I am a GHA Black member and chose the Qt because of the privileges you usually get with GHA membership - but I am now regretting it. As a Black member I always get room upgrades - not this time - and you are supposed to receive a local amenity when you arrive, which has always ranged from free drinks at the bar, bottles of wine or beer. Not at the Qt - their idea of an amenity is a hanky!!! What's more they only delivered this 'wonderful' amenity after I called reception. Definitely the first an... Read more

We stayed for 1 night in a standard room, at a rate of AUD135 for the night. The hotel is in a very good location, about 5 minutes walk from Civic (the nearest thing that Canberra has to a CBD), with plenty of restaurants within walking distance. The room was large, with a wall of windows and a balcony, and was very well maintained, with an extremely comfortable bed. The hotel is a refurbishment of an older building - maybe 80s - but done well, though the exterior could perhaps do with some co... Read more

If you are going to meetings in the Civic (or downtown) area of Canberra, this hotel is a good choice. It is fully refurbished and updated. The rooms are not the largest but are cosy and funky with a modern decor. In room facilities are good - bathroom with nice big shower, good toiletries, coffee/tea making facilities, full minibar, in-room snacks, robe, iron and good sized TV. No complaints about the WiFi. Downstairs bar and food areas are good for business meetings. Buffet breakfast was... Read more

Arriving from Sydney, where we also stayed at the QT hotel, we had built up certain expectations how this QT Hotel would be like. Well, itâ??s the opposite from Sydney and of my expectations. But that was certainly my fault, having discounted the fact that we are now in Canberra, where everything marches to a different drummer from the â??restâ?? of Austraya. Location is terrible, out in the boondocks and not having rent a car, had to wait a long time for the rare taxis which also feel much mor... Read more

We booked the Qt hotel as we loved this Gold Coast hotel for its dining and trendy atmosphere. We were in Canberra for a family christening. The Hotel is trendy and new and well appointed. The grill restaurant down stairs was amazing, the food was so delicious. We dined here for my grandfathers birthday, the staff were so lovely and gave us free house made warm donuts that we could inject with jam or Creme anglaise because we were unable to have our cake due to regulation. Closest hotel to the courts. About $25 by taxi from the airport, though, the flag fall $5 and airport levy $4.75 was a surprise. Nearly ten bucks before you get into the taxi. Great rooms, very friendly and helpful staff. Could not fault at an amazing daily rate. Though, if you are a member, check to ensure you get your points. I didn't, but not a big deal.

Walls are paper thin and we could hear next door's conversations. Cleanliness was just OK, there were dead bugs in the corners of the room and the bathroom could do with a bit more of a scrub. Just as a note, the fridge in the room wasnâ??t very cold despite being on the highest setting. We discovered a bottle of wine was better off being chilled on the balcony than in the bar fridge! The hotel is in a great location for exploring Canberra, and is in walking distance of the shops, cafes and restaurants. We ate at the hotel restaurant one evening. I visit Canberra quite often so it's easy to compare. Room was good, quite large well appointed. Staff were friendly. Pretty typical of Canberra really. Charging 1.5% for credit card transaction for an already expensive hotel is madness and in a city where there is much to choose from. Consequently, I'll choose somewhere else in future.

The hotel was excellent as a conference venue. The staff were very helpful and the conference facilities were very good. Unfortunately my husband was struck down with food poisoning after eating the Japanese style Tuna at the restaurant. Although the staff were very helpful in putting us in touch with the after hours doctor service it was 12 hours before we could get an in-house visit. It was a bit rich that we were charged for the phone call to the Doctor.

QT has put in the effort to be more stylish and modern and it has paid off. The rooms are modest in size but cleverly arranged. It is a great location as it overlooks the city and lake, is part of the New Acton area and a short walk to Civic and the lakeside. Numerous quality cafes and restaurants are at hand and the upper levels provide lovely views. And at the lower end of the Canberra hotel price range QT is certainly hard to beat for value.

