The location of this hotel was excellent, easy access to shopping, trams, trains etc. The room we booked was a spa room - great room. Large corner unit down the end of the corridor so really quiet. The staff couldn't have been nicer. We arrived at 10am to drop our bags and we're given the room straight away. Excellent service all round. Thanks

We were in room 664,clean and comfortable, mini bar prices were very reasonable. Complimentary bottle of water, and newspaper in the morning. the furniture was a bit dated and showed wear and tear but was not really bothered by it. Staff were friendly. This hotel is in a great location. I would use again.

Tired old room with flaking furniture and outlook to brick wall and office next door. That would be ok but charged $50 extra for incidentals in advance. Exceeds value of incidentals available. May not be refunded for some weeks, 'depending on my bank'! How about they don't charge it? You already have my credit card details, but I'm out of pocket for weeks for items I didn't consume. Will never go there again.

We didn't arrive to the hotel until 1am, It was nice to be greeted by really friendly helpful staff even though it was late. The rooms were clean and modern and very surprisingly you couldn't hear one sound from the cafes below in the morning and they also had the best blackout curtains!! The location is perfect, really central to everything. I will be staying there again

This hotel is in a great location, very close to the city. The room was okay, furniture a bit dated and worn. The 'queen' bed was just two single beds put together, leaving an uncomfortable bump in the middle of the two beds. On our first day, we did get walked in on by a staff member, which was a bit unsatisfactory. The bath we had was absolutely amazing - Very spacious and awesome spa setting, although the shower door was broken. Would recommend this hotel as the staff were very friendly and g... Read more

Well just like my review title suggests this hotel was indeed in a good location and very clean. Now I'm not going to lie, usually my partner and I stay at a different hotel but we ended up getting a good deal on a king room and I wasn't disappointed. It was quite spacious too which is good because we stayed for a week. It's got everything you want in a hotel room, comfy beds, it's quiet, a stones throw from Bourke Street Mall and it even a safe for your precious valuables. The rooms also come ... Read more

Our travel agent booked us into this hotel on a special deal - pay for 3 nights and get an extra night for free. Included in the deal was 2 hours free wifi daily as well as a daily free continental breakfast each. The Skybus coach dropped us off at the top end of the street, about a block away and we almost missed the little lane the hotel was located on. Upon checking in, we found the room quite compact but the queen bed was comfortable and the room & bathroom clean & adequate for our needs. ... Read more

By fluke, I discovered this extremely central, clean hotel during a previous visit to Melbourne. We travel to Melbourne at least a few times a year for long weekends. So if we're not staying with friends, given the chance, we will stay here as often as we can when visiting Melbourne. The greeting is always friendly & with a smile. Nothing is too much trouble. It's extremely affordable & with a buffet continental breakfast thrown in - and a good breakfast at that - you can't go wrong. Being... Read more

What a disappointing visit. Upon arrival we walked into a matchbox sized room with the window 2 inches from the neighbouring building. The room was nothing like it looked like on booking.com. Floors were grubby, furniture was marked and the single beds were fit for kids. When we approached the manager to let him know of our shock, he was not at all helpful and his customer service skills were that of a 15 year old who was told to clean up his room. We stayed here for 2 nights and I can't fault it. It's the perfect location to stay in Melbourne's CBD and the room was really good considering the price. I didn't try the breakfast and the WiFi isn't free but that's standard for Australian hotels. It's an easy walk to the MCG, Crown, Etihad Stadium, theatres, museums, restaurants etc. The food and drinks in the minibar are extremely well priced too. Like, strangely well priced.

