We didn't have a room here, but the staff near the turnaround and taxi station were friendly and helpful on several occasions. Particularly the evening of Friday, July 1. Cabs were in short supply but the doorman made efforts for us and several others to get rides that may have otherwise passed us on by. (I believe his name was Javier, but I could be mistaken.) Great staff and they represent the hotel wonderfully.

First time in Aruba with my wife and another couple; we stayed at the Renaissance (Marina) and the stay was simply o.k. Its very difficult to criticize a hotel and its staff for simply doing their job, but that is my issue with this property...the staff simply did their job. I did not necessarily feel welcomed at the resort. Check-in staff was very bland and unwelcoming. The rooms, in my opinion, are a little out-dated. The hotel itself looks like something out of a 70's sitcom. The DJ by the p... Read more

I am going to make this an easy to read review! Promise! Hotel - Renaissance Aruba Resort & Casino - stay at one, play and eat at two. Ocean Suites is where we stayed, it is an absolutely beautiful resort! The suites are so clean and modern, the bed is comfortable and the pillows are the best ever! I want to know what they are so I can get two of them for home! Only cons - the chairs on the balcony are so UNcomfortable and they could have a softer toilet paper! I stayed for 5 nights at the Marina, adults only side. I really liked the décor of the room but my room was interior facing and the view of the lobby leaves a lot to be desired. I did enjoy the music by the pool, but felt that it was way too loud and I can definitely understand the frustration of those who had ocean view rooms. My room was missing a full-length mirror that I saw other rooms did have. The only real benefit that I saw of staying at the Ren vs the other hotels is the private isl... Read more

Where else can you get on a private beach in the hotel's exclusive boat in 10 minutes and the hotel rate is still affordable for you to have plenty of leftover money to eat and play during your vacation? Surely you can imagine yourself as James Bond or one of the bad guys in the movie as the boat takes you to and from the private island. :) As far as I am concerned, only the Renaissance Aruba offers such a perk. We love it so much we went to the private beach twice during our 2 day stay in this... Read more

Sorry for the long review but I wish I'd known some of this before we went. We took quite a while choosing the hotel and dared to move away from our usual all inclusive. We always chose a high standard hotel and thought the extra £750 that Thomson wanted for the all inclusive option we thought we could use to try local restaurants and eat out for a change. Well....let me tell you this is one expensive island! We thought we had researched well on Trip advisor but didn't realise how much food and... Read more

Nice hotel that fits both business and holiday travel. The hotel has two pool areas and a private beach island. It is close to the airport and the city center. The breakfast is buffet style and offers plenty of options. Note that many rooms look out over the inside reception area.

Staying at this hotel gives you access to the amazing Renaissance island and it's located right in the center of the downtown area. We had great view of the port/pool from our 5th floor room. It's a very busy hotel though - you don't really get personalized help/service but it's all good. It does take 15-20 min to get to the island with the boat and if just missed the boat you may have to wait 15-30 min for it to come back, so you do have to plan around it or go with the flow and distract your... They all knew my name and made my stay so much more enjoyable. I really missed them when I came home and can't wait to see them next year. I will definitely be going back there again. We had our flight cancelled so chose to stay close to the airport. As a very loyal Marriott member I'm disappointed. Check in was smooth but once in the room I couldn't imagine staying here for a full week as a beach vacation. Our room was not all that clean - Kleenex sticking out of the peephole and others on the floor, a glass outside the door - yes you're getting the picture. Great staff who are all extremely helpful and nice just not a hotel I will choose again when I return to the island.

Renaissance is a great hotel. Two in one...an adult side and family side. Great accommodations, front desk staff superb with location, location, location! Renaissance has its own island, shopping and food complex and minutes from the airport...making arrival very efficient. My criticisms are minor but noteworthy. We were moved to the Renaissance Marina Hotel by our tour company when the hotel we booked had power supply problems. We stayed on an all-inclusive basis and we felt that those that were using this option were not treated as well as those who booked on a room only basis. The hotel is within walking distance to some really great restaurants. If you like upscale shopping, visit the Renaissance Mall. The hotel has it's own private island and guests can visit free. They provide a free boat ride to and from the island. The entire staff was great and very friendly. They will go out of their way to make sure your visit is... Read more

I have stayed in 5 star hotels, this is not one, but is a solid 4 star. But they do have 5 star service! If you have no desire to drive during your vacation and avoid spending a fortune in taxi fees to get to great places to eat.... the Renaissance is your place! We met several people who stayed in other hotels in the low rise and high rise area who wished that they had stayed at the Renaissance as it was such a beautiful hotel plus great location. Downtown location is close to many choices ... Read more

We have been going to the Renaissance Aruba Resort & Casino for 3 years. We loved it enough to buy a time share. Our favorite part of the resort is the private island. Every day we take a boat from the launch to the private island. Every time we step on that boat feels like we're going on an excursion. The island is peaceful and a beautiful place to relax. If you like to snorkel and want an adventure, go out past the rocks on the family side and you'll have a perfect area to view lots of... Read more