I have stayed at QT Sydney before and like the brand so I thought I'd give Canberra a go. Absolutely faultless. Love the vibe and the uplifting music being played. Beautiful new modem rooms. Fantastic breakfast with lots of choices, everything QT does is done so well and quality. I needed more toiletries, it came in 3 minutes. Friendly bar manager who was a bit of a character, charged my phone and was happy to give advice on where to go. A very extensive range of spirits at the bar. You can walk... Read more

I love how the QT is always able to turn a drab hotel room into a funky little space, and while the QT Canberra wasn't as impressively themed as some others, it still does a good job. I can't fault it at all. Nice hotel, clean, modern, good bed, all well.

Stayed in QT before in other places and this one in Canberra doesn't disappoint. Great staff, great facilities, very clean, loved the funky political wallpaper. Only odd thing was that the car park wasn't big enough for the hotel, that could be awkward. Oh and I must apologize for the undies we left on the roof of the entrance :)...there was no way for us to retrieve them.

Disappointing stay at the QT Canberra. I have had much better experiences with QT Sydney and other hotels within the group. The building is old and while they have made an effort to renovate, it still feels like an out-dated hotel. The service was most disappointing - I booked a package and only received the accommodation component of the package. The only pro is the convenient location / price. Given the variety of options in Canberra I would not be inclined to book again.

Stayed over night for business recently. Reception staff were friendly and helpful. The room was of meets size with some quirky , even funky , furnishings. I judge a room on the bed, shower and comfort overall. This room ticked all those boxes. The bed was clean and comfortable with several pillows to provide comfort options. The aircon was on on my arrival and therefore. Cold night was comfortable inside. The hot water was plentiful and of sufficient power to ease a tired older body. The b... Read more

We visited for mixed weekend away and business and were pleasantly surprised that we were able to do most things in house. I sadly missed the opportunity of the in house barber but the breakfasts were amazing. Service was friendly though some challenges with cleaning and restocking the rooms but responded promptly to requests

The good , hotel has been nicely done up, room was comfortable and clean and movies at no charge is a nice touch. Had dinner at the Capital , food was good but $42 for a main with no sides , is over the top. We have a rewards card but were asked if we wanted to charge the meal to our room so we did, only to be told at checkout that we had to show the card at the restaurant to receive the discount, even though we were never asked for it? I explained this an was told there was nothing they cou... Read more

Been there several times for business.Stayed in room 401 3/8/16. Ordered room service (expensive) which was midly warm at best. Found that several staff had difficulty in responding with English not being their first language. Left my phone charger with my initials clearlymarked on it in the room, despite ringing within three hours and twice after that it has gone into the QT never never. No follow up since. Peppers around the corner looks good next time.

We decided to have an extra long weekend and stay here whilst we strolled around the main areas of Canberra. Its close to the all the main places we wanted to visit. We decided not to over indulge in the hotel room this time and allocated our funds to food, drink and shopping. We went for a standard room which was nice enough, the room was presented clean manner, there were movies on demand at no extra cost and a whole heap of mini bar materials, I say materials because it wasn't just nibbles a... I stayed here again in early August 2016. I've stayed here before. Rooms here are quite comfortable. Good beds. This time I was on the 14th floor. Shower pressure was low. I've not noticed that previously, so perhaps it gets worse, the higher up you go. I like a high pressure shower, so it was frustrating that the low flow shower head plus the lack of pressure combined to provide an ordinary shower experience. Don't stay in rooms next to the elevator/lift as they make noise through the n... Read more

By far the best buffet breakfast I've ever had, so much choice! All tasted excellent especially the honey which is made up on top of the roof by Qt's own bee's!! Got to have a sneak peak at the lounge upstairs, not sure why this stunning room isn't used more?! The views are amazing! Room was also great, really comfy bed and everything you would need for a great stay, lovely big balcony which got the sun all day. Highly recommend

It's the feel of QT that's the highlight. The political themed decoration provides the backdrop to a comfortable hotel in a location convenient to Parliament House and the city. Rooms are nice but don't book the twin room if you want to spread out.

