After reading many reviews of the places to stay in Aruba, I chose the DiVi Aruba Phoenix. I liked the location, as it is in the quieter area of the hotels. We stayed 9 days, it was fabulous! The staff at the DiVi Phoenix went out of their way to make our stay as pleasant as possible! I so enjoyed meeting many of the hard working people employed by the DiVi Phoenix! It started with Ghislaim, at the front desk, she was so kind, and personable, she made me feel like family. My room was in the tower on the 12th floor, it is a one bedroom suite with two balconies. The view was incredible! I could see to the end of the coastline! When I arrived in the room, their was a moldy smell. Apparently, if you leave the doors to the balcony open it causes moisture to build up in the air conditioning unit. Their is a note on the door stating that. The smell bothered me so much we asked to be moved. I was shown another room in the newer part of the resort, but as it was beautiful, their was no comparison to the view I had from my room in the tower, and they wanted to charge me additional fee to move I didn't think that was fair, considering it was not my fault the room smelled moldy. The towers I learned are 20 years old, they renovated them awhile ago but they need to be redone. I was told they are going to be adding on to the property, so not sure if the towers will stay, I certainly hope they do. If you have a problem at the resort, even tho Christian is the bellman, he is the to go to man! After showing us the new room, he got on the phone and worked his magic! The next thing I knew we had Mario in our room taking apart the air conditioning unit! He changed the filter and cleaned the unit so well, the smell disappeared.Thank you Mario!! I was thrilled we could stay in our room. Thank you Christian!! We were pampered at the DiVi Phoenix, housekeeping was exceptional! The only thing I would say is they know the rooms smell moldy, so clean the units more frequently. I spoke to many guests and they had the same issue. The other issue is the elevators in the towers, they always were breaking down. We had to wait at times 20 minutes or more to go to our room, I don't mind taking the stairs, but 12 floors is a bit much. Otherwise, this is a fabulous place to stay! It is a very well kept property, the staff are always cleaning and keeping everything looking great. It was my first trip to Aruba and I can't wait to go back! I look forward to seeing JayR and Jude and Gwen at the PureBeach Bar, they make it a fun place! JayR also told us about the island and where the best local places to see, we took his advice and had a wonderful time exploring the island. Thank you JayR!! I did dine at PureOcean one evening, you can dine on the beach watching the sunset with your toes in the sand. The dinner was good, their Caribbean lobster Mac and cheese was delicious, the curried coconut grouper was also. I would recommend the staff tasting everything, so they can be informative of what they are serving.
Everyone is friendly, kind and they make sure you are happy. The resort wasn't crowded when I went, we were up early everyday, so it wasn't a problem getting a spot at the beach or pool. I could see people getting up early to save their chairs which I find unfair, since some don't even show up to use them. I guess this is a problem in many resorts, one would think you could have some kind of a time limit or something. The snorkeling at the resort was surprisely amazing!! We didn't have to go on a tour, it was right there!! So, if your looking for a place to stay in Aruba and don't want to be in the middle of the action, the DiVi Phoenix Beach Resort is the place to stay. They have plenty of activities from bingo to karaoke to welcome night for the guests, with dancers and local venders selling their goods and free cocktails etc...every room has a oceanfront room! I would recommend a higher floor, anything from the 6th floor and up in the towers, and 5th floor and above in the new units. They also have beachside villas, which have their own pools, whirlpool, it is a timeshare place as well as a hotel. Aruba is definitely a HAPPY ISLAND, some of the nicest people I have ever met! I can't wait to return, I miss it already!! Is it pina colada time yet?? Lol....ð??´ ð??? ð??¹
