We spent 5 days here in May with our 8 year old twins. It was a deal on luxury escapes so at c. $200 per night with breakfast and watersport facilities was excellent value. I'm therefore conscious when writing this review that it's fair. After all, we weren't spending $15k on the one and only on Hayman island ! The rooms are pretty good - fairly spacious and we had a balcony with sea views (highly recommend this and avoid garden rooms). They are a reasonable size and whilst the bathroom is a bi... Read more

We spent 5 nights at Daydream Island and although it could do with a revamp, we still had a lovely holiday. Plenty of walking and the walk through the rainforest was so lovely that we did it twice. The weather wasn't the best but we still enjoyed circumnavigating the island in a little boat - even if the waves were as high as the boat! Full marks for the buffet breakfast and all staff were most pleasant and helpful. Our room was good and we upgraded to a sea view balcony room. As this was rig... Read more

We booked to visit this resort in February 15, and we loved our stay. The rooms are basic but clean and well kept. We especially enjoyed waking up and finding our new "friends" outside the balcony door every day. I would definitely recommend to visit the island.

This resort was stunning from the moment we arrived off the yacht. We were greeted with shell necklaces under the welcome to day dream island sign and ushered into a room with drinks. The rooms are stunning and kept very clean. The pool area was also well looked after and the pools were all very large so there was plenty of space. I liked all the hidden spots so you can get some peace and quiet. There are plenty of activities, we fed the sting rays and had a lesson about the aquatic creatures at... Read more

This place simply is not worth a visit! We spent 6 nights and we deeply regret it! Here's a list of reasons why we very much disliked our stay: - The hotel is very dated and in a bad condition at least the part where we stayed in - The room smelled moldy - There was mold in the bathroom - The shower was rusty - The tab was broken - The toilet flush would continuously run until you hit it a couple of times - There was no light on the balcony - The air con was very old and hardly functioned, power... Our stay at Daydream Island was fantastic. The staff are very friendly band welcoming nothing is too much trouble. We had a couple of issues with the air conditioner but there was someone there to fix it within 5 minutes. Sunset Kayak and the Ocean Rafting Cruises are a must.

Daydream family holiday was fantastic. We stayed 5 days last week of May 2016 and enjoyed our stay thoroughly. Some notable differences to other reviews. Mini golf is free. In room movies are free. There is slow wifi in room available free. Some other things worth mentioning. Proper coffee as in cappuccino available for $4 from 3 different parts of the island. (Mermaids, bakery and atrium). Things are not as expensive as I thought they would be. Reef shoes $20. Souvenirs were no more than in a... Read more

We did a Luxury Escapes 5 nights package in a Garden Balcony room which included breakfast and ten $50 rejuvenation spa vouchers and a number of free activities provided on the island. A great little escape with plenty to do or just day dream. The resort itself is clean and still undergoing an upgrade to bring it up to standard but don't let that put you off. The Island is small one kilometer in length so you can walk every where or get a golf buggy to the other end of the island during certain ... Read more

My three kids, 20, 11, and 7, my wife and I stayed on Daydream for 5 nights last month, and did not want to leave. With so much to do on the Island, we tried to pace ourselves but couldn't help trying out everything on offer. We kayaked, snorkeled, glass bottom boated, mini golfed, swam, our 11 yr old was a reef ranger for a day and loved it, we bocce'd, fed the fish at lovers cove, outdoor cinema'd, walked the rain forest track, ate some great food, and drank too many cocktails. Having read reviews before visiting, I was a little apprehensive. Yes the rooms could do with a minor spruce up but they were clean and comfortable. We had an ocean view room on the third floor opposite the marina. The balcony was uncomfortably narrow and we didn't spend much time on it...the cockies did though, freeloaders! Do not leave your balcony door open or they will come in your room to search for food. We spent seven nights and I was worried we'd be bored but no chance! We did the Hardie... Read more

We just visited the island we didn't actually stay on it, but either way it's definitely worth a visit. Plenty of activities to keep you busy from swimming in the various pools throughout the island, to mini golf, snorkelling and even a rainforest walk/hike, there's plenty to keep the whole family occupied.