This is the old Rydges lakeside hotel which has been given a makeover. The ground floor area renovations are a substantial improvement and that whole floor is now quite appealing. The guest room renovations have been well done and the room we had very clean. But the rooms are small compared to more modern designed hotel buildings. We asked for a suite and ended up with two rooms with the adjoining door open. Still, value-for-money we thought it quite good. The original hotel had great views of t... Read more

The QT has a great feel to it; the staff, atmosphere, decor are energetic but also relaxed. The breakfast is outstanding: from finely sliced proscuitto to made-to-order omlette there is a wide range of choices and ample quantity in a lovely big well-lit open room. Location is near CBD and convention centre and only 20 min walk to the National Gallery across the bridge. The room was roomy, matress was fairly comfortable and cleaning was excellent 2 of 3 days.

Stayed overnight on a Friday on the way to the snow. Thought the room was great value for money for a Friday night, $120. We requested a high room and ended up on the 9th floor with views to Parliament House. Room was clean, tidy with a great bathroom with amenities. After staying at the Sydney QT was a little disappointed that rooms not as nice but then the price was significantly cheaper so should have expected that. This was my first stay at a QT hotel and I was very impressed. The room was superb, with comfy bed and modern bedroom. It is great to see wifi and movies were free, definitely making the trip more enjoyable. The style was quirky, especially the political theme. The property isn't too far away from restaurants and bars, nor is it an effort to get to the main attractions of Canberra. The bar was good, with a good selection of spirits at good prices. Our families always stay here when visiting Canberra. This was our second visit and we couldn't wait to return. Although we had a good view from our room, the bed was extremely uncomfortable. It was very soft and sank in the middle which made for a bad night's sleep. Also although we were told it would be fixed the message button flashed all night plus the air conditioner wasn't working correctly. Great location, walking distance to bus terminal, nice cafe and restaurants around. Would definitely stay again.

I have stayed at the QT in Canberra on a number of occasions and always fine the service and facilities to the highest standard. A short walk to my office ensure I can feel like a local and explore the little cafes and restaurants Canberra has to offer. The location is close to the lake for an early morning run and the in-house facilities of bar, restaurants etc are very well developed and perfect for those note wanting to venture out.

The Hotel service was great! The room was modern, quirky and clean. We had dinner in the restaurant which was AMAZING! The service was great and the food was to die for. Only negative was the bar service was quiet slow so it did take a while to get our drinks each time however our waitress gave us a free drink to apologise. Would defiantly come back to QT Canberra. Looking forward to experiencing other QT hotels around Australia.

Hotel is a bit old but the funky decoration kind of distract your attention away from it. Good vibe in the hotel all around. I avoided the restaurant as other user suggested but had a cocktail at the bar which is quite decent. Cost wise good value for money on a weekend stay. Convenient location easy to go to city centre or capital hill.

Location is very good, but i wasn't happy with the service. I booked in room with breakfast and at the end i ended up paying for breakfast. The way this works is very weird. to make your requirements on one site and to actually book the system brings you to another site, where i didn't check again all my requested details. It's tricky and at the end the value you are expecting it's not there.

If you travel a lot of hotels you will not forget this one. Especially the lobbyarea with art work about politicians and breakfast area is really cool. Breakfast itself is worth to book directly with the room - tons of options even for vegetarians. They dont have any special corner for Chinese or Japanese breakfast though. We arrived late and was given a room on the quiet side away from the bar on the ground level. I asked for a higher room which was given to us. Room was decent sized. Beds is comfortable and had been given extra blanket as Canberra nights could be cold even in Spring. All the amenities are there and being a member for the hotel is a plus as it gives you a discounted rate and some perks. To experience Canberra you really do need a car so the major drawback of this hotel is the limited number of car spaces; allocation is 'first in, best dressed'. Added to this inconvenience are the ferociously efficient parking rangers in the area making it easy to get a hefty fine. The hotel's ground floor is interesting, vibrant and fun. The bedroom's decoration quirky with a price list of just about every item in the room: no argument about the price of something should it find its way into yo... Read more

I've never been disappointed in a QT hotel. This Canberra edition is no exception. It has the same QT vibe as every QT hotel I have visited. The room is full of light, clean and spacious. The bathroom is also sleek, clean, and has the same Malin and Goetz toiletries (which I love). I wish there's just more parking around! Dining options were amazing too (love love love Lucky's Speakeasy!) I particularly liked the 'political' aesthetic of the hotel (considering we were in Canberra!)
