Stayed at the Mercure treasury gardens recently, first stop of the wonders of australia by Distant journeys, (fantastic tour). Decent hotel, with a nice breakfast, and good bar, but best of all a great location, with the park in front. Turn right out of the hotel, and there is a tram stop, where you can travel arround the city free of charge. Turn left from the hotel, and it`s a short walk to lot`s of resturaunts. Overall would be happy to stay here again.

The Hotel is in good position for exploring Melbourne the staff were very helpful and friendly. Unfortunately we were on the 11 floor room 1101 we found it very noisey as the bath room extractor runs permanently also the ventilation equipment Is situated above this level we complained as we could not get to sleep. The staff are aware of this problem and moved us to floor 9 which was a lot better. The breakfast was okay but we had to ask for the buffet to be topped up each day as it was not fill... Read more

Stayed here for 2 nights in a twin room. Hotel is well placed in Spring St with trams down Collins St & Flinders St about a minutes walk. There is a small hill but we used the Collins st trams and it is a downhill walk to hotel from city and we used Flinders St trams to go to city and this is also downhill. Dinner at hotel was good but not a lot of menu choices. Hotel across the road from the gardens and Captain Cooks Cottage . Staff friendly and helpful, beds comfy - we had 2 queen beds i... Read more

My room had the scent of "stinky feet" every time I entered. The shower door got stuck on the bath mat. The car parking was overpriced and one wouldn't wish to have a large car as the car space was very tight. On the way in one was let in as soon as one rang the door bell however on the way out one had to wait ages to be let out? The room I purchased was with view over the City but the room I was allocated was on 1st floor overlooking the front parapet and the only view I had was when I looked ... Read more

The room was adequate however the shower consistently overflowed into the bathroom. The bar at the hotel was not really up to par with staff who did not know much about drinks. The post mix was flat and when I asked for another G and T because of the flat tonic they said they will do something about the gas. After 10 minute wait I got another drink no better so I just left it about $10.00 wasted.

Convenience is the main attraction for this hotel, as it is close to major sport stadiums such as the MCG. It is clean and comfortable and the price is good for a CBD property although the extra $15 for a gardens view is a gimmick. There are breakfast option just down the street if you want to avoid the $25/head price for breakfast in the restaurant.

We chose the Mercure Treasury Gardens for its proximity to the Windsor Hotel for dining and Her Majesty's theatre and were delighted with the decision. It was a cold, rainy blustery day in Melbourne, contrasting with the warm, friendly ambience of this hotel and its amazing staff. I stayed here for 2 nights this week and honestly, the location is just perfect. A 10 minute walk through Chinatown and you are at Bourke Street / Elizabeth Street for shopping. Treasury Gardens across the road, theatres and restaurants within walking distance, MCG also within walking distance and an on site restaurant. It ticks all the boxes. Have stayed here before and find it convenient for pickups by friends, as it is on the edge of the city. It is well serviced by the free City Circle tram. Rooms are adequate, but not large. Staff are always attentive, as they should be, and I am happy to keep staying here when in Melbourne. I had a case of deja vu, when I ordered The Australian newspaper, this morning. The hotel is great from check in to check out no problems at all. Recently stayed for 7 nights and was treated so well. After a 3 day work conference time for me easy short walk to the MCG also a tram ride awaybfrom the city centre. As a bonus you xan wonder into the gradens at night and feed the possums it's the best fun. This hotel should be in your top 5 melbourne hotels to stay at.

