stayed one night with a colleague (two different rooms) last week. Check in was efficient as usual. However, the check in staff just simply said that the 'welcome pack" was not made up for me. Just gave us the keys to our rooms. The welcome pack is simply a standard proforma letter from the manager welcoming the Platinum member staying and stating the benefits for the stay. It takes less than a minute to do as per my previous experience. Not to mention that the welcome gift which is usually fru... Read more

We just returned from a 4 night stay at the Sofitel on Collins Street and it was a fabulous stay! We booked our room with Club Access and we were so happy we did. If you are considering the Club Access I would just say go for it, it's far better than we imagined. The food is wonderful and there is so much choice. I was offered an upgrade being a platinum member, room was on the 47th floor with a great view of the river. On the plus side: For world class luxury - which has a 'feel' of calm, and world class unhurried, 'classiness' too, - you cannot go past the Sofitel 'on Collins' in Melbourne ( of the Sofitel in most places for that matter)! You can be sure to get friendly, helpful, 'go above and beyond' staff, a room with stunning views and yet a feeling of your own oasis of peace while you are in your room, and of being " far above the madding crowd". Add to this, a bed that no matter how bad your back ... Read more

We make regular trips to Melbourne and have stayed at most, if not all, of the big name and boutique hotels there. Without a doubt, the Sofitel has been the most enjoyable stay yet. Whilst I would honestly rate The Crown Towers as having more glitz, the customer service, attention to detail and overall experience of staying at the Sofitel outrates the glitz any day, and at a more affordable rate. I've found my new go-to hotel in Melbourne.

Sofitel on Collins is still everything a 5-star luxury hotel should. It still exudes space, grandeur and character, although its décor and furniture are showing inevitable maturity. This was a lovely hotel. The feeling of space was spectacular in the atrium and public areas. Valet parking worked very efficiently. The views from the bedroom are the best Melbourne views I have ever seen. A few small quibbles, I felt that a hotel of this standard should had a swimming pool rather than being told to go down the road to use the Novotel one. Having read some lovely reviews for this hotel, I was sadly disappointed following my stay at the Sofitel. It is a very noisy hotel, noise carries up from the restaurant level and can be heard in all rooms (due to hotel design). The walls between the rooms are paper thin and housekeeping make up the rooms very late in the day. In true Sofitel form, it's a very luxurious hotel and all the essentials covered. Most recent stay was in a corner suite, which was in the middle of winter. The room was nice and service when I needed it was as expected. I've stayed at this hotel probably half a dozen times and my only disappointment is the deterioration of the hotel restaurant No. 35 - it was once a highly rated restaurant but either it's being resourced less or something. Our corner room on level 42 was spacious, beautiful, had a brilliant view over Melbourne and was sooooo comfortable. Truly a refugee from city/work cares. We've stayed in many rooms in many cities but this was a spectacular eyrie. However, one modern pitfall was to open shutters ( yes, there are shutters) early in the morning and to be almost eye-to-eye with the builders on the tower next door! Also at level 42.

Everything is almost perfect if you are not the Platinum member of the Accor group. Well, the location, service and foods are good. If you are not the member of the Accor group, this is probably good for everything but the services is not really that nice when it compare with the services in Asia of the other Sofitel's Hotel. eg, I have been staying there for 3 nights but my name was not on the list on the executive lounge, and clearly not even in the room record, which I could use it with my st... The hilarious thing about this high quality hotel is the because it's an Accor, the staff are trained to greet you in French viz with a 'bon soir' or a 'bon journee' ... just don't try to continue that convo in French. As a hotel it's excellent & I can say that since I first stayed there 32 years ago on my wedding night, it doesn't seem to have aged at all. Clearly there is a continuous upgrading program ... last night I ordered room service on the hotel Ipad and slept in a room with the most up... Read more

Closing the lobby bar at 5PM is antiquated and uncharacteristic for an international hotel. The lights had been dimmed and I was unable to offer a drink to someone I had arranged to meet there. The winter duvet was far too heavy for the season.

What a great hotel in a fantastic location. Stayed here for 3 nights and it was wonderful. We had arrived early in the morning after a midnight flight and the staff at check in were so accommodating, finding us a room that we could check in early. The room was lovely - comfortable, clean and spacious. Fantastic location around Collins Street with lots of places to eat but also easy to get around the city. Will definitely be staying here again when we return to Melbourne.

Lovely luxury hotel, We stayed on the 46 floor with a city view and we were not disappointed. Lovely view at any time of the day. Awesome location at the top end of Collins st, trams are located right outside the hotel, CBD is a short walk away if you fancy it. Rooms are comfortably furnished. Bathrooms are spacious with nice large bathtubs and a good pressure shower! Check in and out is pleasant with very knowledgeable staff. Looking forward to visiting again next year!

The rooms are high and therefore the view fantastic from not only the room, but also the restaurant/club and the Gym. The rooms are comfortable and well furnished and very comfortable. Access to central Melbourne is very easy we were able to get places without any great effort. Tram to St Kilda also close and well placed for a walk to MCG and on to inner suburbs as well. My husband and I purchased a theater package through Accor for our wedding anniversary celebration. It was made so special by the wonderful Soffitel hotel and their lovely, friendly staff. The chocolates on arrival, the surprise anniversary gift - a bottle of De Bortoli Legacy sparkling wine with card. We had wonderful seats at the "We will Rock You show" -we were 8 rows from the stage, right in the middle. The free welcome cocktail drinks with nibbles.at the Atrium bar was absolutely yum. We w... Gym well appointed.breakfadt was disappointing the omelet arrived half raw. Staff excellent. More good than bad. If you need s good hotel at that end of Collins Street it a sound choice.

Just a quick trip to the Sofitel on Collins, staying there to attend a function at the hotel. My room on the 48th floor was spacious with a good view. Bathroom is quite small so the rail for the hand towel is right in front of the sink. No shampoo or conditioner in the room, which I did not realise til I was about to jump in the shower so too late to call housekeeping. Very efficient check in and out service.

Both rooms, bedroom and lounge/dining room were spacious and well appointed. The bathroom was also roomy and clean. Connected are cafes a cinema, bank clothing and hair dresser plus a variety of other shops. Short walk to the CBD but given the views well worth the walk. The Guest Services Manager at Sofitel on Collins went out of her way to help us recently, after we had checked out. She coordinated other staff at the hotel and worked with them and us to track down some lost property, kept us advised, and (best of all) recovered the item.
