Wasn't impressed with his hostel to be honest. Stayed there for just one night and it was sketchy from the off. The night manager asked us all to write down our credit card details on a piece of paper in case we didn't pay in the morning (we arrived at 8pm) something we refused to do for obvious reasons. As we got "allowed" to be made exempt to the rule we were shown to our four bed en suite room. Where the bedroom light didn't work, the place could have done with a clean and there were boxes of... Myself and my boyfriend stayed here for 3 nights while we came up to do our scuba dive on the barrier reef, we didn't arrive in Cairns till about 5pm and koalas was the first hostel we came across (also had a voucher from Wicked Travel), after driving up we were shattered and didn't fancy walking around to look for more hostels we just decided to book in here, Wicked travel had helped us book so many hostel up and down the east coast so we always took there advice, well I wasn't too impressed w... The hostel is located close to the beachfront and all major bars and clubs which makes rhe location pretty good! Parking situation is bad as you have to get a ticket every 2 hours when parking on the street (no other option). Rooms smell and bathrooms are mouldy. The interior is very run down and the staff are usually hired backpackers who don't really speak English very well (don't get me wrong, I'm not from Australia and English is not my first language, but it would be good if they spoke su... Okey, don't live here. I agree, very cheap. The night guard is drunk all the time and is very unreeponsable. Really dirty place in a really bad neighbourhood, bo friendly staff and everything is very unorganized and messy. So basically, don't live here if you want to have a nice stay in Cairns.

This hostel is not the best hostel however it is not the worst. It doesnt seem entirely clean however is lean enough for a night or two! I had a free night then a night that was discounted here, i would not have paid full price for this hostel and wouldnt have stayed here if i didnt have the vouchers. Each room had their own chairs and sink, bathroom and bunks which was nice, it was spacious. The hostel on the second and third floor reminded me of a prison because of the layout, the rooms were ... On arrival the manager was friendly and we checked into our room, spacious but filthy, mould in the bathroom and smells like a two week old tuna sandwich. we open windows, turn on the air con, spray some deodorant and suck it up. We pay for an extra night in the morning as its cheap at $89, we stay a third night pay in the morning in cash. on check out the manager says we owe him $89 and basically accuses us of theft, it was his receptionist who stole our money, provided us with no receipt and w... if your a teenager out for party time and couldnt care less about anyone else at motel, this the place for you, had 10 nights of no sleep due to loud party noises all hours, and guests coming home slamming entry gate and shouting from one end of hotel to other, complained to manager on numerous occasions, made no difference. the rooms are hot no aircon in bedrooms and the one in living area sounds like jet engine when turned on , so bad couldnt hear tv. linen is a dull grey and dirty looking On... When I arrived, I was checked in by the night manager for two nights. I asked him NOT to charge my credit card and told him I would be paying by cash so not to incur an overseas transaction charge. When I went to check out, I had been charged by credit card and for three nights. The lady at reception refused to refund me any of the money. Not to mention my room was disgusting and the staff were outrageously rude.

Honestly I stayed in 4 different hostels in Cairns and this one was the best (or least worse). Came in December, the hostel was pretty empty so got to know the staff a bit and they were great. The receptionist even gave me addresses to find a job!! The place is not very clean (the cleaning being done by backpackers who don't get paid) but it's not the dirtiest hostel either. The rooms are spacious with cupboards and own bathroom, I even had a fridge in the living room but apparently it's not th... Read more

Sheets were poor fitting, dirty, blood stained & even mouldy. White towels with visible stains. Our floor hadn't even been swept or mopped before our arrival. Kettle was infested. Bathroom was mouldy and smoke alarms were not functional. Never again!!!!

Stayed here for a while while in Cairns and its a great place to chill for a bit but not for a long period as there isn't much going on. There is a pool table in the courtyard and a mini bar but that's about it. Rooms were clean enough but I do think they could offer more to entice people to stay. I spent most of my time out of the hostel. It's also very steady for meeting people as you rarely bump into people because the communal area is so bare !
