Location is great - 5 minute walk to the Skybus stop, next to a tram, and walking distance to the big stores on Burke Street. The room was on the small side, but we very much enjoyed our stay -- from breakfast in the morning, to the wide variety of channels on TV, to the cleanliness of the room, laundry onsite, and friendliness of staff. We stayed for 4 nights, and it was a wonderful, comfortable stay.

Huge thumbs up to the Alto. Not only was it clean, friendly, quiet and affordable, but when I left a rare vinyl in the room they shipped it interstate for a few dollars with super safe packaging. Thank you for that extra attention. We'll be back.

Great location just up the road from the airport bus depot and tram stop. Staff very helpful and left Mum a token hoc of chocolates for her birthday. Staff also assisted us to arrange show tickets and of course directed us to the theatre with ease especially as Mum has mobility issues at times. We had a light dinner one night and it was delish! Cooked on site with attentive staff. Complimentary massage chairs were given and workout and so as the ready nook. We would definitely stay again.

This is such a great place to stay at! The hotel is right in the CBD and the free tram is so close by!!!! That makes exploring the city really easy. There is a room with free massage chairs, which feels great after a day of sightseeing. The rooms are very nice and have Foxtel. And the rooftop honey is delicious!

Walking distance to southern cross station and many places to eat. However, we were on level 2. Could hear people yelling, walking & talking on the streets all night, which kept me awake. Clean, comfortable room. Friendly service Would recommend only if you had to be at the train station early so you can walk.

We had a long weekend at the Alto with our daughter, her husband and their three young children. We had two adjacent two-bedroom apartments on the fourth floor. The apartments were clean, comfortable and quiet. They worked very well for us - the three children were split between the two apartments (the second bedrooms have two single beds). The Alto Hotel in Bourke Street Melbourne is a great Boutique style hotel in the CBD of Melbourne. With very personalised service, beautiful appointed rooms and many other amenities such as free gym usage, Massage chair rooms etc it is a definite "Must return" on next visit to Melbourne. my sister and I went to Melbourne for a huge shopping trip and the Alto hotel on Bourke Street was perfect. We shopped our hearts out and then walked back to our room to offload and start again. The apartment we stayed in was well appointed and had everything you would need for a short stay. It was well priced for a 2 bedroom apartment (with your own bathroom) and big enough to have your own space. Loved it!

Travelled to Melbourne for a business meeting. Arrived evening and was pleasantly greeted by reception. A few minutes later I was in my room. I stayed in a studio queen room and opted to add on the breakfast package ($10). Room was of a good size, modern and spotless. I had a great sleep - bed and pillow very comfortable. The Alto has long been my hotel of choice so I was delighted when I found that there were two pokestops close enough to be accessed within the restaurant and bar area. I could even access one of the stops from my room. Having free Wi-Fi and access to two pokestops all night long meant that I didn't even use the free Foxtel.