The staff on the island were exceptional. They took care of all our personal requests and needs. The food was the best we have experienced in a resort setting. We have travelled Australia and New Zealand extensively. It is so relaxing on the island and at the same time if you want to be busy, there is heaps to do. We stayed for 10 nights and were never bored. The living reef is so unique and makes the experience so interesting. Our favourite spot to hang out was Lovers Cove. The fish feeding and... Read more

Luckily we stayed 1 week prior to school holidays as the resort was relatively quiet Positives include: great staff, spacious, clean rooms, variety of activities, lovely grounds, wildlife, great sunsets Negatives: quality of food, expensive to eat and limited eatery options having to pay for snorkels, mask, and fins (should be included in package)

We visited Daydream for 3 nights in July. The reviews on here had me nervous, but happily, our trip was great. Yes, the style of the decor is a little outdated in comparison to the modern styling of most hotels/resorts, but everything was clean and well kept. Transportation from the airport was seamless via bus then ferry. Came to the resort as a day visitor for a couple of hours on the ferry. Being open to the public and being the school holidays, I thought the resort and pool would be overflooded with people, but actually it was very well kept, relaxing and not overcrowded at all! So this place rates itself as 4.5* - and I can forgive the tired (exhausted) decor but there are a few nasty surprises. I declined to argue this over the phone - lo and behold, on arriving at the hotel and checking in, nothing was mentioned about the hot water, and our room was available after all. Odd. Two restaurants to choose from. 1 is average but ok. bit pricey and the other is superb but a bit more pricey. allow $ 190 for 2 adults 3 kids . or the cheaper place say 150 $. They have heaps of aqua sports equipment and great pools too. cant fault it apart from too much kangaroo poo everywhere. other than that its 11/10

Recently spent 5 nights on Daydream Island, very disappointed. The whole resort needs a revamp, very old and unkempt. The living reef is good but that is about all. It was not advertised on their internet site, nor did any "greeting" staff mention that the The Tavern was closed for renovations which left very limited dining options. Mermaids every night of the week except one. Gilligans was closed as well due to "lack of clients this time of the year". Staff were not friendly or helpful, I have ... Read more

From the stucco-and-Dulux exterior to its customer service and, unfortunately, its cuisine, the resort effuses a late-90s vibe that permeates its peeling swim-up bar and frayed-hammock-dotted lawns. DDI Resort & Spa is a very good place to spend several days: there is a rich offer of activities that allows to experience different emotions every day. The island is big enough not to feel stranded yet large enough to offer variety. The Living Lagoon and the Rainforest were the best for me, lots to see and to learn. Be aware that tides are strong and snorkeling is suboptimal at low tide because of the water getting murky.

The resort itself is lovely, if not a bit dated. The views are amazing and the pools are perfect. Most food and drink on the island are quite expensive due to 1, it being hard to get to the island and 2, you don't have any other options. We were just here for a day trip but no one wanted to leave! So many swimming options to escape the heat, snorkelling, paddle boarding, jet skies, pools, pools, pools! The mini putt putt course is really cool! It covers all parts of Australia and the kids loved it (Ayres Rock was a favourite). There's also a huge outdoor movie screen for night time cinema.. We visited daydream island in June, the resort is in poor condition, decking around the pool bar area rotting and dangerous. Food expensive and limited choice, usually only one restaurant open each night. Got very sick of fried food. Although the food in Mermaids was very good, a lot of fried food, not much fresh veg or salad. Got sick of pizza for lunch as it was the cheapest option for two of us. Yes there's a bakery at the other end of the island, if you dont mind paying the prices. All you... Read more

We got a great deal from Luxury Escapes but for those that paid full price, I understand their disappointment. There is no doubt that the experience was overall not up to expectations of a romantic tropical island holiday but it was okay for what we spent. The positives include the free roaming wallabies and kangaroos and the cheeky curlews that growl if you get too close. The number of pools, size of rooms and snorkelling from the beach are also highlights. However, the restaurants are substa... Read more

I was at Daydream island for my sons wedding, the wedding planning and exacusion was excellent. Overall the week was good and the facilities need updating. The rooms were very clean. Food was average and the staff were excellent, the key problem with the week was that there was not enough staff available at peak periods. Lake of supervision over staff. This supposed "5 star" resort should have been closed a long time ago - and is now an embarrassment for Australian tourism From the dilapidated rooms - to the appalling restaurants (barring Mermaids which barely makes the grade) - do not waste your hard earned money by coming here. Below is a list of some of our experiences - Waterfalls restaurant. A run down filthy hovel. Plastic chairs and tables, dirty glasses, plates, and cutlery - and food I wouldn't serve to pigs. We stayed, as a family of four, for 8 nights in a family room, which is 2 rooms with an interconnecting door. The resort is dated but still in great condition. The rooms were very spacious and clean. The bed and pillows were very comfortable. The south part of the island definitely needs renovating but saying that is lovely if you want a quiet day away from majority of people. The Living Reef is amazing. My kids did 2 living reef tours and loved them, they now want to be marine biologists. Lover... Read more

After lining up to get into a $45 mediterranean buffet you were served lack lustre pasta and salads. The dessert was the best thing but still poor value. I did enjoy my stay at Daydream however the resort itself is in desperate need of a renovation and it does have quite a lot of limitations with its food and activities. Rooms and resort building: It's very run down and out dated.
