Booked on line for 3 nights, older hotel well presented with good size rooms. The location was central to everything, staff were very friendly and helpful. Just be aware it does not have 24hr room service, but there are plenty of places to eat of shop within 100m of the hotel. We will be staying here again

Stayed 2 nights at the hotel. Staff were pleasant but gave scant information re services. The food was outdated and dusty. The lounge was uncomfortable and the bedroom curtains full of dust. The bathroom has a step over the bath into the shower and this is a real falls hazard. There is no natural light in the suite.

We were upgraded to a spa room but to be honest I would rather of had more space in the room and didn't use the spa for one night. Room was basic but clean and well serviced. Not a hotel for views but very central. Breakfast was not included so we ate in the cafe within the hotel. They were short staffed and the meal took a long time to come. For a hotel that was in the middle of the city is was very quiet. The staff were very friendly and polite.

The hotel is in a great location and all around are great eateries and malls for the shopping fiends. I had a delightful day at the zoo. Although there was a fire scare twice while I was there. Not able to get in and then not able to leave until the fire department gave the OK. I also stopped by the Art Gallery on the University grounds. Wonderful exhibition. The city is full of activities that are easily accessed from the hotel. Nice place for a week end getaway with or sans children.

We've just had a very enjoyable weekend staying at the Grand Chancellor Hotel in Currie Street Adelaide. The hotel is very well located and nice and quiet. While a little dated compared to the glass and chrome examples, it really is very comfortable. We had an Executive Room so we had a medium sized entrance/sitting room inside the front door. This meant that the bedroom, which was very roomy, was off to the side and separated from the rest of the suite by a door - making it very private. The su... Read more

The room and ensuite was lovely - decorated in the period that you would expected. Huge windows and such a comfortable room. Staff were fantastic and the service was great. Vicky's bistro was lovely and the food was great. So close to everything. I wouldn't hire a car next time as parking is offsite but it's a great spot.

This is a centrally located, moderately priced hotel, with moderate services. The rooms are smallish, offer most amenities and are quite tired. The air cond kept me awake with a recurring decompression sound, which made for a restless nights sleep. Wifi in the room was not operative, or only for a limited time followed by a charge, disappointing in 2016. The gym was reasonable, and the pool area was clean and well serviced. I did not use the cafe restaurant area, however, the smell ... Read more

The rooms are tired but clean. Interesting situation with the hot water - every time we wanted to have a shower we had to ring down to reception! Apparently they turn on a few taps down there and ten minutes later or so, the hot water is back on. Maybe avoid if you like to shower at your leisure!

Well first of all i Booked via calling the hotel as i had a question about the room rate. i found that it was cheaper to book via the hotel. the Reception desk clerk was so helpful. The room was very privet as the windows faced a wall. I only stayed the one night. but found the bed was comfortable for me but my husband woke up with a sore neck the next morning. Overall staff are great rooms are decent but very dated

We spent five nights at Grand Chancellor on Currie whilst in town for a conference. Let's get the disappointments out of the way first ... decor is nothing special. Air conditioning was not exactly effective. Tap inconveniently dripped from approx 4am through to 9am every morning. And now for the parts we did appreciate. Location, location, location. In a very rainy week we got around everywhere on foot and stayed mostly dry because nowhere was far away. The staff. Unobtrusive but helpful when... Read more

My daughter & I stayed at the Grand Chancellor last night in a twin room. The room was beautiful with two queen beds that were so comfy, nice bathroom with fantastic big soft towels, The location is amazing close to restaurants, central markets and the tram. We are Adelaide locals but I would highly recommend this hotel to travellers to Adelaide. 10 out of 10 for value for money. We will be back.

This is an older style hotel, furnishings could do with an update, but the rooms are of a decent size and very clean. The location is excellent, very central to eateries and other attractions. The air con/heating in my room was very noisy and I found it difficult to watch t.v as it was so loud.I was in room 511 the executive room, the hotel should have a look at this as it can be very annoying. The service was great. I would stay here again and would reccommend.

My partner and I spent 4 nights at this hotel. The room was very small and the furniture could do with an update. Also, the air conditioner was really noisy. On the plus side though it was very clean and the location was brilliant. If I was to go back I would be more particular about the room I booked.

I spent 5 nights in this hotel during a business trip in the middle of Adelaide winter. The bed was a bit soft (for me), but the room was great, clean, good bathroom. The restaurant in the same building provides a great breakfast. All very friendly staff. The location for me was within walking distance from where I wanted to go. Good restaurants in the area, good connection to airport, within walking distance of river, sports oval, university.

Our greeting at reception was warm and welcoming enough, but things went rapidly down from there. Our first clue things may not be the best was spotting the dirty plates piled up outside the door, prompting us to knock and open carefully in case the previous occupants were still there. I checked the hotel pool and spa area while my partner prepared the room spa for us to relax in. This is round the corner from the bigger Grand Chancellor in Adelaide. It is tired. Just about everything needs a refit. It has clearly been adapted - the bathrooms in each room have been cut out from the large bedroom, and so that the bedroom now feels as though it is the wrong shape. The plumbing makes some strange noises. When the people in the room next door had a shower, it sounded as though it was in the same room. The key card took several attempts every time to get in. Rooms are a reasonable size and well appointed but need some upgrading. While superficially clean, carpets are stained and bathroom has a build up of mould. The car park is situated in Hindley St, which given the rainy weather is not convenient. Hotel bar and cafe closes down after breakfast and dinner and makes for a 'dull' foyer and welcome.