We stayed for just one night whilst celebrating our 17th wedding anniversary. I can highly recommend the Mercure - a great position meant that we were easily able to walk to the Southbank and the room was very comfortable with a fantastic view of the Treasury Gardens and the distant Dandenong Ranges. The staff were excellent and we were surprised with a lovely bottle of prosecco to celebrate with. The breakfast was great with plenty of choice. We booked a privilege room so free wifi, newspaper, robe, slippers, sweet treat, select teas & coffee machine. The wifi made it worthwhile but then it cost more than other rooms so really we felt like what we paid for was the view. It was nice to be able to look at the sky & step out onto the balcony. Would be too noisy to leave the window open (on 11th floor) in fine weather due to the busy intersection. No noise from traffic with the door closed however the permanent air flow in the bathroom w... Read more

We stayed here, as it is close enough to the CBD, without being in the middle of it all. It is a short walk to the CBD, Fed Square, sporting precinct & directly opposite the gardens. The rooms are a little on the small side, but really nice. It is all you want, neat, tidy, comfortable & the decor is inviting & energetic. The staff are extremely polite & helpful. The bar staff, friendly & know their stuff. This is a great place to stay & we will stay here again.

This hotel is small but really peaceful. The room was big enough for 2 people and well kept. Couldn't hear any sound which is good. Beds are soft but did find that my back ached a little. The location is good, the free tram stop is just a 2 minute walk which is very convenient! The staff were very friendly and offered us an umbrella for the rainy weather. Overall a really good hotel for 3 nights.

We stayed here as a family. The position is great as it is directly across from the main gardens and easily accessible by foot from the city centre. Unfortunately the room was disappointing. Very small and concrete feel. The room had two queen beds a desk with a filthy chair and a strange corner chair for one. The bathroom was about 1.5 m wide and long and had no room for your clothing or amenities and a filthy vent. Even the tissue box was sitting under the piping. The view was lovely. The corr... We booked 2 rooms for three days to celebrate a family event. The room were comfortable although not overly large. All necessary facilities were good. The bed was very comfortable. The hotel restaurant food was enjoyable. We were very happy staying there and also considered the room rates to be very good for Melbourne. Located at the top end of Melbourne and not too far from China Town.

Recently had my annual trip to Melbourne with my daughter to see a show and do some shopping. We always stay at the Mercure Treasury Gardens - twin room - very comfortable and great position in the CBD. Only disappointment this time was no more Lime Restaurant - this has been replaced with the Hop Sing Restaurant which we did not really enjoy. Staff very courteous and friendly but am hoping for a return of the much beloved Lime Restaurant.

The rooms are very dark needs more lighting I was in 902 near the lift so you could hear people in the corridor at all hours of the night getting in & out of the lift. the room was excellent, as were the beds and the view. The pillows could have been better for our taste. The staff was friendly and helpful, the shower room very good, however housekeeping could do better: we left the room at 6;30 am and came back around 3:30 pm and the room was not made dispite the make up my room sign on the door. The housekeeping staff came quickly after our phone call but the lady was not happy and banged around and was grumpy... Room service was very good.

I think the title just about says it all. In my opinion the Mercure is a typical tourist style hotel of 3 star (plus) quality by European standards. Rooms are clean and comfortable but rather small. If you upgrade to a garden views room the view is certainly nice for a city location. Staff friendly and efficient. Breakfast is extra and listed at $26. Location very good and within easy walk of most of central Melbourne.

Bathroom great, proper shower (no bath). Did request at time of booking for the room to be located away from the lifts but this did not happen. The hotel room was modern, clean and comfortable. The location is great, - quieter than many other hotels but still a short walk to the free city tram and Parliament railway station. The gardens and park across the road offer lovely views from one side of the hotel. Staff very courteous, friendly and helpful and the location was very good in terms of access to transport especially trams. Iced lemon water in the foyer was always welcoming after walking around the city. The rooms were basic and bathroom tiny, uncomfortable lounge and not so good pillows. Scenic views over Treasury Gardens and on the fringe of the CBD proper, I knew it was extremely handy for public transport, the MCG and it's associated sporting precinct (not Etihad Stadium though for those not acquainted with Melbourne) for the two day International Netball series which drew us there primarily. I have a one bedroom suite, and it was perfect. Brightly decorated with nespresso machine, which was great. Only problem area was the bathroom which was very dimly lit, so impossible to put make up on in there.
