There are actually 2 hotels with the same name at the Esplanade in Darwin 122 and 116 which is a Little confusing. The rooms facing the sea have a great view. It was very nice having breakfast at the pool.

Great hotel, very clean and the staff were friendly and helpful. The only complaint is it was noisy because of the large motors running outside our window. Had to use ear plugs. Very close to city and places of interest.

Arrived on The Ghan shuttled to hotel, well received reasonable room with a good view. Stayed for 8 days, restaurant and room service was restrictive all else was OK. They do charge top rate for what they offer. Next visit to Darwin we shall be seeking a tad better accommodation for our dollar.

I arrived at 12:50 am & the front desk agent was very welcoming, even at that time of the morning. I was given my warm cookie, though I did eat it for breakfast the next morning. The hotel is located at the end of the Esplanade, backing on to Mitchell St, so it was very quite. All the front desk staff where very nice & helpful when it came to organizing additional tours & booking taxis & airport buses. I did find that the room service menu was more expansive than the hotel poolside restaurant, &... Read more

Location is ideal. Wonderful views if get harbour side. Buffet breakfast good, if not brilliant and expansive. Plenty of parking. Lifts a bit noisy so maybe ask for a room away from the lifts. Free newspapers. Staff offered an upgrade (at reduced cost) which I took. Always try phoning the hotel before booking via other sites as often they'll match rates provided elsewhere and you then get additional benefits - free wifi if Hilton Rewards member - free to join. We stayed at the DoubleTree by Hilton at 122 The Esplanade (there is another next door at 116) The staff were very helpful, the rooms very clean and comfortable. If you can afford a little extra I can highly recommend the Junior Suite on the top floor (level 10) with fantastic views out over the water, so nice not to be looked over by other high rise buildings, you can even leave the curtains open and enjoy the views day or night. This was our first trip to Darwin and in fact the first time in a Hilton Hotel, we normally stay at Sheraton or Shangri La Hotels but given none of these are located in Darwin we decided to stay here. We were not disappointed with the location and the facilities on offer. I was pleasantly surprised when I received an email offering us a lower rate for a twin room with B/B and harbour view (the initial booking was for a pool view). Paid for upgrade offer to a "Harbour View Room" Somewhat revamped but "Dowdy and Small" not worth the extra so changed for the remaining 5 day stay to the Mitchell Street Hilton. Well worth it and the rates had come down since booking the Doubletree. However it must be said that the staff although overstretched in their work tried to make up for things that did not happen or with further requests so cannot fault them at all. there were a few items overlooked and one has to wonder about the value... Unfortunately there was no hairdryer in the room or room service menu which would have made it more pleasant. I had to go downstairs to the restaurant to see what was available. TV was intermittent and didn't always turn on. The flashing lights in the hallway went under my door with the lights off and so the flash was apparent in my room. I had to put towels down at the bottom of the door to stop the flashing coming through. Parking was convenient, staff were friendly.

In short my advice to fellow trip advisor traveller. Stay at the HILTON if it fits your plans, it's a nice hotel and good value. But double check everything, and get it in writing!! After a five day camping tour in the outback we continued our holiday with five day stay at the Double tree by Hilton. We were greeted with a warm choc chip cookie, Yum and very friendly helpful staff. The room was on level four, overlooking the pool area. It was clean, spacious and had everything we needed. First the positive: - Stunning view (we had a harbour view room) - Nice and friendly staff - Good a'la carte food (really good). We got there really late the first night, 10 minutes before the kitchen closed, and even though they were out of the vegetarian options on the menu they were able to cook a really nice vegetarian meal. We live in the Territory but have to stay in Darwin for onward air travel, shopping and appointments as it's a 700 km round trip for us. However, during the dry season it becomes very expensive, some of the hotels charging extortionate rates of up to AU600 per night. We don't get Territorian rates when we most need it, so I was pleased to see that Doubletree were offering a preferential Government/Military rate which was comparitive to Wet Season rates. The quality of the accommodation was good, though the rooms could do with a face lift. I was on the 4th floor and could hear some noise from the pub across the way at night but it subsided by 12pm. The hotel was very well presented and in a good location. Not in the centre of Darwin but only a 10 minute walk which was good to minimise noise and traffic. The rooms were spacious and clean with views over the harbour. The only problem on one day was the room didn't get cleaned until 1530 which was a bit of an inconvenience. Had a short stay for just 4 nights but the location was very good, rooms spacious and tour desk extremely helpful. We had breakfast included in our stay and it was standard but all that was expected with all the basics and good self service coffee machine. Our room was spacious with a comfy bed and with the hotel opposite a lovely park and also a close shortcut through to the main street and shops. We only spent one night here but it was very nice and a convenient place to stay in Darwin, There is a guest laundry (always a must) and a nice restaurant. My only complaint is that the rooms only have one comfortable chair when there are two people staying there. This is one of my gripes about many hotels. There is a charge fir wifi but HHonors members get it free. All in all a nice place to stay.

Great online price. Very nice hotel, for a budget price. Family of four very happy for our one night stay. It was a bit more upmarket then our usual Darwin accommodation so teenage kids were very excited. Lovely linen, spotlessly clean, quiet yet only a short stroll from the centre of Darwin. Highly recommend.

This was a comfortable and large room, however a bit bland and basic for a Hilton. I had a decent balcony, unfortunately overlooking the rubbish hoppers. I would stay here again, but have stayed in nicer hotels such as the Mantra on the Esplanade a couple of doors down that is much nicer.

The hotel meet all the basic requirements: clean, good central location, good air con and good levels of service. Breakfast was the same for 5 days in a row and very basic with no variety. The hotel didn't have a welcoming resort feel and the bar and pool area didn't feel like you could relax as the chairs were very uncomfortable rigid timber. Rooms were clean and provided all the basics. Overall the whole stay ticked all the boxes but didn't leave us with any wow feeling.

We organised our trip through an our favorite agent. The hotel staff were helpful & polite. The room was average, not any different from a roadside motel. Had requested a room up high with an ocean view, were booked into a standard room. Upgraded to a "better" room, at a cost, with a small window in the recessed corner of the room, not much to see from there. No towels in room on arrival. Food average & costly, better to eat out. The place is outdated in pink, peach and pale green colours Definitely renovation should be on the cards!!!! The staff was very pleasant and helpful. The conference facilities were excellent. The food was good too. Everything was very nice except the style of the premises. I felt that I was back in the 80's.

If you want to experience what is was like living in the past then stay here. Not the Hilton experience you have previously had before so its up to decide what you want for your Darwin experience. But if you're after a true 4-5 star experience its best you skip this hotel! Had lunch at Pool side, it was good and reasonably priced for a hotel. Only gripe is no free internet, unless you join their loyalty program and book direct.
