newcastle.

We stayed here at short notice, sure it isn't Crown Plaza and it doesn't have a view but we got a King Bed and buffet breakfast for a third of the price of some of the other hotels. While it isn't fancy it is clean and simple and would stay here again. Breakfast is a simple buffet with barista coffee however being included in the tariff is a bonus and a great way to start the day

There was confusion in the car park where a car was restricting access to the only area of the car park which has spare parking places. The rooms are relatively small, so are not suited to an extended stay (unless you are travelling solo). Nonetheless they are well appointed & cleverly set out to maximise space efficiency.