Chose this hotel for the island knowing that the hotel wasn't on one of the long beautiful beaches of eagle or palm beach and I don't regret it however I did have a few niggles that I feel I need to mention - the reception staff are not friendly, we didn't see one of them smile or even be friendly - I can't really put my finger on it they just had no personality and as reception is 1st face I would expect staff that shine. Food is another strange experience the breakfast is great and we had all ... Read more

There wasn't a bad thing about our trip. From the beginning the Renaisssance was very accommodating. We went with the all inclusive which worked out perfect for us and let us enjoy all the property had to offer. We spent a lot of time at the private island which was a fun boat ride from the hotel every morning. Natalia provided us with wonderful service at Papagayo on the beach everyday we couldn't help but keep going back. We also had a great housekeeper Mymonda who made sure we always had... Read more

Love everything about the Renaissance Marina. It's a party atmosphere (lights, DJ music, bar, pool) on the first floor where our room was. But we never heard anything more than staff cleaning the room next to ours. The beds are super comfy. The bathroom was large and clean. We used the "Navigator" service a few times to make dinner reservations, a massage, and a snorkeling tour. The Navigator was so nice and happy to help. The BEST part was the private island---why go to a public beach when you ... Read more

Right next to Starbucks. + Large updated rooms with extremely comfy beds and pillows + Great room service with kind employees + Good value at the gift shop for non-cheap looking gifts that are Dutch-inspired. ... The only reason I selected 5 stars is so the review will get read. We booked the hotel and paid extra for ocean view room and the quality of Marriott and a 5 star hotel as they boast. This is far from being 5 star. The biggest disappointment is finding a room full of roaches crawling all over our clean clothes, toiletries etc... when I called the front desk they didn't even offer to make it right. They sent a house keeping staff up to our room 20 minutes later with some bug spray. It was disgust... Read more

Me and my mom stayed 5 nights here and loved it. The hotel is in the heart of downtown Oranjestad. We stayed in an ocean view room that looks out over the marina. The marina resort is adults only but they have a beach front hotel that is family friendly. Neither of them have the great beaches that you expected but the trade off is wonderful. In the marina hotel the boat that takes you to the private renaissance island picks you up through a waterway inside the hotel and takes you to the island f... Read more

The Renaissance Aruba consists of 2 sections: First, the Marina, which somehow looked a bit like New England to us, with the Renaissance Mall and ferry shuttle dock right in the lobby. And second, the Ocean Suites, where we were accomodated. We absolutely fell in love with this resort! The architecture and the open lobby truly looked like island style. Everything was matching. Lush gardens, tall palm trees, tiki torches and many iguanas and exotic birds. The 2 pools and the swim-up bar were v... Read more

I just came back from a two night stay at the Renaissance Aruba Resort & Casino. The hotel has a great location for anyone not wanting to be in the high rise hotel area of Palm beach. You are minutes away from the airport, and close to the great shopping in town. Check in was quick (even at almost 10:00 at night). The room was wonderful, hip and trendy and very roomy. Everything I expected from a Renaissance. I enjoyed my stay immensely and would stay again without question if the need arises. I... Read more

We stayed here in september for 2 weeks, we were put on the marina side, on arrival we were given our room and it overlooked car park, we asked to be moved and ended up overlooking zara. The room itself is nice and was very clean. The problem with this hotel is i found it very pretentious, the staff seem to fall over themselves to serve the pretty young people but more or less ignored us over 50s, the load music they played at the pool was just annoying, there was a music festival on when we w... My friend and I stayed at the Renaissance Marina (adults only). This was our first trip to Aruba. The hotel is in a great location. There are plenty of shops both high end and souvenir type shops. The hotel has a great pool and bar. They also have a casino. Our room was on the lobby floor and was nice. My only complaint about the room is that it was noisy. There was a continuous dripping sound from the air conditioning. There was construction noise outside, not sure if it was from our hot... Read more

We stayed in the Marina side last week which is the adults only side which is what we were looking for given we were there for my 40th birthday. Our room overlooked a street and well was pretty lackluster. The view was awful. The balcony was so tiny that you couldn't even put a chair out on it. We were willing to deal with this as we didn't spend much time in it anyway. The pool area is very small and it can be hard to even find a spot with sun. Our big issue was at the pool bar. We took the two kids aged 12 and 8, and the inlaws to this property. Better than average food with the all inclusive. It was kind of annoying with having to swipe the card every time we wanted to get something to eat or drink, and we weren't really sure most of the time what exactly was included...but I am sure that if we asked, we would have been told...we just kind of crossed our fingers, and it all worked out. Nice property with resort rooms, ocean suite rooms and a private island by water taxi with beach. Rooms clean and beds very comfortable. Food very good, but very pricey. Drinks very pricey if you do not have all inclusive. A lot of restaurants on the property but local food is more affordable and a taste of the island. Overall the hotel was nice but not as nice as it seems when you first walk in. You get a lot of info about the amenities, stores and restaurants and tours etc. Then you find that the stores are unnecessarily super expensive, the drinks at the bars are a waste of cheap alcohol that only disappoint your liver, and all of the restaurants cook from the same kitchen. While the hotel itself is fairly nice the service was horrible. It was really hard trying to find someone friendly there. Stood at the bar waiting to order a drink for 15minutes almost and not one person greeted me! I had to go to other locations to get a drink where I was treated like somebody!
