The setting is idyllic but the resort is a little old. You get an actual key for your room. However they do things really well an unobtrusively. It all just seems to happen with minimal fuss. The room was spacious and comfortable and clean. The breakfast was at least above average and we'll stocked. Check in and out was smooth. I didn't have the time to view this as a holiday resort but I have no complaints. Lovely staff and efficient operations were evident.

My husband and I recently stayed at this Hotel and couldn't fault it ! The service was 1st class, rooms were spotless, and we were even gifted a bottle of bubbly for our 40th Wedding Anniversary. We stayed on the 13th floor and had the best ocean view ! We found out the hard way how much of a problem the cockatoos are when they got into our room while we were out and ransacked through $50 worth of groceries - eating ALL biscuits and lollies but not touching the healthy fruit items ! We did have a few issues at the beginning. Our room was right on the driveway and next to lifts. Room 110. We did ask if we could be moved. Even though it could not be done that day , it was done the following day. However, not all our fridge items were transferred. That took some hours to find. Then in the evening we went to make a cuppa in the new room. The kettle stank! The previous occupants had cooked some kind of soup in it. A replacement kettle was ordered but once again this took som... Read more

Lovely hotel, great location and big room. Only downside is they definitely are not as clean as they should be for the price. Beds are changed every 3 days which is fine because let's be honest no one changes their bed that often anyway, but the bathroom floors weren't even swept properly nor the sink cleaned properly, which I would expect. Our room smelt a bit damp also, not sure why as it didn't appear to be. I would recommend however as it didn't impede our stay too much.

Went to Hamilton island on a business conference. Check in was quick and friendly. My room was located on the 12th floor. When I opened the door the room had a musty/mouldy smell. The rooms are very large but the furniture is looking very old. No pillow menu. The room has a split air conditioner which blows on you all night. The bathroom is very large but looking very tired and the floor was dirty. Great view of the water. You cannot leave the doors open of your room as the birds fly into the ro... Read more

Even though the hotel is a little dated, everything was clean and the views from the large and airy rooms were breathtaking. The balcony was a real bonus. I was very impressed that every member of staff that we dealt with were friendly, helpful and courteous. Management must be doing something right and it's great to see. This is especially important given the number of overseas visitors to the Island.

The hotel tries hard but it has to be renovated soon. It's a really busy place and has obvious appeal for conferences. This places pressure on a good night's sleep as attendees spend all night partying in nearby rooms. I won't ever go near a Red Rooster store again - no sleep one night thank guys!

We had two separate one night stays in higher floor rooms before and after a private Boat charter. The hotel's architectural style can best be described as a cross between Cold War Moscow and Early Singapore Suburban appartments, in other words heavy on the concrete light on the style. Despite the ugly exterior and public areas, the rooms are extremely large and the bathroom generous with separate tub and shower, the balcony is large with comfy outdoor furniture. Hotel is located close to the main swimming beach on the Island, has a great pool and views over the water to Whitsunday Island. We had a family room, two adjoining rooms which was ideal. Great beds, shower and very spacious for a hotel room. One of the two bathrooms has a bath. Amenities in the room included microwave and some self catering items. Staff are friendly and helpful. From the hotel its easy to access many activities that were included in the accommodation price.

Everything worked well including the airport transfers, checkin and porterage. All staff were friendly and efficient. Rooms may be a little dated but not so much as they actually need renovation. Good TV including a good range of Foxtel channels. Wifi worked okay. The gym was adequate. Stayed on the sixteenth floor. The view was magnificent. This is a very large hotel; commendably operated. Bathrooms are a little tired but totally fine for what they are there for. Great water pressure and plenty of towels. The towels are fairly gray but it doesn't not stop them drying. Reef view has wonderful views, access to delightful pools. During good weather the outdoor activities are paradise, however, if the the weather is less than present like during my stay, there is nothing much to do. Reef views personal restaurant has a nice view of it's pool, sadly this is it's only good quality. The quality of the food is poor and I would warn you not to drink any of the water on the island, as it mildly tastes of chlorine. I'd advise you to book a table for dinner as even if t... Read more

The reef view hotel needs a renovation with the tropical environment takings it's toll on the resort. The door was developing rust and the building needed a paint. The bathroom while spacious was outdated and needed a renovation. The linen was clean but the furniture needed a upgrade. The main extra of staying at reef view is the free water activities hire on catseye beach. As a canoe hire is around $30 it quickly pays off staying at reef view where it's included. Spectacular water views. Restaurant quality was fine, acceptable service all round. Room cleaners were not great but you cant have everything right, it isnt like we were paying $1,000+ per night for Qualia! Over all it was a pleasant enough stay. I mean, if I go out of my way I can kind of see the point behind some of the complaints I read here prior to staying at the Reef View. Yes, there are a few tiny little things that mean this hotel is never going to rate 5 stars, but that clearly isn't the price point they are trying to fill here. Honestly, if you want Qantas service don't come with a Jetstar budget! The hotel is old and the rooms need improvement work. Prices are to high for what you get, just because the Island is spectacular and you are near the Coral Reef Barrier. At breakfast time, the dining room is more like a Marine barrack than a place to begin the day in a place where one pays a lot of bucks for staying. Service lack professionalism.
