Accommodation was modern and fully renovated. Quirky and welcoming city pad in the best location to everything Melbourne has to offer. By far one of the best we have stayed in close to everything. Loft upstairs offered the most comfortable king bed and compact bathroom. Downstairs had a lounge and kitchenette which was great for morning coffee. Reasonably priced, friendly welcoming service (staff were exceptional) and very comfortable. Saturday night was a little noisy with a bar right outs... Read more

We have arrived with our car and were given an advice to park in a loading zone by the receptionist at the hotel. However, at the end, we were given‚?¶ a parking ticket from the Council. When discussed this with ‚??Paul‚?? at the reception, to clarify the confusion with the parking, we found him very unprofessional and impolite, to the point that he asked us if ‚?¶ we have a driving license and‚?¶.if we can read the signs (?), which comments I found totally offensive. Walking distance to Flinders Street station and close to a variety of different restaurants and retail outlets (Myer, David Jones - Bourke Street Mall etc). I give this review a very good mainly because of the location! The Mantra is in a perfect location for checking out Melbourne city and getting around! The room itself is adequate. I found the spacing of my particular apartment a bit odd - very large living room. And a small bed room. You could walk around the bed, but there was no space to put your bags. We really appreciated the central location, but due to our room facing the adjacent laneway we were subject to a lot of noise from the bars and passing traffic. We were also woken every night around 4am to the sound of trucks loading cargo next door. Located right in the middle of Melbourne's city rectangle, some 10 minutes' walk north bound to La Trobe St., south to Flinders, west to Spencer and east to Spring, it's the heart of the CBD and major shopping names. As this was a shopping and dining trip to Melbourne, our accomodation choice was perfect. Our aim was to be in the heart of the city and this Mantra fulfilled the brief perfectly. It is in a refurbished building and our room was facing into another building so felt quite claustrophobic but it is in the centre of town and we were only in our room to sleep so it was fine.
