We originally chose the Bucuti Beach Hotel because of the many positive reviews and awards it received. We visited the Bucuti Hotel during May 2016 to celebrate a birthday and also our upcoming wedding anniversary. From the moment we pulled in to the parking lot, I knew the Bucuti would live up to reports of its exceptional service. We were greeted by Frank the doorman, who welcomed us, let the front desk know we had arrived and then carried our bags inside for us. Once we entered the lobby, we were warmly greeted by the front desk staff, who handed us some moist towels to wipe our hands, and gave us glasses of champagne. Then we were escorted up to our room, one of the Tara Suites, to complete the check-in process. We were happy to see that on the door of our room were cards from the Bucuti staff saying: "Happy Birthday" and "Happy Anniversary". When we opened the door, we were immediately impressed with the million dollar view of the beach and ocean from our 3rd floor balcony. We were also pleased to find a welcome package from the hotel, which included a bottle of sparkling wine, two champagne flutes to keep as souvenirs and also some cheese, crackers and chocolates to congratulate us on our anniversary and wish a happy birthday.
Our Tara suite was stylishly decorated and roomy, with a bedroom area, a living room, and a small kitchen type area with mini-bridge, microwave, coffeepot and dishes. The king sized bed was comfortable. There were two large flat screened TV's, one in the bedroom and one in the living room and another small TV screen built into the bathroom mirror. We appreciated the fact that the Bucuti was ecologically minded and offered a green room option (re-using linens and towels), encouraged recycling and provided souvenir water bottles for each guest.
While at the Bucuti, we enjoyed the daily happy hours at the Sand Bar which included free appetizers and musicians playing steel drums. All of the bartenders were very friendly, and our favorite was Juan. We ate at the Elements restaurant several times, including our first night there where we enjoyed sitting in the outside patio area, enjoying and ambience and watching one of the many beautiful sunsets. On our third night, we arranged to have the Romantic Dinner on the beach, which ended up being our best meal while in Aruba. This meal included a bottle of wine, appetizers, bread, soup, the main course and dessert. We enjoyed the meal and excellent service provided by our waiter, Chris. We also dined at Elements on our final night, as they were able to make a special meal from Mahi-Mahi filets we brought back from our ocean fishing trip that day. The daily breakfast buffet was excellent and included omelets made to order, pancakes, French toast, sausage, bacon, a different egg dish each day, a variety of breads, hot and cold cereal, pastries and muffins, fresh fruit, juices, coffee, tea and assorted beverages. Marguerite, one of the breakfast cooks, was friendly and made an excellent omelet!
We spent time relaxing on the beach and by the pool and there was always a beach chair with umbrella available. We enjoyed the red flag service on the beach, where you can order drinks and even food. We also enjoyed getting moist towels and fruit cups delivered to us while at the beach. The hotel beach is beautiful and we enjoyed many walks along the beach. We also saw several areas where sea turtles made nests on the beach; two right near the Bucuti.
Our concierge, Madeline, was very helpful and made several dinner reservations for us and also arranged daily activities including a UTV tour, a sunset dinner cruise and our ocean fishing trip. She also provided us with tips about our activities and where to dine and shop. Each day, all of the Bucuti staff greeted us in a warm and friendly manner, from the cleaning person to the front desk staff. By the third day, many knew our names and we felt like part of the Bucuti family. One of the most memorable staff at the Bucuti was Frank the doorman as he always had a smile and a funny joke to share and he readily offered assistance and provided suggestions regarding our daily excursions. He was the first and last person we saw at the Bucuti, and even gave us a hug goodbye as we left for the airport. The Bucuti is known for it's exceptional service and how the staff treat you like royalty. It is also known as a place to relax and where you feel welcomed. We highly recommend this hotel and hope to be able to return again in the future.
