Great service in a well-located city hotel. Need to pay a bit more if you want the rooms that face over Swanston St to watch the world go by. Beware of the lighting in the room - we couldn't work out all the buttons, many of them were dimly labeled or labeled in such a way that you could only read them if you moved the bed, and we ended up leaving our DO NOT DISTURB sign on all day so missed out on having the room serviced despite paying $300+ per night ...

The room was well sized with king size bed, office desk, good storage and a well maintained bathroom with good water pressure in the showers with multiple nozzles and shower heads. The room was well prepared, clean and sharp. Nothing was out of place and was in great condition for its age. Foyer and reception are comfortable as well. They discount the breakfast from a high price like $40-$50 down to $25 but I am not sure this is all the time. You get a voucher. I used this hotel for busine... Read more

We have just spent the last 4 days in Melbourne, we have 3 choice hotels Somerset on Elizabeth, Novotel on Collins and our favourite Westin Melbourne. I have stayed at the Westin Melborne many times of the years (I am a lifetime SPG platinum member). Location is fantastic as all have said. But as a lifetime SPG platinum member and where Starwood's future is in doubt with their potential acquisition, I have gotten proactive offers from Hilton and Hyatt who value my SPG loyalty status and want to sell themselves to me, As I've recenlty tried both Hilton and Hyatt in Melbourne, the difference is so alarming clear. This is our favourite hotel to always stay @ to be in the heart of Melbourne Once again our stay was 5 star ,staff are always welcoming, competent and very friendly. My only feedback from our stay this time is that breakfast was very busy on Sunday morning and more staff are required to refill rather than us having to request refills on breakfast choices which meant standing around waiting whilst other food on your plate went cold

This is a good base of operation for those traveling to Melbourne (particularly SPG members) given its central location In particular the rooms are comfortable (love the Westin Heavenly Bed) and concierge is extremely helpful for setting up tours and more generally orienting you to the city. Only real negative for me is that didn't like the large open lobby lounge as much -- felt sort of impersonal and made meal and tea service challenging for their servers I think.

Beds are always amazingly comfortable! We didn't really utilise any other services of the hotel (spa/ gym/ food etc). This hotel is always good - every trip to Melb we stay here, Best location, excellent service, and for where it is super quiet. I do not understand though, why a Hotel like this applies a surcharge for a Credit Card payment, I have NEVER had a surcharge applied by a Hotel - really Westin, how else do you want us to pay. Really if you are cutting that fine, raise your rate 1.5% and forget the surcharge, it just leaves a poor taste in your mouth.

Arriving at the Westin is always good. Check in is smooth, as you would expect from a luxury hotel. Rooms are large enough not to feel claustrophobic, mini bar is filled and the bed is comfortable. The room also has ample storage - not always present in other hotels. But I think what is important is the staff. Concierge and reception staff can make or break one's perception of a hotel, and the Westin staff are outstanding! Because we are SPG members, wi-fi was free.

I have stayed at the Westin Melbourne many times over the past 6 or 7 years for both work and pleasure, but lately I have felt it has gone downhill, similar to other reviews on here. Lately I have switched to the Sheraton Melbourne, despite the Westin being larger, more luxurious, and having a better location. After a not so great stay earlier this year, I gave it one last chance a few months ago for a special occasion, but unfortunately the experience was consistent with the time before, an... Read more

I visit Melbourne twice a year and it is now a tradition that I do a high tea. A local friend joined me on a rainy and very wet Melbourne Thursday afternoon. We were given a window view and overlooked a colourful parade of people and birds. Tea came first - we forgot to have champagne - I had the Jasmine pearls (Buddha's tears) and my friend a tea ball that bloomed into a bright marigold. Shame they didn't serve the tea as soon as they had poured the hot water so that we could watch the pear... Read more

I stayed at this property for 3 nights while on business in Melbourne. The hotel is centrally located downtown with ample great restaurants within walking distance. I arrived around 10am after a long flight from LAX, and the woman working the front desk was extremely expedient in getting me checked in as I think she recognized I was a weary traveler. Service- staffs are generally polite. However, the service express phone operator lacks proper phone etiquette. for instance, i asked for toothbrush as it was absent in my room, the man on the phone ask curtly "how many?"..its as if i owe him money or did him disservice by asking for tooth brush. And when i ask for more drinking water, again it was a curt "how many" that sounded really unfriendly. Room- spacious but the room can do with some refurbishment. Toilet needs improvement. Th...