Good Hotel tucked away in a laneway - walking distance to trams, mall, restaurants etc. On the smaller scale in size of rooms, but that didn't matter as we were only there to sleep. As my title suggestions, this hotel is perfectly situated in the centre of Melbourne. A very short walk to Bourke St Mall and surrounding restaurants and shopping. The hotel itself was clean and comfortable, had the basic amenities you'd need for a short stay. My only issue was it was a tiny bit noisy, the heavy doors didn't seem to keep noise out, but we were situated next to the lifts, so that may be why. The breakfasts were simple but offered different selections of pastries, fruits and cereals. The rooms were clean and tidy. Fantastic central location. We will be staying again next year as we believe the Causeway 353 is fa... Read more

Loved the location - amazingly convenient and fun being in a laneway. No issues getting in and out with a cab - just be prepared to walk you suitcase to the main road which is easy! Great cafes and restaurants in the laneway so food is right at your door - we enjoyed great breakfasts every morning. Nice little apartment - only complaint is the shower head and pressure which isn't strong and the couch was a little worse for wear. Others wise a great base for a work or holiday trip!

I was really looking forward to staying here for my Birthday/ Weekend with my wife as i work and live in Melbourne i have heard positive reviews of The Causeway 353 , unfortunately it didnt get off to the best of starts , maybe some off the staff were having a bad day or shift change but the front off house staffer who checked us in was shocking, and to tell me that she hadnt started her shift yet , sorry that isnt my problem, no hello or welcome nothing to my wife or myself who was checking us ... Good value and convenient location, with comfortable beds. Also nearby there is a laneway that hosts all sorts of food vendors at lunchtime on weekdays, an absolute buzz, Stayed to go to a show in a theatre nearby suggest we will visit again.

We choose this property to stay at for 4 nights and we loved the location. The room and bathroom were small but the bed was comfortable and the linen of a good quality. The breakfast was a bonus and quite sufficient with lovely pastries and fresh tropical fruit. We would definitely stay here again if we were to come back to Melbourne

I stayed at this hotel in late September 16 with my daughter for two nights - a birthday shopping trip for her. I thought the value was outstanding given we really only needed a room for sleeping as we were out and about mostly. We arrived before 9am but were lucky enough to be allowed to check straight in by the friendly and efficient staff which we really appreciated having been up early that morning. The room wasn't big but it certainly didn't feel small and the furnishings all felt new and ... Read more

Very central hotel . Just in a little laneway. Breakfast nice fresh and tasty continental. Lacking a lounge but friendly helpful staff. Laundry service easy and a gym too. Breakfast in basement. No views from hotel windows

Staff were extremely helpful, location is great (though tucked away so a little inaccessible for taxis) rooms were clean and spacious. Would be better if WiFi was included, especially as it's free around the city.

Good location. My problem is when you leave ' please clean my room ' I would expect the room to be cleaned. The sign had been placed outside the door since 9am, arrived back at 430pm. I would have expected the room to have been cleared but when I spoke to the Front desk if you are "stay over guessed they clean the room from 2pm to 5pm". In my opinion this is madness, since most people will return to a hotel the relax and freshen up. before heading out again for the evening. It was then explain t... Read more

Despite the reviews to the contrary, this is not a cheap hotel, but the spa suite is larger than most hotel rooms and very comfortable. With so much going for the place the lack of free wifi was very annoying. Helpful attentive staff went part way towards redeeming the wifi dissapointment. The owners need to address the way in which access cards fail, however. Too much time wasted having cards reloaded on the ground floor.

We had a 3 night stay reception staff were efficient, friendly and helpful on check in and out. The Causeway 353 is in a great central location with plenty of trams close by that will take you to just about any destination in Melbourne you wish to go. Bourke Street Mall, China Town, Theaters, Federation Square etc are within easy walking distance. Our room was clean, well presented and although not big was more than adequate with a good size comfortable bed, TV, micro wave also good size en suit... Read more

The hotel is very clean and has good size rooms. It is very centrally located, so I walked to all the main attractions. There are a lot of restaurants around. Also Skybus will take you very close to the hotel, so it is very convenient. There is a nice breakfast served downstairs. The only inconvenience that free WiFi is limited to 2 hours a day. Definitely will stay here again.

After a long walk from Southern Cross station, we were greeted by one of your friendly staff. Check in was quick and efficient. As we had arrived before check in time, our bags were minded, while we had a look around Melbourne. We found our room to be quiet, clean and the bed was very comfortable. The bathroom had a bath with the shower over, the bathroom was clean and modern. There was a gym and steam room on the second floor, we checked it out, but we were doing enough walking during the day w... Read more
